I hired Brittany (Brinn) to be my doula for my September delivery. We had 3 pre-natal meetings and made a plan for my induction/delivery. She never showed up to the hospital during labor, delivery or postpartum. Long story short she claimed (after the fact) that I never invited her to the birth when I was in the hospital, which is a true head scratcher considering I paid her $1200, we had 3 pre-natal appointments coming up with a birth plan, and I was texting her all the updates during my labor. She told me she would come to the hospital once I was induced... but she never did. She just would say "let me know if you need anything".. Which I just took as she didn't think it was "time" yet as far as my labor progress was concerned. If she needed a personal invitation to come to the hospital, the time to remind me would have been when I went to the hospital.. or even remind me a week prior.. but it was never brought up during our meetings. The entire hospital and clinic staff that I encountered kept asking where my doula was. They were shocked she wasn’t there and assured me that this wasn’t standard doula care. I reached out to the owner, Sherilee about a week after birth. She took a week to email me back initially, acknowledged what the doula did was wrong, offers me a small refund, and then I never heard from her again. I took to my credit card company to dispute the charges for services and the owner fought half of them claiming I got “half the services” - I got pre-natal care, yet was charged for labor/delivery and postpartum as well. The doula was not there at the hospital (I was there for 4 days). Postpartum I received ZERO support. I had to hire a different lactation consultant to help with breastfeeding (a service the doula was supposed to provide). In my own opinion.. based on my personal experience, I’m unable to recommend Baby Nest Birth Services or Brittany (Brinn) for doula services. Integrity should be the foundation of any business, and the owner truly failed that one. The doula never reached out to apologize, and the owner never responded to my emails after the initial email.

The best advice I got while pregnant was to hire a doula. I am so glad I did - it was the best decision I made! I am a Type A personality, and being pregnant for the first time and a new mom totally rocked my world - everything was new. I hired both a birth doula and a postpartum doula from Baby Nest. I couldn't recommend them more! Brinn Lawrence was my birth doula - we had a series of pre labor zoom meetings to talk through our options, our fears and anxieties, and she helped us know what to expect. Her encouragement and guidance throughout the process was incredibly helpful. Sherilee was our postpartum doula - I couldn't sing her praises enough. There are no words to describe how much I appreciated her. She supported me as I healed from delivery, she snuggled my little one when I needed to take a nap or shower, she did food prep for our family, and she helped my husband bottle-feed my little man for the first time. I wouldn't hesitate a second to hire them again.

I hate to leave this review bc I really was excited about their services, I paid for the placenta caps and some extras. Everything great until my hospital told me I had gotten an infection during labor, I texted with someone from the company and they helped me understand it could be from the epidural and what to do next. My hospital would not do testing for me to confirm infection in my placenta, so I couldn’t end up keeping it. In the contact babynest gives you says that you can cancel, with them keeping the 50$ retainer, totally understandable, I tried to do that and couldn’t find a way to cancel. I also texted and wrote multiple emails over the last 2 months about getting my money back and have never gotten a response. To me that’s really disappointing bc I feel that as a company that is directed towards soon to be, new mothers and families they should be willing to do this or at very least respond. As a new mother that’s not currently working I could definitely use that money back. Now if this situation was covered in the contact and said I wouldn’t be able to get my money back I wouldn’t be so upset bc I would have agreed to that when I signed it but what I didn’t sign up for was to have no services done and still be out close to 400$.

I can’t say enough about Baby Nest. We had 30 hours of doula services and I did placenta encapsulation. I didn’t know much about placenta encapsulation when I decided to do it but I knew that I had terrible postpartum anxiety with my first son and wanted to try everything I could to avoid it this time. First of all, the process was seamlessly easy. I told my birth team at the hospital that I was encapsulating and they knew what to do to wrap it up and got solve for it until the specialist could arrive. I texted the placenta specialist after I had my baby and she came and collected it, encapsulated it, and dropped it off at my doorstep without me having to do anything. I started taking the capsules when my son was 3 days old and took them until he was 6 weeks old. I didn’t have any symptoms of postpartum depression or anxiety! My milk supply was great and I just felt better overall than I did with my first son. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend placenta encapsulation to all moms! We also got 30 hours of postpartum doula services. Cynthia was a literal Godsend. From meal prep, laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, and hanging out with our kids, she did it all! She also knew exactly what we needed done and was able to keep herself busy when our whole family was sleeping. Often I would wake up from a nap to a clean kitchen and laundry that was folded and put away! Having an extra set of hands was invaluable and I honestly don’t know how we would’ve survived without Cynthia.

