One of the most beautiful churches in Bombay! Constructed in 1767, this church has been maintained so well that it still draws the attention and awe today. The Frescos here are very very unique, you do not find a lot of churches in India with Frescos and hence it was a special treat. It’s right there in the centre of Colaba walking distance from the Colaba market and cafe Mondegar. This is a Catholic Church and is right next to the convent. Must must visit cathedral in Bombay

Beautiful church. Very good service. Attended a mass while I was visiting Mumbai. Great place to go to collect one's thoughts in silence or pray. Will definitely attend another mass when in Bombay next time.

It is one of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever seen in India. The ambiance of this place is holy. It is a very well maintained cathedral with respect to its age and the locality is also quite. It is advisable to visit this place in the evening during Christmas time as it is decorated which enhances its beauty to the next level.

The gothic style cathedral is the mother church of the archdiocese of Bombay. The masses for Christmas and Easter draw large crowds and people of different faiths also attend these services. People also enjoy listening to the fervent vibrant singing of the Holy Name parish choir. Right now the cathedral is under repairs and renovation but is still open for various religious services

Title: A Spiritual Oasis in the Heart of Mumbai Rating: ★★★★★ The Holy Name Cathedral in Colaba, Mumbai, is nothing short of a spiritual haven amidst the bustling city. It's not just a place of worship; it's a sanctuary of peace, serenity, and awe-inspiring beauty. As you approach the cathedral, the grandeur of its Neo-Gothic architecture takes your breath away. The intricate stonework, towering spires, and beautiful stained glass windows are a testament to the architectural marvels of its time. It's impossible not to be captivated by the sheer majesty of this cathedral. Stepping inside, you are immediately struck by the sense of tranquility. The dimly lit interior, the hushed whispers of prayer, and the enchanting aroma of incense create an atmosphere of devotion and introspection. The cavernous space and the ornate decorations make you feel like you've been transported to a different era. The highlight of the cathedral is undoubtedly the stunning stained glass windows. They bathe the interior in a myriad of colours when the sun shines through, casting an ethereal glow that fills your heart with a sense of the divine. The attention to detail in these windows is truly remarkable, telling biblical stories in a way that feels both artistic and deeply spiritual. The Holy Name Cathedral also hosts regular mass services, and attending one is a moving experience. The choir's harmonious voices and the priest's words resonate through the cathedral, and even if you're not particularly religious, the atmosphere is sure to touch your soul. For those who work in the area, the cathedral offers a special afternoon daily mass from Monday to Saturday, running from 1:15 pm to 1:50 pm. It's a welcome respite from the demands of the workday and a chance to find solace in the heart of the city. One more remarkable aspect of Holy Name Cathedral is its role as the Headquarters of the Archbishop of Bombay, currently led by Cardinal Oswald Gracias. This historic institution is not only a place of worship but also a Centre of Spiritual Leadership for the region. The Cathedral's location in Colaba adds to its charm. It's nestled amidst the charming old buildings and narrow lanes of South Mumbai, making it a perfect spot for reflection after exploring the city's bustling streets, shops, and markets. In conclusion, the Holy Name Cathedral is a must-visit for anyone in Mumbai, whether you're a person of faith or simply appreciate art, history, and a place of quiet contemplation. It's a testament to the rich history and spiritual heritage of Mumbai and offers a glimpse into the city's soul that's not to be missed. A visit to this cathedral is an experience that will leave you with a lasting impression of peace, beauty, and the enduring power of faith. ________________________________________

The Cathedral of the Holy Name or Holy Name Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay), that has the seat and is the headquarters of the Archbishop of Bombay.[1][2] The cathedral is located in the Colaba area of South Bombay, built in the Gothic Revival style that was favoured by British architects. One of the most beautiful Church in Mumbai not only from the outside but even better from the inside. A must visit place if you are in Mumbai not just for Christians but a outstanding masterpiece even for people of other faith.

We visited for a service on Saturday. The place is really very peaceful. Great choir and one of the few places that still has an old organ used to play with the choir.

A hidden gem of south Mumbai. To start with, one should plan to visit this historic cathedral on a Sunday, when South Mumbai is relatively less crowded. For those visiting by cars there is parking on Main Street. Mass service times and the details of the church I leave it to the official websites.

Used to attend mass there on sunday evenings. I reside in Navi Mumbai but prefered to visit this place atleast once or twice a month. The interior of the church and the mass conducted there felt quite different and satifying. One the best Church's to visit.
