Best grocery store in Carrum downs. Indian grocery available at affordable prices 😊where You can buy from spices to fresh vegetables 🍅 🌽 🌶 . You can also get variety of snacks, sweets, drinks 🥤 🍹 and many more. Moreover it is a place where you can buy Pooja items, plants, utensils (steel, copper, non-stick) many other household things. 10/10😊😊

Most unprofessional place to shop, no price tickets many shelves, crates, left over stock in few lines, watery-wet floors sometimes but never taken care of, out of date stock still on show and on the top of all..... LOUDEST MUSIC ALWAYS ON which wouldn't allow you to talk or to be on the phone....... Used to give $5 discount but now pushes you to voucher to eat at their restaurant which is not even tasty or aromatic..... They need strong competitors.....

Te store is perfect . It has got everything. The worst part is the customer service at the counter. They don’t respect the customers at counter. Rude customer service at counter . They don’t even respond to you if you say thank you with smiling face. They consider that they are doing favour on customers. So it will great if they think about how to respond to a customer when they come to pay bill at counter . Minimum they can do is atleast keep smile on face .

Staff needs to be trained while serving on the counter with proper skills in regards of listening and communication not like a a a ya ya etc. We go to this shop whenever we pass close by and spend approx $500 normally. We paid $200 worth of grocessary last Thursday in which we clearly said to the operator lady who served us ,one Curry plant as well from outside, very clearly as it was our 1st time we bought plant from there. when she was going to start scanning for groceries. (Check your cameras ,my husband even pointed her out). How could we know did she scanned or entered the product or not because we started unloading the stuff. Also we we did not double check the list as well with that many items. Again we went into the store to buy one more stuff as we forgot to buy ,if it's our intentions why could we come back again and with the same lady we asked for the product location. She should speak to us that time about this if she forgot to charge us by her mistake. WHAT A SHAME AND DISCUSTING ALLIGATION THESE PEOPLE reported that our father theft the plant .SHAME ON YOU GUYS , It's your operator fault who needs to pay attention while serving what the custmor is saying .So that people like us should not regret & feel uncomfortable who never came in such situations.(Check the records) Really,SHAME ON YOU before saying this you should check your cameras and your people first before pointing out somebody. AS WE LIVE FAR AWAY FROM THERE ,we will return your stuff back to police station and if you want take your stuff back as well. But trained your staff ,so that any innocent person won't come in this or any other situation as well in future.

Good food & nice ambience. The tables are little too small for four big plates in which you are served food. There parking on premise and on street. Toilet was clean too.

Avoid like the plague.. do not buy online. bought a bunch of stuff online, paid $10 for delivery. Then they called and informed me the frozen coconut was out of stock and I refused a substitute. Then they said two more items were out of stock and I was happy to pick a substitute for those. After a couple of hours I get an email about a bunch of stuff being out of stock, this was more than 70% of my order. So I rang them to cancel the entire order but no one picked up, i email them but only responded when the order was delivered. they refunded me the missing items, but I paid delivery for the whole order if I knew it was just a few packs I would have gone to the shops. Do not buy online from them.

Great variety of spices and food mixes. Limited range of fresh vegetables. Everything you could possibly want from an Indian spice shop. Very clean and neatly kept products at reasonable prices. Convenient location and great parking right outside. Location next to other indo supply shops. Very helpful staff and friendly patient service at checkout.

We love south Indian food & on Google search we decided this was a destination. After having dinner there ,on the following early morning we had severe diarrhea, literally threw up everything that we ate. Either the food left over by customers have been recycled or very bad in food hygiene and safety. Unforgettable experience.

Our group had a vegan person and when asked if they have vegan dosas available. The staff did not understand what vegan meant. The dosas were crisp but bit bitter. They are reasonably priced, but curries were not very tasty.

Great place to get South Indian Snacks and all cooking essentials. Love the prices here, much like Costco - wholesale prices but for Indian groceries. Indian grocers in the CBD/inner city areas are full of North Indian items which I love equally, but sometimes one needs their Bru Coffee and Paniarram. Yum! Great variety always, makes sense because they are the biggest importers in Victoria. Sabrini head office is also around the corner. It's much like MedFoods for Mediterranean / Middle Easters groceries.

I’m very satisfied with your products in general. I’d give 5 stars for the stuff you have. Today it’s a 3 because of the girl who served us. She gave us the most dirtiest look at the checkout we felt so offended. This girl clearly is not happy doing this job. Give this to someone else who is more customer friendly. I put this review straight away so you can ID the girl. Thanks.

I asked the lady if there is something for the kid as a quick bite, as the wait time was long, she wasn't very polite and shruggingly responded looking away Also they dont tell you that the wait time is 1 hour when you order. You don't get a chance to consider your options Other thing is that they don't give you right estimate of time. We were made to wait 30 mins more after she said order is 10 mins more. Very misleading Chicken was not good but south indian dishes were ok

The food has a good variety, and quality, that is decently priced. However, the negative side to this is their reluctance to serve table water as is required thereby boosting their bottled water sales. Besides being heavy on the hip pockets, empty plastic bottles are bad for the environment. The grocery store is well stocked and in my opinion, is their draw card.

It's a big Indian grocery store with various product categories. But there aren't plenty of options to choose from. Most of the products are from Vel brand, which are ok to good.

Variety of options, great deals, competitive prices. It a big spacious store, with parking in front of store. They have curry plants and tulsi plants in pots. One of the best places to buy South Indian grocery, including Ponni boiled rice in 20 or 25kg sacks. Conveniently located in front of the Hindu Shiva Vishnu Temple.

