Paid $25 for a Lamb Greek Salad that was missing both the Fetta and the Pine Nuts. The lamb skewers were both entree sized half skewers and one wasn't full at that. So maybe enough lamb for one full sized skewer at most. Although the lamb was cooked well and tasted great I was starving after having essentially a side salad and a lamb skewer for my meal. Worse still my partner paid $42 for what was a thin slice of steak with a lot of sinew. Not a scotch fillet! I've eaten here many times before and it's never great but this one takes the cake. Yet go to Wheelers Hill James Squire and you get the biggest juiciest perfectly cooked eye fillet steak imaginable. So dissatisfied. Add all this to the system of ordering through QR code and you'd be forgiven for thinking there are no staff at the venue, except to dump and run when serving food. They were pleasant enough when I asked questions, but they looked like the life had been sucked out of them. Go for the beer or wines for sure, but I wouldn't recommend the food or garden dining, which is next to the road and smoking area. Added bonus if the smoker is also going and the wind happens to be blowing in the wrong direction. It's a pity because they have the best location but this place just doesn't seem to have its S*#t together. EDIT Went back today and had the first good experience we've had here in years. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was terrific. The best part, we were told we could order through the damn painful and stupid app... Or at the bar. We chose the bar, what a relief. My faith is beginning to be restored. Fingers crossed they continue on the right path.

Service was average at best, with one particularly capable and kind enough staff member carrying a rather lethargic team for the most part. Our food was ordered (on an app, with no menu to read prior and no help from staff should we have had any questions) at the same time, meals were delivered to half the table 13 minutes after the first had arrived with no care, explanation or acknowledgment from staff. Big snaps to the sunset that night for putting on a ripper show that was in full view by most tables. Thankfully this distracted the birthday girl as she waited for her Negroni to arrive, taking a mortifying length of time to be made between being forgotten dockets and employees catch ups and chin wags that took priority. It is an attractive venue and the beer we had was nice, some fine tuning could make this place absolutely pop.

We were staying at the Nightcap at the Cheeky Squire and opted to dine in. The dining room and bar were busy, we didn't book but might need to during holidays. Good service, nice pub style menu, we shared a meal with a side, all good.

Delicious food and generous size. Service was great and fast. The live music was really enjoyable.

I waited a long time to dine here and I slapped my own face. The fish and chips was the worst I've ever had in Melbourne. Tastes not fresh. Must be prepacked frozen fish. There was no taste at all and the texture of the fish is powdery. The batter is chewy. I left it. Wasted my money. Sorry but truth be told.

Tuesday Dinner Service. Venue at 40% capacity max and over staffed. Customer service was absolutely atrocious. Entrees were served without side plates. When asked for they delivered plates to one tabe and expected to take the rest to the pther table ourselves. Water was NEVER offered or mentioned. Our tables food was ordered and two meals where completely missed. No apology offered. Just "we forgot to make them" these meals were served after everyone else had already finished. Our table remained full for the entire rest of the night. No plates cleared. No glasses cleared. The staff just puttered around making themselves look busy for the most part. Not a member of our party where impressed. As someone who has worked in hospitality for a very long time. I would personally be disgusted in any of my staff treated their patrons like this. We considered eating dessert but unfortunately there was no room on the table. I cant imagine how often people dont order desserts and coffee for this reason.

Well what a incredible surprise. Congratulations on a truly amazing place. Right on the foreshore side of Frankston amongst everything (food, night life & beach). Big props to the door managers. So friendly & easy going - the perfect people to greet you. A chilled & elegant vibe with lots of tables to sit & watch the sunset, be romantic or to have a rowdy party...this place rocks & rolls & it'll surprise you how BIG it is. Heaps of parking but be warned kitchen closes at 930pm 😜😋. Did I mention the door managers. Thank You. See you there again soon. G

Great decor, ambiance and beer but had just about the worst pizza I’d ever had. To their credit they replaced it but replacement was still fairly ordinary. Other family member’s meals were average. Would go back for a beer but not the food.

