The homey and natural scenery does not make up for the attitude of the staff. The presentation and variety of food is uninteresting and bland. Either the staff are semi-friendly and bland or full-blown sassy and snobbish. I felt a sense of homogeneity in the category of guests and was even asked “why are you here?” by another guest. Upon check-in, I was assumed to be a representative of “Mr. van Clief” instead of myself; Nathan van Clief, which I found quite amusing and offensive. The room is comfortable and cozy but it is very far and it took at least 20 minutes to commute there from the lobby which is in the same building.

Amazing experience and stay at the Genusshotel Gmachl! The rooftop is a adults only area with an infinity pool including a stunning view of the Salzburg fortress in the distance. It got everything you wish for: Steam bath, various saunas, salt bath and different indoor and outdoor pools. The design of the hotel is modern with a lot of wooden parts, I can imagine that a lot of planning went into it because it ended up to be perfect in my opinion. The price is justified and totally worth every cent. The hotel got it's own brewery, butcher and different restaurants. They even got a shop where you can buy products of the region. Salzburg downtown is very easy and fast to reach from the hotel. Staff is very friendly and attentive. We will be back (soon!).

Fantastic, very cozy hotel and spa. Loved the atmosphere, breakfast was probably the best buffet breakfast I've ever had in a hotel, dinner was very, very tasty as well. Variety of saunas, indoor and outdoor pools. I'd recommend for a romantic getaway at any time of the year

Our stay here was amazing! Even for someone who doesn’t speak German,the staff did speak English and made us feel very welcome. I hope to be back here again :)

Cute contemporary hotel with lovely big garden which makes for a serene tranquil environment. Nice big contemporary rooms and nice spa, especially the adults only rooftop spa, it's very contemporary and has extended views from everywhere within. Very frugal though as there's no lotions or scrubs in the spa like other world best alpine spas have, tiniest bottle of a single body lotion in room, no hair conditioner & no block out curtains which is especially essential in the summer as days are so long, if 1 wants to sleep by 9pm, sun is still up so room is so bright. It's not in the league of other Best Alpine spas such as Wellness Residenz AlpenRose in both amenities and service😕.

Absolutely amazing place for relax. We spent here from Thursday to Sunday in this amazing place full of saunas, pools and greenery with a view of Salzburg and mountains. The surprise was that we even had the sauna to ourselves. People were s spread out in the area, but it is true that we were here the last few days in July. Even in beautiful weather, you can spend the day on deckchairs/beds by pools or lakes. The train stop is at the hotel, you can get to the center of Salzburg in 10 minutes. A big advantage of the hotel is breakfast, an afternoon snack and a 5-course dinner.

One of those hotels that in the moment you checked out, you're already starting to plan your next vacation there.

Very nice and relaxing spa. The red light sauna chair was automatic when you sat in it. The views are nice in the other areas.

Wellnesshotel was seines Gleichen sucht. Einfach unbeschreiblich toll. Vom Ambiente über den Service zum Essen ...alles top. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der Wellnessbereich innen und aussen... selten so ausgefallene und hochwertige Details so geschmackvoll präsentiert. Der nächste Aufenthalt ist schon gebucht.

Mein absolutes Lieblingshotel, wo einfach alles passt. Von der Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter über das erstklassige Service, die tolle Lage, den einzigartiger Wellnessbereich, großzügige geschmackvolle Zimmer bis zum hervorragenden Essen! Wir kommen immer wieder gerne an diesen herrlichen Ort!

Ankommen und einfach nur wohlfühlen Ein herzlicher Empfang, da wir viel zu früh waren haben wir uns Fahrräder ausgeliehen und sind nach Salzburg und man hat sich um uns bemüht und gekümmert. Das Zimmer großzügig sauber schön und mit schönem Blick in die Berge. SPA Bereich vielleicht ein bisschen weitläufig aber somit bewegt man sich ein bisschen. Jeder Bereich stilvoll mit viel Geschmack und liebevoll hergerichtet und dekoriert, hochwertige Materialien. Viele kleine Oasen zum wohlfühlen. Essen egal ob Frühstück Hause oder Abendessen einfach nur gut und der Service ist professionell aber auch mit viel Herz, günstig ist es nicht, aber das weiß man im Vorfeld, Preis Leistung stimmt jedoch, absolut zu empfehlen und gerne komme ich wieder

