If you can go to another hospital please do! The nursing staff is lazy, and have bad attitudes unbelievable to pay nurses to sit all day and use their cell phones! Had to call the patient advocate just to get help! 5+hrs and still waiting!!

Don’t ever go to Bennington Er if you are at Stratton. My son fell snowboarding fractured his femur, Stratton sent my son to Bennington where they did a x ray and we were told he didn’t need surgery. They wrapped his leg and said to go see an orthopedic in 5-10 day and they will cast it. They sent us home with 2 pain pills. Three days later my son was still in pain and had not moved from the bed. We had to call an ambulance to give him pain medicine to take him the Rutland er, where we were told he needed surgery right away. We lived through 3 days of hell with my son who was in such pain. Every doctor that has looked at his X-ray can’t believe that they would send someone home with a fractured femur.

Hands-down the worst, most unhelpful ER experience I’ve ever had. It’s totally worth the drive to a different hospital, if it’s not a dire emergency.

I turned down employment at this institution as an RN in Vermont..They were offering me $12.00 less per Hour that turns out to be $1728.00 less / month that’s Rent money . Vermont has better paying RN position’s.. I just had to find a Vermont Nurses Union . Such a shame they low Ball professionals.

A few days ago I had the unfortunate privilege of getting my first kidney stone. I'm one who avoids the doctor's at all costs... unless it's a true emergency. Long story short, I took a trip to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and wow.. I couldn't have asked for a more caring, patient staff. They did everything in their power to make sure I was comfortable. I ended up having to stay over night and once they were able to get some of my pain under control, I was able to feel comfortable for a bit and rest! They listened, explained everything so I could fully understand, and they genuinely seemed like they actually cared and took pride in their job! I don't usually leave reviews, I'm just beyond thankful of all the staff that had helped me that night. Thank you all so much.

I’m sharing my experience briefly because it was such a great experience having a total knee replacement done at this facility by Dr. Nofzinger. Before I went to see Dr. Nofzinger I saw a doctor at Ortho NY (I live in NY state) decided with that initial visit there was no way I would have them do my knee 😬. My Mom had surgery at South West Vermont Medical and was thrilled with her care. I was working in healthcare at the time and received 2 recommendations from my primary doctor and a coworker @Dr. Nofzinger. So happy with SWVMC and Dr. Nofzinger. Totally positive experience with nothing negative to say with all who were involved in my care.

Hospital administration needs to glove up and help in the ER to see how much they are crippling their staff and effecting the community. ER need another 1-2 doctor's during the day and early evening to curve dangerous wait times. And prevent EMS from having to leave patients in the waiting room ER staff is great but overwhelmed

Well, I’ve been in the waiting room for 150 minutes so far and haven’t been invited into the back area yet. Nope, it’s not crowded; they just keep selecting everyone ahead of me even if they just walked in. You see the problem is that I was here twice in the last week. Same problem that I received 3 different opinions on what was causing my pain from 3 different doctors. They can’t figure out what it is, so they would rather not deal with me. Perhaps it would take more testing, specialists perhaps, a stay in the hospital might give them an opportunity to dig in and find the cause of my pain. But nope, they have decided to just not see me, to let me sit in the waiting room until I just go home. And yes, I do have insurance. And please don’t refer me to your agent, I forget their title.

Total Knee Replacement @ Southwest Vermont Medical Center- AMAZINGLY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE….AND THIS MY THIRD KNEE REPLACEMENT… Lured to SVMC as their surgeons/Dr. Nofziger do the latest less invasive procedure so much less invasive it can be done outpatient- I walked in 6am and in the car headed home 3pm. I have been thru the Albany NY Medical Assembly Line experience TWICE on the same knee. Knee is painful to this day.. ( Dr. Nofziger has agreed to look into the Albany mess right knee once the left knee he did for me is in my rear view mirror/healed) A NY Orthopedic Center did my right knee and then a “Revision “ which is basically doing it a second time.. Knee painful to this day.. Sooo having relayed having previous experience with Albany knee implants fast forward to Dr. Nofzigers knee..- Pain far less than previous knee implants.. Recovery time FAR LESS than previous implants.. This supplemented by professional opinion- My Physical Therapy ( not use to seeing patients with surgery done out of area ) is amazed when comparing surgery date to current status. I was initially scheduled for 6 PT appointments @ twice a week then schedule more.. PT now fairly confident I will not need all of the initial 6 appointments… With the 2 knee replacements done in NY I was in Physical Therapy for months.. This entire experience from meeting Dr. Nofziger and his staff to the totally positive 8 hours spent in the Hospital to follow post surgery calls at home from Nofziger’s staff or South Western Vermont Medical Center daily for the first week…amazing.. I have never heard anyone say they got post surgery check up calls from Albany…

Years ago a relative was brought here with a heart attack. They were kept there for hours with no cardiologist because “it’s a holiday and he won’t come in.” My relative decompensated and was airlifted to Albany. They didn’t survive. Albany doctor said had they gotten there 5 minutes sooner they would not have passed away. Thanks for keeping my relative in Bennington for 4+ hours doing nothing with no cardiologist SVMC. My experiences have not been any better. I had a specialist throw papers at me and tell me there was nothing I could do about my symptoms. The specialist was totally unhinged and was in clear need of psychiatric care himself. I also had the infusion center at SVMC refuse an infusion order from a Dartmouth hematologist. My hematologist said he has never in many years of practicing had any issues with his orders not being accepted by another hospital. It was absurd that I had to drive to NH for basic infusions. There is no coordination of care despite Dartmouth slapping their name on this subpar 1 star hospital. I would not trust them for an emergency or even basic routine care.

This review is for the amazing, sweet, an very helpful driver of the shuttle bus named Dolly. She was so kind to my son and I a couple weeks ago when my mother had been admitted. Sometimes doing something small to help someone having a stressful or bad day can make a world of difference and she helped me in that way. I wish more people were as wonderful as her. I hope SVMC appreciates what a amazing person she is and a asset to have working there.

This definitely is not how I wanted to end my 12 day New England trip... but everyone here is SO nice! Everyone is accommodating and approachable. There's people to help with every aspect of your visit. To getting out of the car to finding the correct area to getting back out again. Vermont definitely has great hospitals and staff. **permission granted to take photo of staff**

This emergency room is a joke. I got here at 12:00 and I’m still waiting to be seen. It’s now almost 3:00. Came in with uncontrollable shaking and feeling like I was gonna pass out. When I got here some people have been waiting for 6 hours! Do better
