First time dining here for dinner. The food is fantastic! The flavors are amazing and the service is professional. Took a while for the food to be served as I think they might have been short staffed. It must be a popular restaurant because it was very busy. I love the chips and salsa. Many places don’t get this right. However, Sal’s chips and salsa has what you would expect good chips and salsa to taste like. I ordered the carnitas plate. It was served with beans and rice, delicious avocado 🥑 dip, and your choice of corn or flour tortillas.

So I've decided to up date my review from a 3 to a 4 star. I usually just order take out because this place is just right across the street from my house. But tonight we decided to go in and have dinner. I was honestly a little put off by the ambiance I feel like it's a little minimum for a place that's been around since 1942 or what ever the signed outside said but the food is pretty good. I had the chili riano and enchilana plate and it was pretty good but just a heads up they make there chili rianos with bell pepper, it was still pretty good. My son had the kids bean and cheese burrito and my wife got tacos. A pretty basic meal but everyone liked there food :) service was great and parking was good to. I'd proably still give this place 4 stars even if they stepped up there decor lol.

Sal's is still my favorite place to get ground beef enchiladas. I did a to go order and was concerned when I opened my container that it wouldn't have flavor. At my first bite I was reminded that Sals packs the flavor. Their guacamole and chips are just okay. They make homemade chips which are good and sell it in a half pot or full pint. My dish of choice is their ground beef enchiladas combo add sour cream.

Very good Authentic Mexican Food. Very fresh, and the servers are very friendly (Diego & Adali ), attentive, and helpful. Very clean. The food is delicious and served in a big portion. Unlimited nachos and salsa. Overall is a 5-star. First time here!

Great food. Don't come here often as I normally go to the Selma location when I am able. But my parents live nearb. Food was great and service staff was friendly and tentative.

Great to have a slice of history here in North Fresno. We have been enjoying Sal's great food for over 35 yrs. From the original Selma restaurant to here in Fresno the food is amazing. The recipes and great portions are all like home. We truly appreciate the many years of service and great food.

We had a great experience here!! I came with my father and sister after a 4 day backpacking trip in Yosemite. This was our first “real” meal and it hit so hard. The service was great. Our waitress was super sweet and the staff was really attentive. My only complaint is that they don’t have one where I live.

Service good, food good. They have a rude sign at the entrance that basically says eat and get out. That turned us off so much that we felt unwelcomed. I express my dislike with the hostess she kept saying it's protocol. I informed manager and he said he would pass it on, but... He just tried to justify it. Sal's used to be a premier restaurant. No more! Sal's you need to value the customer more. Without us customers you have nothing. Step it up!

We went on a Friday night, height of their dinner rush. They told us 20 minutes, it was actually less than that. Our busboy? was sweating from working his tush off, server was apologetic for the wait (what wait?) and the food was on point as usual. On a side note...this restaurant holds a special place in my heart. My first time meeting my now-husband, we ate lunch here after a meet and greet at Starbucks. 10 years later we are still madly in love. ❤❤

Good, old-school Mexican food. Our bar tender was friendly, and several other wait staff checked on us throughout our meal. To us, the servings were massive. We couldn't finish our meals. House margaritas were fairly standard. It was packed when we were their for lunch, but we sat immediately at the bar.

This place never disappoints! I was sceptical about getting take-out. It's usually never as good as setting down to fresh Mexican food. But they packaged everything really well and separated the tacos so they would get soggy. There's a reason why this place is always packed! They do everything really well.

Hands down, absolutely fantastic! The food is authentic and mouth watering. You get a lot of food for so little price. High quality delicious food and friendly staff. The margaritas are amazing as well!! Quality and quantity.

I am a creature of habit, and my habit at Sal's is the Fancy Burrito with Chile Verde. Complete and total comfort food, tastes just like my Abuela made. Fantastic chips and salsa too. I get to try other things because my family shares :), and everything is excellent, but I always order my usual at the end of the day. I also love both the chicken enchilada and the fancy burrito casseroles that you can order for pick up.

Great Mexican food, huge portions, salsa & chips addicting, best service. Celeste is wonderful! You can always count on a good authentic Mexican food here and consistently great service. Try it once and you'll be regulars after that!

I ordered the cocido soup (beef soup), and the broth was extremely watery, almost no flavor, to me it seems they just added water to the soup and called it a day. Maybe the other dishes are better but that was my personal experience.

They were super busy! Of course that's a good sign means food is delicious! Everyone was amazing, super nice and friendly. We waited about 15 mins to get our table. Chips & Salsa was amazing!! Kids enjoyed them as well!! We got varieties of things burritos to tacos to enchiladas! All so delicious! Andres our waiter, he's super kind always checking in on us making sure we were doing good!

Service was great, but we didn’t like the food. The portions were big, but just to cover the lack of authentic mexican flavour…. So if you are looking for filling portions, you should come here, but if you want a great lunch/ dinner experience, you better go to another place.