Eines der besten Wellnesshotels, die ich bisher besucht habe. Das Spa Angebot ist so umfangreich, entspannend und erholsam, dass man in diesem Hotel auch mehrere Tage hineinander nur im Spa verbringen kann. Die Auswahl an Pools und Saunen ist sehr groß und alles ist in einem sehr guten Zustand. Das Essen ist immer ein Genuss und der Service wirklich gut, das Personal ist immer freundlich und hilfsbereit und man fühlt sich hier rund um gut versorgt. Ich war bereits das zweite Mal hier und es wird nicht das letzte Mal gewesen sein. Danke für eine sehr angenehme Auszeit.

Absolutes Lieblingshotel! Hier beginnt der Urlaub mit dem Betreten des Hotels. Sehr schönes, modernes und gemütliches Design. Toller Wellnessbereich und ausgezeichnetes Essen. Das Personal ist wahnsinnig freundlich und zuvorkommend. Insgesamt lässt das Hotel einfach keine Wünsche offen. Wir waren nun zum sechsten Mal hier und freuen uns bereits auf unseren nächsten Aufenthalt.

Haben hier unseren Babymoon verbracht, sehr tolles Hotel mit abwechslungsreichem Thermenangebot. Sehr leckeres kulinarisches Angebot. Alle im Hotel versuchen den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu machen und sind sehr bemüht auch Extras rasch zu erfüllen. Danke für die schöne Zeit.

Wer sich erholen möchte, tolle Saunen und wunderschöne Ruhebereiche mag, gutes Essen liebt und es sich generell gerne gut gehen lassen möchte, ist hier bestens aufgehoben. Hier legen auch die Inhaber selbst noch Hand an. Das Personal ist super herzlich und mir als Berlinerin ist besonders diese wunderbare Luftqualität aufgefallen. Ich komme bestimmt mal wieder. Herzlichen Dank für alles und einer neuen Bekanntschaft.

If you have a small child/baby, it cost 98 EURO EXTRA per night, even if the baby sleeps in parent's bed. That is unbelievably discriminatory pricing that I haven't seen anywhere else. This must be the most family unfriendly hotel yet marketed as a family run establishment. The irony! They can simply make it adult only and not take booking from families.

One of the best wellness hotels in Austria. Very cozy, but also very stylish and modern, with an incredible fitness area. Very healthy and delicious food offerings every day. The Gmachl team is fantastic and knows exactly how to make the guest happy. The location is so lovely….. top rated from my side

Excellent hotel in all forms! Spa - Excellent Staff - Super friendly and attentive Rooms - Beautiful Food - Very good Have been here several times and each time the hotel has something new to offer. It's a wonderful hotel for a relaxed weekend but also close enough to Salzburg if you want to have a city trip. Can only recommend!

I have been there about 18 years ago the last time I remember. I knew Gmachl as an excellent place to eat and always loved to buy meat at the adjacent butcher shop. This place has developed in one of a kind Salzburg dream resort with a homely atmosphere. I was just there to visit a friend, but we will be back to stay there next year. Well done Gmachl family! Awesome!

Can I move here forever? In love with this place. The new area is a dream. My favorite is the new Grüne Insel (45C gorgeous room that will make you feel like you are in the middle of nature). Owners are always checking around if you are having a good experience, which is really valuable. Thanks!

A lovely mountain chic hotel with a nice staff, a cosy spa and outdoor pool and big sauna area for relaxation. Very relaxing place to stay with a variety of outdoor activities. The only thing: i forgot my toothbrush and had to pay for toothbrush and toothpaste 5 euro. Really? in such a hotel?!? Never ever happened to me before and i am traveling a lot. It’s not about the price, it’s about costumer relationship.

We have been in many, many hotels and spas around the world in the last years - but the Gmachl is one of a kind. We were staying in a suite and were just wowed in every way. From the super friendly staff, the amazing room, the amazingly beautiful spa area and the delicious food. There is nothing we could even think of making better. Thanks to the Gmachl for the amazing time!