We took Sherilee's in-person Birth Dates class. It was exciting, fun, and incredibly helpful! We used a lot of the techniques and information that we learned there to prepare for the labor and it really came in handy. The vibe was always warm and inviting and never overwhelming, even for brand new soon-to-be parents like us. I would highly recommend it to people for their first birth (and even people who have already been through it but want to know more!) I also used Sherilee's placenta encapsulation service. She had a prior relationship with our doula so their partnership made the whole process super easy. My doula brought her the placenta straight from the hospital and Sherilee delivered the finished capsules to our house a few days later, which was nice because in the first few days after birth it can be pretty overwhelming to go anywhere. Overall fantastic, 5/5. Thanks so much Sherilee!

Inge-Lise helped coach us through the preparations and delivery of our first child and after looking back at the experience, I can't imagine what it would've been like without her help. She helped us cross the final hurdles of growing our family and holds a place in our hearts as part of our family herself. Thank you so much Inge-Lise!! From the very beginning she gave us excellent resources to prepare ourselves with. She showed my wife lots of different exercises to encourage proper positioning (our baby was in a transverse position for part of the 2nd and 3rd trimesters, which was a big worry for both my wife and I) and gave me tools to help as well. She was an exceptional advocate and always willing to field our questions/worries with medically sound, research-backed answers. If she wasn't able to address something that we brought up in the moment, she would always get back to us later with an answer and helpful advice. An excellent example of her wholistic care approach was when my wife was having mis-givings about the OBGYN she selected and shared her concerns with Inge-Lise, who listened and help encouraged my wife to make a decision that was right for herself based on her delivery goals. While she didn't counsel us to seek a new provider, she did encourage us to really think about and listen to what WE wanted and that helped us decide for ourselves to pick a different care provider (which we were VERY happy we did)! My wife's labor was long and difficult and through the whole experience Inge-Lise always had our back and stood by us through multiple days and some challenging decisions. I could keep going, but I'm not sure if anyone reads beyond the first few lines of a review anyhow and I would just be restating how awesome our experience was. In short, thank you again Inge-Lise for being our coach and friend, we're forever grateful!!

Inge-Lise was SUCH an incredible support person to have during my labor and delivery. She was always supportive, encouraging, and we truly felt like she cared for us and our daughter every step of the way. There were complications that came up during my delivery, and having Inge-Lise there made all the difference. She was a calm, comforting presence during a time when I was worried for our daughter, and I am so thankful for that! As this was our first child, Inge-Lise was also very helpful when I had questions about anything. She was always happy to answer questions and send us resources to help us make informed decisions about the labor and delivery of our daughter. If you're looking for someone who is kind, supportive, great at communicating, and who will truly care for you and your baby, Inge-Lise would be my recommendation for a doula!

Our experience with Sherilee was fantastic, we will be new parents and had a lot to learn about the birthing process. It was also a great time to deeply bond and understand one another during this journey. We thank Sherilee for the amazingly warm charisma and the support she gave us during this wild ride to becoming new parents.

My husband and I took the In Person Birth Dates classes with Sherilee, we truly had an incredible experience and benefitted greatly from her teachings. My fear of labor and birth went from a 10 to a 4 after finishing this course. We were given tools and resources that we now get to continue referencing and building from as we are on this journey of having our first child. In class, not only did Sherilee focus on the needs of moms, but equally spoke to the dads in the room incorporating them at every stage and giving them tools and resources to be active participants and supporters during the labor and delivery process. We highly recommend this service to all new parents or anyone who is desiring to learn how to have an empowered labor and delivery experience.

Inge-Lise was a amazing addition to our birth support team! She is incredibly informed and helped take away some of the nerves when my wife was preparing for labor. During the birth itself, she helped keep us calm and focused. With her help with breathing exercises, positioning, and overall support, we were able to have a very positive labor and delivery! She even checked in regularly after the birth and answered a lot of questions that were stressing a new mom. We are so grateful for the help she provided!

