A sanctuary for Buddhists & a great exposure to the way of the Buddhist culture & philosophy for non Buddhists. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to The Stupa. This was my second visit & the Stupa looks superb with the completion of the crown (top) since my last visit. The grounds surrounding the Stupa are peaceful & have sections devoted to other faiths. Entry is by donation & up at the Stupa a donation can be made to light some incense & place a candle on the alter. There is the facility to pray if you would like to.

Lots to learn about other religion. Really inspiring to see the prayers embedded outside the temple. Cafe is also fantastic. The ambiance and the silence when having your coffee right outside the the cafe, overlooking the temple is just incomparable. The only improvement I can say is I hope the renovations in the temple gets finished soon as it takes away the authenticity and the mood inside.

A beautiful and peaceful place. Wonderful for contemplation. Still under construction and we look forward to visiting again in the future. Kind, friendly, very welcoming of all (including our dogs who were allowed in with us) I love the interfaith gardens and the Stupa itself is awesome and serene.

Magnificent, peaceful and tranquil place to be especially for some self-reflection despite different religions or beliefs. Located just a short drive out of Bendigo, The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is the largest Buddhist monument in Australia and they also have the largest gem jade Buddha in the whole world as the name suggests. We went on Australia day 2022 and they still open for public. However part of the road lead to the place was closed so we needed to take a short detour. The detour road was a bit rough but still easily acess by any cars. Free to entry. The whole area is quite big with some gardens, some prayer wheels area and the main monument with different statues. You can donate by cash in the box or they have a cashless machine for card donation too. Unfortunately, the monument is still under construction/renovation for awhile now. Hopefully, it would be completed soon so there will be more events and areas for visits especially inside the monument. They will check proof of vaccination. If its paper proof, not the app, they will check your ID too to ensure that its yours. Masks must be worn indoor. They offer daily guided tour by very friendly and informative staffs. Having a small shop and small coffee shop too. You can check the StupaView coffee shop's menu in the photos. Quite a good range of options. We went on a very hot day and they sell Bulla ice-cream too for $2/each. Surprisingly, their latte were very good too. Overall, highly recommended if you are in the area. We drove from Melbourne for 1.5-2 hours and its still worth it :)

An excellent relaxation area and cafe, helpful staff, and an informative visual presentation. It was one of the most peaceful places I have visited in a while. There is a sense of calm and serenity walking around the grounds. It almost gives you a sense of inner peace.

I would say this is one of the best temples I've ever been in Australia.. We were able to worship Sacred Relics of well-known Theros in Buddhism.. It is not that easy see such relics from naked eyes and it is such a rare opportunity.. Not only that, the temple has designed in a really attractive way. There's lots of things to learn and for those who like to do meditation, there is a meditation area as well. There is a cafe to have a light meal and coffee while having a chat.. you can even buy some amazing souvenirs as well. Highly recommended for a visit

Interesting place. They accept $10 recommended entry donations, but I was able to pay $1 Lots of mind-blowing statues. Waterfalls. It'd be best to go to at night with it all lit up

Visited in the pouring rain. Very long walk for disabled people from the carpark to the stupa. Struggled up with my walking stick only to see a woman transporting slightly older ladies in a golf type buggy. Shame I wasn’t told about that. Very impressive gardens and statues. Lots of information to learn as you walk around inside the stupa. Had a lovely conversation with the monk Ja…… inside about Alfred Nobel and Oppenheimer. I was a little perturbed about the dozens of sites requesting donations every several metres about the complex. Has a gift shop and vegetarian café

You can enjoy looking and walking around the big area of land. Its a very diverse place and the staff will guide and help you if you need it. At the start of you tour you can watch a 6 minute video that explains how The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion was built, what you can do there and more!

I wanted to see this jade Buddha made from a single large rock found in Canada. I was not disappointed. Firstly, the tranquil surroundings outside the Stupa itself was a big tick from me. I had misgivings about this place being overly commercialised and people walking in and out skin to any public attraction; but No. everyone I saw was respectful and mindful of where they were. This place has still a long way to go in terms of completion but the main building of the Great Stupa itself was about 75% completed. Walk around the gardens and soak in the peacefulness of the place. A rare commodity

One of the most peaceful locations I have visited in a very long time. The walk around the grounds feels calming and serene. It almost gives inner peace. The Stupa structure is stunning and peaceful. The cafe onsite is located at a good spot as from the seating area there is a great view of the Stupa.