Place looks nice but it’s all style no substance. Seems like they forgot to season everything. The mac and cheese croquettes are bland and flavourless and the fried chicken burger just tasted like bacon and sweet bread. While the chicken itself is cooked well, there’s nothing flavourful about the batter or the inside of the burger. And the worst, the salad with grilled chicken. I don’t know how you mess up a salad but somehow they managed to do it. The chicken is dry and over cooked. Again, will someone use some salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, literally anything to give this place some flavour. I’d come here for a drink again but certainly not food. What a disappointment considering the price. Would be better off getting a kebab across the road.

The venue and staff are great bud sadly the standard of food and beverage is poor. Ordered a well done steak sadly received what I assume is medium rare and being one of the two tables being used I don't see how this could have been an accident in giving the customer the wrong order. Along with that ordering a lemon lime and bitters. By far one or the most bitter drinks I have had.

Went in their busiest time, Christmas parties in abundance. Food was great, used the qr code thingy to order and pay for the first time while the rest of our table went up to the counter to order. It was an easy evolution. Staff were friendly but run off their feet. As it was their busy time it was very loud.

Food and atmosphere were nice, comfortable space to eat and enjoy the buzz of a busy restaurant. Only disappointing bit was after half the table ordered via QR and the other half via the bar. The bar ordered food came out 15 minutes earlier than those who ordered via QR, and it was pretty obvious the kitchen had forgotten the meals ordered via QR. I know the staff are young and learning, but no one apologised or bothered to chuck an extra bowl of chips on the table as an "oops sorry guys, our bad there" and offset the bad experience by an extra small act of positivity. It's most often not hard to rectify an issue proactively to recover the guest experience rather than overlooking it, hopefully the business can grow a bit in that way.

Gorgeous pub with nice bay views. Staff have struggled to keep up times most times we have visited , so service can be quite slow. Food is always just ok. Never amazing. Steaks are not great and not worth the $40+ price tag. Not a bad spot to catch up for drinks only. Would love this place to have a larger cocktail selection though.

Food was delicious. Calamari, steak, kids pasta, lamb salad, dessert… everything on point. But… best thing about our dinner was the service. Jo Jo, you were amazing! Our daughter loved you, chatted about u the entire drive home 🤣. Thank you for making our dinner family friendly and super comfortable. We’ll always be back as the service (restaurant and security) has always been fantastic. Thank you 🙏🏼

What a great place a must visit for location and atmosphere. The food was great and it’s part of the Monties membership too. The bar has great beers on tap to choose from the steaks and service were terrific. Be sure to book as it’s very busy the view of beach river is lovely.

So disappointed upon entering Cheeky Squire Frankston a staff member approached us and advised a dress code was required. No where is it advertised a dress code is required. She aimed her request at my 15yr who was wearing shorts and a modest bikini top. We were asked for her to put a tshirt on and our 8yr old would need to put shorts on over her bathers When ordering we were told they didn’t sell jugs of soft drinks only glasses Our meals were brought out to us by a staff member who appeared to hate the world no smile just placed the food at the top of table left. Upon reaching across the table to get my child’s meal the soft drink was spilled. I asked for a cloth to clean the spill having already used all the napkins on our table it was not greeted warmly. No offer to replace the drink or ask if there was anything she could do to assist. Had the meal been passed closer to us the drink would not of been tipped over. My son ordered a burger no sauce when asked if it was correct reassured by staff only to have him bite into it and had tomato sauce. I will not be returning to this venue where staff do not care about a customers experience do not value the importance of food requests and give the impression they do not care.

The crowd is old and white, but that might just have to do with the demographics of Frankston. The setting is nice. It’s a very spacious place with outdoor seating. It can get very loud inside. The food came out quick and is moderately priced. Everything was good, but nothing AMAZING. Service could be improved by incorporating table service instead of having to order at the bar.

We decided to go to the Cheeky Squire in frankston today for lunch. It was a windy rainy day and we hadn’t booked. The two ladies at the Cheeky check in (Mon and Annette) were very accommodating. They assisted with the check in QR scanning process and then directed us to our wonderful sea side window table. The food was absolutely beautiful as you can see by the photos. The colorful shirt wearing guy at the cocktail station created a wonderful espresso, and white chocolate and passion fruit cocktails. Delicious!!!! Every staff we encountered with was professional and genuinely lovely. Chelsea and Anissa stood out for us. The whole experience at the Cheeky Squire was great. Thank you. We will be back for sure.