My wife and I are expecting our first baby in February and are so excited, yet a little nervous of all the unknown's. My wife owns a Local Doula agency in Portland so I have learned a little over the years from her about what labor looks like and different scenarios that may happen. But it feels so much different when you are experiencing it yourself. Our doula Natalie that works for my wife’s agency suggested that we check out Sherilees birth class at Baby Nest, and we are so thankful that we did! Sherilee was and is such a warm and fun teacher to have! She made us feel involved during the class and answered all of our questions that we had, thoroughly. Coming into this as a new father I learned so much about different ways to support my wife during pregnancy & labor. All the different stages of labor.. and so much more. I can’t wait to put them all to use! I cannot thank her enough for all of the things I learned in her classes, I feel much more confident and comfortable with all of the tools and knowledge I gained. Thank You Sherilee!

Inge-Lise made our birth experience go from terrifying and chaotic to manageable. We cannot imagine going through this process without her support. She was available throughout our pregnancy, checking in to make sure we were developing as expected and taking note of anything that might impact labor. Once labor started Inge-Lise was quick to respond to our messages and came over on two separate occasions to help with the progression. She had me in multiple positions throughout labor, helping push myself into uncomfortable ones but being respectful when I needed to back off. Most importantly, she provided a calming presence and was a huge support to my partner throughout the entire process. While I don't remember much about my labor, my husband is eternally grateful for how much knowledge and guidance she provided. This allowed me to focus on the labor and not stress about him feeling overwhelmed. After our birth, Inge-Lise has still continued to provide support ranging from suggestions for lactation help to sleep guidance. We now have a one month old and still receive messages asking how we are doing. We cannot recommend Inge-Lise enough!

My husband and I are so thankful we had Inge-Lise’s support throughout my pregnancy and birth of our son. Friends recommended her to us after their own wonderful experience, and I’m so glad they did. It was the best decision we could’ve made for ourselves as first time parents, and it really made everything such a positive experience. I saw a lot of different providers during prenatal check ups, so it was really nice having Inge-Lise as a constant presence throughout the pregnancy. She checked in with us and shared helpful information and online resources. As our due date approached, she helped us put together our birth plan and was able to offer insightful advice without judgment. I cannot imagine my delivery without her. As soon as she got to our room, she immediately comforted me in a way no one else had been able to do before she arrived. She helped me relax between contractions and guided me through positions. After we left the hospital, she visited us and continued to check in via text. She even typed up the timeline of my labor and delivery, which was amazing since it was a bit of a blur for me. We truly felt like she shared our joy at the birth of our son, and are so glad she was a part of that incredible experience. We can’t thank her enough and can’t imagine the experience without her!

I am not that fringe or hippie of a person but my main concern after labor and delivery was finding a way to mitigate postpartum depression without man-made chemical intervention. Whispers about placenta ingestion of course came up and I found Baby Nest. I purchased the most sanitized package (if you have GbH) because I ordered before they tested me to be safe. The packaging is nice, the capsules are gelatin and break apart easily, which worked for me because I have an aversion to large pills. Tincture hasn't been used yet but both bottles seem made of sturdy glass. (I break the capsules into fancy Ginger Beer to down them. Works great!) Will purchase again if we have another baby!

We chose to attend classes with Sherilee at BabyNest and it was a great decision! We wanted an in-person class where we could meet other couples who were going through pregnancy at the same time as us. We also wanted to meet Sherilee in person so we would feel comfortable hiring her as a post-partum doula. She was kind, informative and easy-going. We learned so much in her 5 week (1 day per week) course and now we have a wonderful birth booklet we will be taking with us to the hospital full of her notes and ours. It will be a great reference tool for any future labor and deliveries as well.

Baby Nest Birth Service was such an excellent experience for me and my husband. Sherilee is AMAZING and was so great to learn from. The information she provides in her classes are pure gold and made me and my husband feel empowered to take on such a big life event. I felt so prepared going into labor which was a huge relief and my husband knew how to coach me and be by my side through every step. We had so many tools that we learned to help us through everything. I would recommend and highly suggest any mom-to-be to Baby Nest Birth Services! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

We took the in-person Birth Dates class to prepare for our upcoming birth and this class exceeded our expectations. We read a TON of baby books and took other courses, but this one left us feeling the most equipped and prepared to head into the unknown of labor. The classes included a little bit of everything to solidify new skills - hands on learning, movement exercises, labor practice, and even art. One thing I particularly loved was how relaxed I felt after each class, which is going to be necessary for birth! We feel a lot more confident and prepared after taking the class, and appreciate Sherilee's compassionate support and creative approach to teaching. I highly recommend Baby Nest classes!!

