The History of the Gold Mining day's, back in the 1800's was lovely to see at the 'Castlemaine Visitor's Information'. A beautiful display of Australian artists' paintings and Aboriginal art history, was also an unexpected delight to find. It's open 7 day's a week, so I suggest everyone travel to Castlemaine and take a look 😊

One of the best examples of an info centre I have seen. So well laid out in such a beautiful historic building. A large selection of art on display by local artists and a separate section devoted to the history of the local original tribes (owners) of the Land surrounding the wonderful City of Castlemaine - Love ❤️ this area!

Good quality art exhibitions and of course visitor info. Larger vehicles can find parking on the street nearby. Some permanent historic artefacts and info about the building make the visit interesting—the building is wonderful. Next door to a small shopping centre. Worth a visit even if you don't need info!

Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre Visited on 17/1i2/2020 I do not expect to walk into an art and craft exhibition hall. Besides walls of paintings, there are also craft, touring books, souvenirs and local produce. The staff are very helpful, and not only provide valuable local knowledge, informative brochures and maps, but also where to find the best pie in Castlemaine.

It is a stunningly beautiful old building, that houses community information & art. It wheel chair access at the rear of the building. Look up, when you enter the building. You'll see a stunning roof line. Take your camera.

Castlemaine has a sad lack of proper footpath once you exit the main drag which is a real hazard. This Visitor's centre is thankfully in the vibrant centre of city with 1 hr street parking on weekdays. With a stretch of my imagination - this visually arresting building's interior reminded me of Musee D'Orsay in Paris! Within the semi-circular vaulted steel beams & light filled space - the current Art exhibition is arranged strategically to show them off in the best light. The ornate main entry gates in itself is a work of art. Hard to believe that it was once a Market Building & was used as such from 1862 to 1967! I always make it a point to drop in on regional Visitor's centres - not only for info but also to buy gifts & local produce esp. when running out of time. Friendly helpful knowledgeable staff here. Castlemaine Rock (lolly) is no more - I had to settle for Maldon Rock instead.

An art gallery within the centre. Has plenty of brochures to help you decide.
