Had a lengthy stay here with a friend. Very safe and great location. Friendly staff served us quite well. Pluses include reliable electricity, decent WiFi, and quite good food at the restaurant-- not always a given in Africa. One of the two pools was available, as the other was being redone. Room was spartan but decent. Will stay there again.

This remains my favourite hotel in Freetown. The location, just off of Aberdeen (beach) road is fantastic. The restaurant has great food and the service is really friendly and helpful. Rooms are simple but with a bar, pool and air conditioning what more do you need.

Very safe and friendly place, staff is helpful and fast in resolving any issues. Internet connection is reliable and stable, ping and response from provider is long but it is normal since they use satellite for data. Cable TV works fine with plenty of channels available.

Nice place to lodge during your visit to Freetown, Sierra Leone. It has a nice beach view and all rooms have their own balconies.

I was in Freetown on a mission trip to the Sierra Leone Grammar School and partnering with the SLGS Old Boys Association. The Hotel Barmoi was recommended by a couple on my incoming flight. A gentleman in one of the banks at the airport knew of the hotel and also recommended it. He even called the hotel and they graciously assisted me with arrangements to safely arrive there at 3:30AM! Upon my very early in the morning arrival, I was greeted and well taken care of. The service during my stay was excellent. The entire staff was always extremely responsive to anything I needed: laundry, rides into town, breakfast there at the hotel (included in the stay) and dinner were taken care of. I am a British, West-Indian, American. So curry this and jerk that, plantain, rice and peas are all my favorites. One evening after finishing my work about town, I was deciding where to go for dinner. I’m glad I just returned to the secure grounds of the Barmoi and enjoyed my curry chicken prepared by their chef and enjoyed hearing the ocean’s crashing waves as I dined. My curry chicken at the Barmoi Restaurant was so good, I had to compliment the chef. I grew up eating my favored curry chicken with rice & peas cooked by my Trini mother. Now my Congolese wife prepares fantastic curry everything for me. I am a blessed man. However, on that Friday night, that 22 year-old chef out did them both!! Sorry mum and lovely wife! I didn’t tell either of them…yet. I may not—shhhh. To top off my stay, I had the pleasure of meeting the Barmoi owner. She graciously spent a few moments with me out of her busy schedule I will always remember. Ok, back to my air conditioned room with the ocean view to pack for the return trip to Arizona where we do not have a coastline and beautiful ocean. I will always remember the couple that referred me to the Hotel Barmoi and the airport banker who made it happen. I will definitely return! Blessings to the owner and her marvelous staff!

Can’t ask for a better location! Views out to the Atlantic Ocean are amazing! The staff are also worth giving 5 stars to. The security guard who greeted me as I came in, the check in desk that permitted me to check in a little bit earlier, the porter who took me to my room and carried my (heavy) backpack - all these people are a major reason for the top rating. Finally, the room. Such a comfy bed well presented in a decent sized room. Having space for me to open my luggage is something I’ve missed recently in some accommodation through West Africa but it’s nice to have these small things that make it easier to live out of a backpack. The bathroom is almost as big as the room and similar to the bed, well presented and clean. Thanks for a great stay in Freetown’s best hotel with the best staff!

Very bad way of dealing with guests. Food is really bad. Nothing to eat there Had one of the worst experience in my life.Staff are terrible especially the general manager. There is no such things in this hotel to say as good. It is a mess in the middle of a messy location. We will never ever going to visit this hotel again. This hotel is one of the worst hotels in freetown.

Seaside view. However the rooms need complete overhauling. They look like something straight out of the nineties. Workers are generally nice and helpful.

Certainly not a 4 star hotel, it is on a slow but steady decline. Still like the place for its family atmosphere and great staff. Food also ver good But competition is plenty in Freetown now, someone has to up their game.

Beautiful sea view and scenery by the restaurant and the Aberdeen region of Freetown; it was an enjoyable stay.🌴🌊😍 On the other hand, the reception staff can put more effort in being more joyous and enthusiastic within their customer service when welcoming guests. As a British Sierra Leonean, I didn't feel entirely engaged with the interaction of the native staff yet it felt more transactional. I hope Hotel Barmoi's management is reading this review as there's promising potential into Sierra Leone's hospitality industry. I felt taken for granted compared to how a non- Sierra Leonean will be treated, however; I remain patriotic about my motherland. Moreover, the Wi-Fi signal can be improved as it wasn't as strong on my devices.

Lovely ocean views from some rooms. Good breakfast but service slow. Nice swiming pools. Attentive friendly front desk staff.

This is our go to place in Freetown. The staff is exceptional. The rooms are older but always clean. Any issues we've had the staff has quickly addressed. Highly recommend Hotel Barmoi.

I booked this hotel for a couple days. It was way to expensive for the price you pay for. When it rained the ceiling was leaking, My bed was so wet that I couldn’t even have good night slept. I addressed it the next day to the staff. They didn’t even offer me a different room nor did they fix the leaking problem. The outlets in the room also didn’t work. I didn’t even offer to reimburse me for the night or give me one night for free. I would not recommend to stay here. I would recommend to stay at a different hotel. Cheaper prices or nicer units.