Good food; The fish was perfectly crispy and came with loads of fries and salad. Pizza was delish and so was the chicken burger. Seafood fettuccine was average. Large portions. Drinks were good. Service was good but food took a while to come. The place was packed so kitchen could have been busy. Toilets were decent. And you can watch the sunset from the deck.

Great venue. The meal was delicious. Order via the app on the table is quickest. Catered to an allergy without issue. Lovely looking out the window at the creek. We enjoyed lunch and a shared desert. Yum! I think the tables need to be resurfaced they are very sticky.

Went here for an early lunch on Sunday It was quiet at the time. Food was generally good, pizza came out barely warm towards the middle. Pizza better when put through the oven again. Schnitzel was good, fried chicken burger was good. Scan at table to order meals arrived quick. Orders placed at bar before the others were forgotten and required someone to give them a shake up after other meals had arrived.

A great pub that has carved itself into the identity of the Frankston foreshore. I love coming down to the Cheeky Squire, whether it's to watch some live music after a meal or even just chilling out in the comfortable outdoor areas with some friends and have a beer or two. This place has a bit of everything no matter what you're looking for.

Food was quite good, we had an issue with one of being charged double for one drink. The manager rectified it very quickly and easily.

Food was nice, children's menu very unhealthy, table service slow, spasmodic and very unprofessional. Waited ages for one of our meals, and had to ask where our desserts were after waiting for so long. All in all nice food, pleasant young staff but training desperately needed in 'hospitality'.

  • 4/5 Jason C. 1 year ago on Google
I found this place very nice, a little bit pricey but still very reasonable, the acoustics were nice and the atmosphere was nice. The only thing I would’ve liked is the staff to be just a little bit more friendly, they were very much a matter of fact and not super friendly, not rude either by any means, just not chatty

  • 3/5 Simone R. 2 years ago on Google
Service from the staff was really good despite the inconvenience of having to order through the QR code. Food was average unfortunately but we still enjoyed our experience. The tasting paddle board beer was enjoyed by our group and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. Would come back for a beer/ to enjoy the view/place but would skip food next time.

Easy going LARGE venue, good food and wide range of beer and wine. Great outlook over the Kananook Creek and the sea. Great for a group to have fun when the footy is on the big screen. Worth a visit.

Oh my gosh. Soooooo good. We chose the "6 for $65" and every piece was amazing. Delicious, fabulous serving sizes and the staff were awesome. Great vibe to the whole place, and the drinks were top notch too!

This was my first visit to Cheeky Squire and I was impressed! Huge open inviting space with dedicated bar and restaurant areas, table service was prompt and efficient. I ordered the Cheeky Cheeseburger, which was a tasty meal, however would have liked the chips to be a little nicer. Worth a visit for the beers alone, the Golden Ale was smooth.

literally no service was provided then had the audacity to ask for a tip through the app while I ordered my own food. Staff were literally chatting to each other in the bar and made it clear we have to use the QR code to order… I pay “$50” for a steak for the inclusive experience which heavily includes the service I am offered which was close to 0. Even made me pour my dad’s beer in a glass for him.

Awesome food. Had the best southern fried chicken burger ever here. Succulent, moist and packed with flavour. Friendly bar staff, good prices and a decent venue for casual meals and a few drinks with friends.

Pleasantly surprised this week with a great experience for dinner. This was after an ordinary experience a couple of months ago. This time, from the phone booking when Joanna the new restaurant manager, took the booking with enthusiasm, to the great service and amazing food, we were pleased we had given CS another go. Great venue, awesome service and the really good food. Seems the new manager has made a big difference!

Table of 9 First part of the order came in 10 minutes (2 cheeseburgers) Second part of the order came 30 minutes later. 2 meals still have not arrived after 50 minutes. Still waiting on another cheeseburger and pizza and garlic bread. So in a nutshell - really average service and really bad service. The fish and chips is the worst I have ever had. Cold chips and over cooked fish with the worst batter that I have ever encountered. If you want my advice. Save your money and go elsewhere. This place is not worth the money at all.

