The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial is a monument under construction dedicated to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj , the 17th century Indian warrior king and founder of the Maratha Empire. The statue will be located in the Arabian Sea, near the coast of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Memorial construction is expected to be completed by October 2022.

Beautiful and impressive statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Sculpted beautifully and Installed in 1961. Beautiful greenery around. It is near and facing towards the Gateway of India and Arabian Sea. Nearby railway stations Churchgate station (western railway) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (central railway)… A major tourist attraction of Mumbai.

Great statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj 🚩🚩. It is just front of The Gate Way of India. If you visit The Gate Way of India you will find this statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj right in front of it. This is one of the crowded tourist spot in Mumbai. You can visit this place at daylight as well as night also.

As Gateway of India is the main tourist spot, this place is overlooked. This garden which is located exactly opposite to Gateway of India gives a soothing shade to the onlookers. This statue speaks of the valour of Maharashtra’s Swaraj founder Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. You can enjoy a quite time looking at Gateway of India by sitting here. N no of food stalls are nearby.

The Gateway of India is an arch monument built during the 20th century in Mumbai, India.[2] The monument was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunder on their visit to India in 1911. Built in Indo-Saracenic style, the foundation stone for the Gateway of India was laid on 31 March 1911. The structure is an arch made of basalt, 26 metres (85 feet) high. The final design of George Wittet was sanctioned in 1914 and the construction of the monument was completed in 1924. The Gateway was later used as a symbolic ceremonial entrance to India for Viceroys and the new Governors of Bombay.[3] It served to allow entry and access to India.[4] The Gateway of India is located on the waterfront at Apollo Bunder area at the end of Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj Marg in South Mumbai and overlooks the Arabian Sea.[5][6][7] The monument has also been referred to as the Taj Mahal of Mumbai,[8] and is the city's top tourist attraction.[9]

‘Statue of Shivaji Maharaj’ is located just opposite the world famous Gateway of India in Mumbai. This monument stands in tribute to the great Maratha emperor and warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who laid the foundation of the Maratha Empire that rule much of modern day India until it’s final conquest by the British. The monument is an equestrian statue and depicts Shivaji Maharaj as a warrior armed with a round shield and sword. The monument stands in its own and is well maintained in small garden faces the Arabian Sea and its iconic neighbor the Gateway to India. This area is generally crowded and you will find people busy clicking photos and selfis all-around.

Shivaji Bhonsale I 19 February 1630 – 3 April 1680, also referred to as Chhatrapati Shivaji, was an Indian ruler and a member of the Bhonsle Maratha clan. Shivaji carved out an enclave from the declining Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur that formed the genesis of the Maratha Empire. In 1674, he was formally crowned the Chhatrapati (emperor) of his realm at Raigad.

I was truly impressed by the stunning statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at this location. The intricate sculpting and its installation in 1961 showcase the dedication to preserving history. The lush green surroundings add to the charm, and its strategic placement facing the Gateway of India and the Arabian Sea is captivating. it's a attraction and a testament to Mumbai's rich heritage.
