Visited this restaurant - The food was okay, not the best mixed platter I’ve ever tasted, staff was friendly however they missed one main course order and a different order, returned for substitute as menu item was not available. - The road to this hotel restaurant was bad, riddled with pot holes… hard to believe it’s one of the fancier places…. - picturesque, but unless We hear of improvements, you can pass this with peace of mind

Country Lodge is a gorgeous hotel with a beautiful view and great facilities. We stayed there for 5 nights and loved our time there. The rooms were spacious and clean, although it could use some maintenance. I was pleasantly surprised to find bar soaps in the bathroom instead of shower gels. I definitely prefer them to reduce all the plastic bottles. There is lots of cupboard space, a TV and safety lockers in every room. I got a room with a small balcony overlooking Freetown and the Bay from where the sunsets were amazing! The property is quite spacious. The food was good, although on the expensive side. The brekafast buffet was fabulous. They have a nice pool, gym, tennis court, and multiple dining areas. Some of the gym equipment was a little old and rusty but was mostly usable. The WiFi was decent, and they had generators running immediately whenever there was a power outage. I also saw a deer wandering outside my room! The staff were quite friendly and helpful. They are mindful of conserving water and would always check whether the room had to be made. The check-in and check-out process was quite smooth. They accept international cards, although there is a 3% card use fee. It's definitely a good place if you are looking for a calm, peaceful and gorgeous place to stay in Freetown.

It’s an absolutely ridiculous hotel. I made my booking on their website and got an email confirming the booking however upto arrival after a 14 hour trip at 4am the staff couldn’t find the booking on the system and wasted 30 min trying to locate the booking and finally I told him just book a new room and give me we will sort it out tomorrow and then they tell me we are fully booked. The staff were not helpful at all to even find a room near by or help arrange a taxi. It is my first night in the city and at 4am you can imagine how stressful it must be. Specially after knowing no one or nothing and holding a paid reservation from the hotel directly not even a third party. The staff were more interested in watching their tv than helping out to arrange another room in a hotel or at the least get a taxi for me.

One of the best Hotels in Sierra Leone located at the Presidential lodge roundabout. They have pool and a nice top view. Met one Canadian staff there, great lady.

Great location with spectacular view. The breakfast buffet is amazing. The rooms have very comfortable beds. Hot showers, continuous power. I would definitely come again.

The location has a great city and ocean view, unfortunately the shower had no pressure and had some lizards inside the bathroom. We found some drinks inside the fridge thinking that they were a gift, fortunately my wife warned us about it being a potential trap therefore we just had one 500 ml water bottle that we were ask to pay for at the check out for the amount of Le 23 000 (<$5). Additionally, the were load doors banging right after I started to fall asleep and disturb my sleep and in the morning, there was a guy who was trying to open our door “by mistake” according to him.

It's status as Freetown's premier hotel is not an indicator of its current condition and service. A complete overhaul to modernise the hotel is required. It looks very shabby and may scrape 2 stars. Service is disorganised with differing level of hospitality. Witnessing one of the (middle eastern) managers telling off a native contractor was unsavoury to say the least. However it appears there are plans afoot to renovate the hotel let's hope its not as cosmetic as Radisson Blue hotel. It has outstanding bird's-eye view of the whole of freetown which gives this place a unique advantage.

Stayed here when it was a military barracks in 2001... amazing to see the transformation of this place... we even got the swimming pool back up and working whilst there...

It’s ok, but no 4 star , maybe 2. Poor breakfast, no service at the pool and the restaurant is limited on drinks.

The service was perfect . Every staff I met was kind and patient. The food was absolutely delicious with options for all. I can’t wait to visit Sierra Leone again so I can book with them again. They added an extra touch to my trip

I didn't like my room much, to be honest. But I am aware they have better and more modern rooms, which were fully booked at the time I checked in. Location and views are fab! Restaurant is fair but not great.

Wonderful staff & helpful, the food was diverse, a beautiful view of the ocean & we were able to relax when we were able to. There were some slight issues with receiving food (in a timely manner) BUT they were very short staffed & did a very great job! Some have talked about how terrible the road is but remember, it's on the side of a large hill/ mountain.

Beautiful and comfortable with friendly and professional staff. It's location at the top of the hill enables a steady flow of gentle breeze which can be enjoyed while sitting out on the verandas or any of the terraces.

The Country Lodge is a great place to stay in Freetown because of its location, cleanliness, swimming pools and an excellent restaurant with a good variety of foods. The greatest added value of the Country Lodge is the staff: everyone was always very kind with us and with our children, to ask us if everything was ok and to answer any requests we had. In particular, my thanks go to the restaurant staff and to Mrs. Fatimata from Reception, who were professional, friendly and efficient. We will be back very soon!

Nice location, great sea view, very friendly and polite staff, very good breakfast and gym facilities. Would have given 5 stars but the rooms was bit a let down, the furniture very outdated. A bit of refurbishment needed.

We spent a month to the Country Lodge Hotel in Freetown and we found a second house and a second family. The staff is friendly, efficient and very professional. The hotel is clean, the room comfortable and we ate great food in its beautiful restaurant. The landscape is fantastic. We recommend this wonderful hotel for your holidays. A special thanks goes to John (the owner) and a big hug to Alex, Olivia, Bubacar, Mohamed and all staff. We will never forget you. Thank you very much! Paolo and Chiara from Italy