Amazing structure amongst bushland. Beautiful statues. I admire what they are doing here. We were very excited that they serve vegetarian food, but to be honest it was not great. I was confused by the gardens as there were not many natives and what they are attempting to grow probably won't do well - I think they need an expert to plan their gardens.

Blessed to have visited finally! Although a lot of construction is still on, the inner sanctum offers a surreal peace the moment you step in. I was lucky to spend some time chatting with a monk and learnt that next year shall see more events happening in the premises. The statues presented are truly magnificent and the pics won't do justice to the grand scale and feel of the place..Go Visit.

Magnificent temple with beautiful gardens and statues. Entry is free, but a donation is appreciated. Four legged family members are welcome. Talk to the attending monk, he is very informative. Must visit when in Bendigo. Parking on the premises is not a problem.

A beautiful spiritual place of serene peace & beauty. Inclusive of all religions & beliefs. The largest Stupa in the southern hemisphere & the largest Green Jade Buddha in the world. A fascinating place to visit and a must see if you live in or are visiting Victoria!

The welcome was friendly, especially by the monk providing the introduction to the work in progress construction of the Stupa. It was more of an outline of the work done, and the work to be done, rather than of Tibetan Buddhism, but there were many books available for those interested.

A must visit place! Beautiful, peaceful and serene. Pictures taken on ILLUMIN8 Festival in May 2023. You won't regret it, especially if you're into spirituality.

What a beautiful place, the whole vibe was amazing. We spent a few hours looking around then had a tasty lunch in the cafe. The wet chi and veggie sausage roll was so nice. People very friendly and happy to answer questions. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Nice place to visit on a day trip to Bendigo. Not busy and calm place. 10-15 min drive from Bendigo city center. Recommended

Such a peaceful place. Relax, reflect, appreciate. The peace gardens are lovely with interesting sculptures from many religions. The temple itself stands majestically on the top of a hill. It is filled with Buddha's, relics, traditional and meaningful decorations. There is lots of information available for a self tour or a guided tour. There's a lot of work still to be done - plans are to paint the walls inside, to paint the still white Buddha's, and they're in the process of painting a ceiling mandala. There's a cafe with snacks and small meals available, as well as a shop for souvenirs etc. Staff were all very lovely- friendly and helpful. Entry by donation and your dog can come to. Next door at the Atisha Centre, they do meditation, retreats and Buddhist courses. Well worth visiting.

The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is a Buddhist monument near Bendigo in central Victoria, Australia. The basic idea for building the stupa came from Lama Yeshe and then, after Lama Yeshe's death, from Lama Zopa Rinpoche, who decided to model the stupa on the Great Stupa of Gyantse which is 600 years old. Parking facilities, cafeteria and toilet facilities available.

Absolutely stunning place to visit. I'm not religious in any way but the peaceful feeling emanating from walking around the grounds is almost surreal. I understand it's an ongoing project and was quite unfinished when we visited but beautiful non the less. There is food available at the cafe (vegetarian only) or Bendigo is quite close.

This great Buddha Stupa is a beautiful and peaceful place. It's a special symbol for Buddhists. The carvings and surroundings are amazing, and being there brings a sense of calmness. Visiting this sacred site is a truly meaningful and unforgettable experience." She how this place will self sustain itself as a small city , enclosed and away from metropolitan city.

saw this Great stupa from TV, wanted visit for a long time. by seeing them with my own eyes, so stunning, they build stuff from nothing, all the depends on the donations. the Guan Yin is my favourite, it’s been a while since i visit a temple. so peaceful. probably a little bit sunny, not a lot of shade, but i would say the visit are definitely worth it .

A must visit if you are in Bendigo. It's a little outside of the city but for a good reason. The place is quiet and tranquil. The majestic stupa is definitely the centre of attraction but the surrounding gardens are also as beautiful. Inside of the stupa had a prayer hall and dieties and some relics. Overall a great experience.

The temple's design is amazing, I statues are huge. But more could be translated to English, As alot of items you could look at but didn't know what they ment or said. The garden is growing which is lovely to see.

Excellent experience, relevance to many cultures. Helpful staff, informative visual presentation, great relaxation area and cafe. New statues and relics being added regularly, so repeat visits are well worth it for both outdoor and indoor enlightenment

Amazing temple that is usable even while still being built. I felt an amazing sense of calm during my visit even though there were literally hundreds of other visitors. The gardens are growing in magnificence further enhancing that overall sense of calm and peace. Definitely something you should see. One complaint (small one)... There were quite a few signs with no English translation and I find that a bit contentious and a bit unfair.