My husband and I cannot begin to explain how helpful these classes have been! I have to say, we were both skeptical and didn't know if we really needed to take classes. Well, we were wrong. The amount of information we learned amazed both of us and Sherilee made the class fun as well as very informative. Highly recommend the Birth Date courses!

Sherilee is a fantastic birth educator. We took her Birth Dates prenatal prep class and couldn't be happier. I was looking for something that explained coping with natural birth, used the Bradley technique, and also talked about medical intervention as well. It was a great balance of all those and we walked away feeling so much more informed about our choices in birth and actually excited for the process instead of scared. Highly recommend her class!

Hiring a postpartum doula was one of the best decisions I made while pregnant with my first child. Sherilee was such an incredible resource during those first weeks with our baby. C was born on the smaller side, so we had lots of discussions about feeding, and Sherilee offered positive and caring support, including bringing over a baby scale so we could keep track of her progress. My husband and I started joking that the first 30-45 minutes after Sherilee arrived would be our joint therapy session about everything that had happened since her last visit. Having Sherilee as an experienced resource during those sleep deprived and emotionally raw weeks of having a newborn was immeasurably helpful. And then once things settled down, Sherilee did meal prep; on top of everything else, she's an incredible cook! I can't recommend Sherilee enough!

We just finished taking the five week Birth Prep course from Baby’s Nest with Sherilee, and I don’t have the words to describe how useful and encouraging it was and how prepared both my husband and I feel for the upcoming birth of our first baby. I went into it having read a ton of books and felt pretty educated before, but every class I learned new things and deeper information on topics. I also really valued how the class brought together couples from all over Portland and made a small community for us to get to know each other and realize we’re not alone in our questions and worries and experiences. My husband commented several times that he was grateful for how much information Sherilee includes for birth partners to know how to support the birthing parent so he feels prepared knowing what to expect and not at a loss for how to be useful. I can’t recommend this class enough! We’re also using a doula hired through Baby’s Nest, and have had a wonderful experience so far! Will update after the birth too:)

My husband and I enrolled in the Baby Nest Birth Services 5-week birthing course (BirthDates), as well as a breastfeeding course and a postpartum course before the birth of our first child in December of 2021. Due to the pandemic, the courses were conducted via Zoom with the instructors, as well as other classmates. We found the courses provided us with an immense amount of information that helped us feel much more prepared and less anxious going into such a monumental event. Sherilee is a very personable instructor and does an excellent job of presenting course material for not just the mothers-to-be, but also the fathers as well, highlighting ways that couples can help support each other, and reduce some of the uncertainty or worry that comes with childbirth. Thank you again for your help in getting our parenting journey off to a confident, well-informed start!

I cannot recommend Baby Nest enough. My husband and I welcomed our first baby last month, and we went through Baby Nest for Bradley Method birthing classes, our doula and placenta encapsulation. It is awesome to have a local company that provides all of these services. Bradley Classes: Sherilee did an excellent job taking these classes virtual because of the pandemic. We received supplies in the mail beforehand and were given access to a Google Classroom space that housed many documents and videos for reference. Each class was a nice blend of interactive activities, lecture and practice time for relaxation techniques. Bradley Method is traditionally thought of as anti-intervention, but Sherilee presented the information well and in such a way that each mother felt comfortable understanding her options during birth. We were given education without any judgment cast on the various interventions available. (This was especially helpful for me. I had planned on a natural birth, but my son ended up needing to be born by cesarean and we begrudgingly opted for a variety of interventions along the way to try to avoid the c-section. I felt confident in my decisions because I had already learned about each option that was offered to me.) Doula: Heather was an absolute gem. She met with us twice before the baby was born, was readily available for questions along the way, was SO helpful during my difficult birthing experience, and has continued providing support to us afterward (including two postpartum visits). She is knowledgeable in relaxation options and Spinning Babies techniques and was a great advocate for me and my husband while our birth plan was unraveling. I hope to be able to have her by my side again when we have our next baby! Placenta Encapsulation: This was probably the easiest part, because our doula was able to take my placenta from the hospital back to Baby Nest, and then my pills were delivered to our home a couple days later. It was an added treat to get to meet Sherilee in person (safely!) and share our birth story with her. I have no previous postpartum experience to compare this one to, but I have not experienced any postpartum depression or anxiety while taking these pills. I have also felt much more energetic than I expected after having a c-section and getting short bursts of sleep with my newborn. Each of these services felt 100% worth the investment, and I would absolutely recommend them to other parents-to-be.