Good variety and quality stuff with lower prices. We always get the 5kg packs if possible or the maximum size pack available. Store looks clean and very organised. Gave 4 stars as I had to go look for the cashier to check out.

They deserve ZERO stars. Placed an order for 3 packets Beetle leaves (to take to the Temple) on 2 January. Cost me $21.10. Did not receive it on time. No tracking number. Nothing. Contacted Val’s Spice through PayPal. Asked for a refund and they say they can’t refund me as there is a case open on PayPal. So I asked where my product was and when will I be receiving it? Get an email back from them saying they are confused as to why I want the item delivered. So I replied back saying if you can’t refund me the money then send me the product I paid for. It arrived today and I only received 2 packets of Beetle leaves (NOT 3) and the leaves were all black. The leaves were NOT fresh. How can I take this rubbish to the Temple???? I will NEVER buy anything from these dishonest people again. DISGRACEFUL VEL SPICES It’s common sense to send fresh produce through a Courier and NOT by Aust Post. These people are a disgrace to all Indian people.

I bought grocery from SKV Groceries today. For Jk red kidney beans dark -4 kg they charged me $18.99 but on the website it’s shows $15.99. I lived in Clyde north. They also start charging over price for an items.

Been coming here for years. Some great products and prices are decent. Ample parking at the front and the temple is just up the road for a great cheap meal if you’re hungry for authentic Indian food.

I just rang to ask if they have or had access to Sri Lankan chill plants. Got told had no stock. So I asked if they were going to get stock in. The person on the other end of the line said that he did not know when they were getting them in. I asked if he knew where I can get them. He did not answer me and promptly hung up. He was rude and did not understand English. He should not be answering the phone if he does not know how to treat potential customers. It makes the business look bad.

Avoid buying groceries from this shop at all cost!!. They have terrible communications etiquette. All phone calls go to voice mail. They take 7 days to respond to simple messages. No one understands what they are talking about. Zero customer service experience. They try hard not to sell you anything to make their job easy!

A nice place to shop for most South Indian groceries. A bit slow in customer service. Definitely recommend checking your bill as you can be charged for items if you change your mind at the check-out.

The Indian groceries here are a lot more affordable compared to other indian grocery stores (especially in the western suburbs where I live). They also have a large variety of Pooja/devotional items to shop from which is great

Good shop in Carrum Downs for Indian groceries. They have two outlets, and one has a restaurant adjacent to it. Not very expensive, South Indian items served.

Nice grocery store and restaurant conveniently located close to the Shiva temple. We like the snacks a lot - especially the vada and lamb and chicken rolls.

On their website price is different and when you go to shop price is higher then what they shows on their website. And when I ask one of the guy who was standing on counter that why it is like this then he said It is what it is if you want to buy then buy it or you can buy from somewhere else. One of the worst staff. Very impolite. Never go here to buy anything. Even you can find at coles or Woolworths cheaper then them

Cafes are supposed to be clean and hygienic. Vel Spices was anything but. Dirty plates on most tables. Food scraps on the floor. We wanted Masala Chai and was told there was none but the table next to us are having it. Place can only be described as disgusting. Asked a waitress to clean up and was told that she was on her break so couldn't do anything. ABSOLUTELY NO PRIDE. But the food was acceptable.

Not good for online shopping. Placed order on Saturday, received order confirmation with no delivery ETA. Monday received an email saying the goods been shipped. Tuesday late evening still not delivered. If it is not for Covid Isolation, it is a 30 minute job for me. People have reasons for online shopping, if you can't get right, please be upfront, not to procrastinate..

They generally reply to your query on whatsapp for the items you need. Sometimes you will find they are busy on whatsapp but they try their best and they definitely help you in looking out for items which you don’t find online. I was not finding some pooja items online but they had it in their stock so they informed me accordingly and sent me invoice. Their service is very fast and they dispatched the items very quickly and I got the parcel in time. I am grateful for their great service for the sending the items on time as it was quite urgent for me as a certain pooja had to be performed on a specific date which needed those items I ordered from them.

We always go in this store even if it is for a quick run - after visiting the Carrum Downs temple. The store does have plenty of options - ranging from spices to pulses and Puja materials, and its aisles are quite spacious unlike other stores I have been to.

  • 4/5 Sahil M. 1 year ago on Google
They have a huge variety of options, if you need something that you cant find in your local indian grocery store, its most likely that you can find it here. For the temple or pooja related stuff, i would recommend to go to SKV groceries which is a minute drive from this place and opposite to the temple. My friend's mother needed some things for the navratri pooja and she found it in that store. Vel spices also had those but the variety for temple or pooja related stuff is more at SKV. For everything else, Vel spices is the best choice. The prices are good too.

I baught yesterday Agrahar chakka varatty. It expired 2 months before they are selling this kind of foods there.. I forgot to check it before buying. That’s my fault. When I come back home I noticed. Maybe they are greedy. That’s why selling this kind of expired items.. not going to visit again..

I am ordering from this business not the first time. The staff is responsible, polite, professional and eager to help. Communication is timely and efficient, via email or SMS. If certain item is out of stock, I am notified via email, and money returned immediately to the account it's been paid from. The staff contacts me even if the item is of different brand to make sure that I am satisfied with the change. The delivery fast and efficient: within day or two maximum. Very happy with Vel Spices and would highly recommend them
