It wouldn’t take much to get this place to 5 stars. The food is the definite winner here. The staff need some work on customer experience, taking orders, answering questions, and general helpfulness. But man, the food was great. I had the gyro platter and my wife had the chicken platter. Would definitely come back and hope the service is better.

Pop in for a pistachio baklava. This is a limited review from a short snack stop. The iced tea was a tasty, herbal 4. Sweet, but not overly so. The decor was eclectic to the max, but there was some sort of ambiance. I’ll ring that in at a 4. The pistachio baklava though! Wowzers! A straight up 5!!!

Delicious Mediterranean food although more of an Americanized rather than purely authentic version. I loved my fresh falafel and Lebanese fries and the hummus and bread was good too. Update after 3rd visit (another lunch, also dinner visit): Love the soup and salad lunch special - red lentil soup is absolutely fresh, hot and delicious. Tabbouli salad is great.. Baklava was good too. Fairly quick service is helped through orders at the front, and food is brought to the table.

We came in the evening and very thankful for this as we had the sweetest, most helpful server. New to town, it is unnerving trying new places. This young lady did a heck of a job filling in any spaces that may have made our experience go the wrong way. Wish i knew her name- she is slender with dark hair if this helps. Anyhow- best falafel Eva and my hubby had the juiciest lamb kebab. Thanks for making our Exp 100%!

Good for Tallahassee (but not Great). It’s a mix of fast food with the option to dine in. You place your order at the counter, and the food is served at your table. (Tips are still greatly appreciated) I was craving lamb and asked for my (market priced lamb kabob) to be cooked medium rare. The server confirmed that it was possible and the order was placed, along with a glass of Pinot noir and a piece of the most expensive pistachio baklava I’ve ever had in my life ($4 for one PIECE!!) Minutes later, the kitchen backpedaled and said that lamb could not be cooked medium rare due to “health regulations.”. The server didn’t seem disturbed or worried at all. Also didn’t welcome the discussion for me to change my order. The well cooked lamb kabobs arrived in a timely manner, along with (an American version of a) Greek Salad and hot seasoned fries. Overall impression: was good (for Tallahassee) but not great for what they charge.…especially if you’re used to amazing Middle Eastern food.

I was recommended to try Sahara by a friend and I was not disappointed! I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Lunch with rice and hummus to go. The food is very flavorful and you get a lot for what you pay for. I will definitely return!

When ordering online through their website, it stated $1.99 to upgrade my side to a Greek salad (which I thought was a bit steep, but ok). Upon arrival, I was charged $3.25 for the upgrade and was given less than a handful of salad. I mentioned it to the staff member, who simply stated they don’t make the prices. Although the falafel pita was delicious, the upgrade was not worth the price. Hopefully this will save someone from making the same mistake I did.

This place is amazing 🤩 Their Gyros are out of this world! I love getting their platter that has both gyro meat and chicken! The absolute best was the seasoned potatoes and of course the baklava!!!! Hands down best pistachio baklava I've ever had!!! The staff is amazing and they have the sweetest ladies that make you feel so at home and comfortable! Their attention and quality are incredible!

My mother in law loves this place, so we went for lunch with her. The platter sizes are big, I had enough gyro meat to take home for lunch again. The salad was fresh and the homemade dressing was light and tasty. You order at the counter and then sit for your food. Its brought out to you by a lovely lady with a big smile. The pistachio baclava was also excellent!

One of the best places to eat in Tallahassee. Their hours have gotten a little strange, which makes it hard to get in there sometimes, but it is well worth the effort and wait. Their lamb shank is one of my top 10 favorite dishes anywhere, the Greek fries are amazing, and the Sahara tea is crazy addictive. Pretty reasonable on the price, too!

Let it be know that part of the review of 3/5 is because I am comparing this place to what I have always known and loved this restaurant to be. I went to college eating at this restaurant and it was one of my favorites. I’m in town visiting and it has since relocated and I am not sure if owners have chances. I got a shawarma chicken platter. The taste has changed. The chicken was cut in larger pieces, dryer, not moist. Dry not crispy. Pita is dry and cardboard like. The rice and salad was good sides. I do like their new location. Much brighter. When you enter of you haven’t been there, it’s hard to know that it’s a order first and sit down and serve. There is a hostess stand but no direction. Actually you are to walk to the back and order and food is brought out to you. I’m disappointed in taste and that it doesn’t not taste for the better or same.

You can never go wrong with Sahara. The food is always delicious, the service is wonderful. It might take a little extra time to get your food, but it is absolutely worth it.

This place was just okay. I had higher hopes, but everything was really just mediocre at best. And the service could have been better. The lady that waited on us was nice and friendly, but we asked for extra napkins, she never brought them. We ordered items we didn't get, but they ended up not being on the receipt so that was okay I guess. I would understand if they were busy, but we were one of maybe six total tables of people. We walked in and nobody was there. No sign to tell you to be seated. We were confused when we first came in if we sat ourselves or what. A couple behind us had the same problem. Another couple that arrived after us somehow ended up not only ordering, but getting their appetizers before our chick even returned with our water and took our order. It was kind of expensive for the quality of food and service. We love this kind of food, but we'll try some place else next time.

It was good! I've been wanting to go for awhile now. The chicken shawarma did not disappoint. Nice environment.

Loved this place before Covid , now it’s just horrible . Overpriced mediocre food in a restaurant designed like a nursing home. I’ve come in 3x, this time with my son and it hasn’t gotten better . Manager also rude , watched a server cry after insulted over a mistake.$6 for a slice of coke,$3 for a drink, $12 for a burrito? Insane .

My love and I went to Sahara Cafe from the feed back of a worker from New leaf Market in the same plaza in Tallahassee Florida! We are always looking to try something new. We was told they would serve some awesome greek food which includes many fresh greek meals. Well the young lady customer service was very refreshing. She was very patient and informative when it came to food menu. My love eat meat and I'm vegan! My love ordered a lentil soup and bread. The lentil soup was kind of cold and almost the consistency of baby food , not good at all.I order the grape leaf filled with rice, a greek salad that only contain 2 🫒, 2 slices of tomato, couple ring of red onion. Everything was cold , not season . I never had greek food before but our experience tells me I didn't want to give greek food a second chance at all. They had a signature black tea that we where told was fresh brew from tea 🍃. We was informed that it comes in a package and brew from prepackaged tea bags that are shipped into the restaurant. Because of the not so good experience, my love to me surprised me with a greek restaurant in valdosta ga! The food at Giulios Greek and Italian restaurants. Their food is authentic greek, customer service is vreat, great, seasoned and hot . My love order some lentil soup and it wasn't the consistency of baby food.

Great tasting Mediterranean restaurant, looks beat up outside but inside is nicer… not a lot of options but food is good overall…

I don’t live in Tallahassee. Every time I’m in town I make a point to stop at Sahara. It’s the best Mediterranean food I’ve ever had! I usually get the gyro platter, chickpea salad, and Greek salad. Their Greek salad dressing is absolutely the best I’ve ever had! Everything is freshly made! I highly recommend Sahara!

We got the combo with Lamb & Chicken. I got the fries and he got the cucumber & tomato salad. I’d come back here just for the scrumptious lentil soup! The homage lemonade is also really great with rose water and mint. I definitely recommend stopping by!