  • 3/5 Wendi R. 4 months ago on Google
Had our Christmas party there for the second year in row. Created a Tab on our phone as per our Budget. Was given a card for that Tab to be used at the Bar. The orders made at the Bar were not added to our running total and added at the end which made us go over Budget. Great way to get extra money out of people. Extremely disappointing considering everything else was great and everyone had a good time. This needs to be fixed or make it clear when giving the card for the bar those orders will not be added to the Tab.

Came for a friend's birthday dinner on a Saturday night. Lady security very nice, even popped our tables together as we had a large group. Food tasty, and good sized portions for the prices. We did have two meals we did have to chase up, otherwise everyone enjoyed their meals Don't come here if you like quiet though- it is a sports bar and gets very noisy. 4/5 Pics: falafel burger, and entrees calamari.

  • 1/5 Emily B. 5 months ago on Google
The food wayyy too oily. The calamari was decent but all the pasta dishes and covered in oil. The one I ordered I didn’t even eat it I couldn’t I wanted to vomit. Tried to tell chef I wasn’t happy with it could I swap because it wasn’t tortellini I expected but they just left me with what I ordered fair enough I took one bite then and nearly threw up I think they used a whole bottle of olive oil. Stay away from that pasta dishes if you care about your health way to much olive oil or you will be on the way to a hospital with a disease. Keep in mind all the food is WAY overpriced so you are paying for buckets of oil and disease

Caught up with a mate for lunch here. Not a bad location near the beach with parking out the back. Meals are the standard casual pub fare - burgers, steak, fish and chips and parma etc. A good James Square beers available are available, I enjoyed the pilsner.

We went here to share a meal together after my mum's wake. The place looks amazing I remember it as it was years ago. The food was the best around my sons had the streaks & the meat just melted in your mouth & the chicken parmigiana was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Was a great way to finish off a very hard day.

  • 4/5 Katrina W. 1 year ago on Google
Waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to be served lunch (pizza and a burger). Pizza was oily and warm, burger was alright but chips were warm, not hot and fresh as expected. Expected more of such a large venue. I spoke to other patrons who waited 2 hours for their lunch to arrive. If management see this review, I highly recommend the menu is condensed to fewer items to speed up service in the future.

We decided to go and check out the cheeky squire last night for our Monday night feed. The bistro was surprisingly busy for a Monday night which is always a good sign! The view of the beach and the kananook creek was a highlight! The service was very good and very helpful. We ordered everything together using the QR code on the table (drinks and food) the drinks came out very quickly! The only odd thing is the entrée came out with our mains instead of before. Very good experience we will be back with family soon!

Attended for a friend's birthday, first time there in maybe 20 years, the place is huge and nicely laid out. We were in a private room that was nicely isolated from the main meal and bar area. Only a small selection of beers in the room which required you to go to the main bar for a bigger selection of tap beers. As I enjoy tasting various beers, I didn't mind that only James Squire beers were on offer, but some might not enjoy the limited range. There was a good range of foods covering most tastes I'd think, I didn't hear of any complaints from others, I shared some buffalo wings and various seafood and salad, all cooked perfectly to my liking. The meals tasted like a standard sauce but with additional spices added that enhanced the flavour without being overboard. For 3 schooners and more food than l could eat the night cost just over $60. The birthday cake was a home made one in the shape of a English coppers 'bobbies' helmet and topped of a great night.

  • 4/5 G S. 1 year ago on Google
A good location and nice ambience. The food is alright for the price but not really that great. Staff really doesn't check on you or anything unless you walk up to bar and ask for help if you need anything. But good experience overall.

  • 3/5 Michael 1 year ago on Google
Nice beer selection. Some unique squires on tap! The food was pretty average though, chips were deep fried to within an inch of their life, burger was also pretty grim, sweet potato fries, sweet potato chunks on burger. Here's some sweet potato with your sweet potato! Friendly staff, good atmosphere for footy games. I'd go back but not to eat.
