This is the Only Zoo in Mumbai since 1861, also called ‘Jijamata Udyan’, ‘Byculla Zoo’, ‘Rani Baug’, ‘Victoria Garden’ in British era and Officially named ‘Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan’ now. It has varied flora & fauna with about 853 Species of plants, 3000 plus trees, Wild Animals, Birds and the only ‘heritage’ botanical garden of city, spread over 53 acres of land. Opens at 9:00 AM and Closes at 5:00 PM. Tickets are very reasonable Rs.25(Children) & Rs.50 (Adults). For photo camera it is Rs. 100 and video camera it is Rs.300. Special discounts given for school picnic groups. You fill find Elephant, Bear, Tiger, Fox, Leopard, Hippopotamus, Sambar, Spotted Dear, Hyenas, Penguins, Turtles and Few Aquatic Birds. In my recent visit, 3-4 cages were empty and many things are work in progress. They say there are coming up with a lion, crocodile and snakes after some time. Overall it was a good experience.

A very lively place with children and families all around. Children playing in swings and their guardians looking after them. Go see the zoo then come here to take some breather then go back to zoo. Overall it is a good place to relax but not for those who like peaceful environment. For those i would recommend going to some other nearby garden as there are lots of small garden like places with grass and beautifull tree plantations.

Its good place for any age group and there is lots of fun and enjoyment there is also have musium it's tell about our history and culture and in Rani Baug penguin have arrived and lots of animals available here for curiosity like more than one fifty year old tortoise and cobra snake, unique type of birds, hippopotamus, fox, wolf, elephant but there is no lion or tiger this point is disappointing and the entry fee is too high for me u can't bring water bottle or chips or any food if you want you have to purchase from there prospective at high price and cheep food it is very disappointing

The Mumbai Zoo, formerly known as the Victoria Gardens, now called the Veermata Jijabhai Udyaan, There seems to be a lot of space for new animals, but no new animals seem to be there yet. But kids can enjoy their, they have made play garden inside. and also good place for relaxing, natural air. Do visit

It is a good zoo to come with family and/or friends. Zoo timings are 9.30am to 6pm and the guards don't allow you even a minute before 9.30am. Ticket prices are Rs 50 for adults, Rs 25 for children, and Rs 100 for DSLR. They don't allow food and water bottles inside. They will confiscate them but you can collect them when you exit. There is a cafe inside for refreshments. It was heart breaking to see the animals especially the birds in cages. The parrots and storks were screaming and biting their cages. The deer and hippos I guess had less space. The zoo is undergoing renovation so maybe later the animals may get more space. Photography and videography is prohibited in the penguin area.

Nice place to go out with family for day out. There are also cafes available inside this place. The one which is outside isnt that good but the one next to penguine town is really great. Many options avilable to eat from chinese to south indian, pizzas, pastas, deserts like 99 pan cakes, ice creams were also availble. Overall nice place.

Must visit for Tiger and Penguin. There is a glass at Tiger view so you can see Tiger very closely which is nice experience. Nicely maintained garden. Lot of variety of birtds are there. You can see them closely. No crocodiles as construction activity is going on for the same.

Nice place. Penguins are cute but you hardly get 1 minute inside to watch them. Rest of the garden is well maintained. They are renovating it. The food court is really good. Food taste is awsme there. And reasonably priced. Best place for kids.
