Sushi sushi sushi! The R&B roll is so good! So many colors, and very beautiful place, coupled with relaxing music. Very friendly cast, and the Tepanyaki is very popular here! I come back here so much oh gosh.

Filet Mignon with Calamari and all the fixings. Teppanyaki cooking is always the best here. You got to have the hot and spicy sauce so delicious. Manager made us feel welcome for my father-in-law's Father's Day, for me and my brother's birthdays. Look at the pictures and you'll see the fine wine. This is one place you don't want to miss.

Came in for regular dinning with no reservation on a Saturday and was seated within 10 mins. Service was adequate and the food was great. Ordered the bacon fried rice which was just as delicious as you would get from the teppanyaki grill. Sushi was fresh and meat cooked well. This place is consistently good and never disappoints.

Custom ordered the Krispy Rice Spicy Tuna and it was fantastic!! 🤤 Also got the regular spicy tuna, miso soup, and hot tea. Service was phenomenal! My tea cup 🍵 was always kept full and the chefs were so nice!

Had a gift certificate so we came regardless of the bad reviews. Our experience was great and didn’t have anything go wrong. Teriyaki chicken and shrimp is bomb. Fried rice was amazing. Loved the tapinyaki experience

Had a GREAT first visit on Sunday, 02/25/24. The restaurant was so busy. It took about 1 hour of us sitting at the teppanyaki table until our cooking man came out. After that, he was definitely trying to make up time and hurry, but it was still very good and fun! 1 problem was he needed the Rice Bowls to serve us, and the waitresses were just ignoring him!? 😵 So he had to leave the rice and get the bowls himself, and I was worried about the rice, but it wasn't even over cooked he was amazing!!! Very rude of the waitresses tho, they also never gave anyone at our table refills, and the other family that sat with us was very upset about that. But I had a great experience still, thank you yo our cook, who I can't remember his name but I know he used to live in the Marina District on SF! He was aware that it was my first time and definitely made it amazing, so if you're reading this, THANK YOU! I will be back, however, probably on a weekday because that was crazy!!! 😅

First time going to this place up in Fresno and it's a very pleasant experience. Love the food. Service is top notch and we didn't have to wait long to be seated. Will come again soon.

Great food!! Almost always have to make a reservation for teppanyaki, but good portions and always delicious. Lobster and seafood dynamite appetizer is to die for!! Lunch bento plates are a good deal and they have a good selection of fresh sushi and rolls.. On the expensive side but worth it :)

This is one of the better Japanese restaurants in the Central Valley. The waiters are friendly. The food is excellent. As a vegetarian it was nice to find vegan options.. the Japanese mushroom was very good. The proverbial vegetable tempura was comparable to other restaurants. The vegetable fried rice definitely was better than other Japanese restaurants in the valley.

Teppanaki is my favorite. Had the all shrimp dinner, never disappoints. I recommend the cold fuji apple sake, the hot sake was not really my thing.

The food was not seasoned, and the portions were very small compared to competitors. Our server was nice but forgot a few items. She corrected it right away, so no harm, no foul. Overall, the experience was just okay.

It was pretty open on a Monday evening, but be prepared to wait for at least another 30 minute after you are seated at the table. A common complaint I have here is how many people they squeeze together on a table, even if they don’t have a full table. They have a good sushi menu available as well, we ordered a roll that was unfortunately forgotten. The chef was awesome, but the length they cook and do different things has definitely been greatly shortened compared to what it use to be. I was also sadly disappointed in the amount of food everyone was given even with only 6 adults at the table. The food was a bit under par with how it usually is here but the service was about average for I’ve come to expect. Overall I will be back, but there are definitely other options available that I’ll be trying.

I expected more from a place with lots of great reviews. My friends and I were disappointed. For a Saturday lunch, service was extremely slow. It took about 15 minutes to get drinks, another 15 minutes for appetizers, another 15 minutes for half our table's food, then another 15 minutes for the rest of our table's food. It would've been nice for all of us to get our food at the same time so we could eat together. The waitress was nice, but inattentive. Left full, but unsatisfied.

I had a great time. If you haven't been to Sakura Chaya maybe you should. This is a good place for family, first date, or if you are interested in having your food prepared right in front of you then this is the spot

Better options in Fresno for Japanese cuisine. Sakura Chaya has been a staple in the area for a long time and when it opened it was one of the top two Japanese restaurants around. Now it's a top ten restaurant still, but with the prices of the top tier restaurant. They have not kept up with the evolving industry and there are quite a few better alternatives out there now. The ingredients are not as fresh and do not have the quality to justify the prices, when the competition produces a better experience, for less. If you are looking for casual dining then this is will be an okay choice, but please know there other options to consider.

Wonderful place to eat but not enough space. We honestly felt like we were sitting on top of one another. Our party had 5 another party had 5 we all sat in area where there should have only been 8 and that was pushing it. Nonetheless, the food is always great. I ordered the lunch special and the Yo mama roll!

We went here on April 1st,right when they opened and I got the lunch special,a drink and 2 sushi rolls. The guy who was cooking was super rude to me when I asked for an extra bowl of fried rice, because I had already paid for 1 extra, but I wanted to pay for another one as well,But he was like "ask your server" and rolled his eyes, even tho he could've made an extra one and just told the server to charge me...plus my server was no where to be found the whole meal after our cook started cooking...so I couldn't even order extra if I wanted to! And then, when the steak came around, he gave me the tiniest amount of steak bits and gave the white guy next to us a bunch of bigger pieces...and the sushi rolls I ordered at the beginning of my meal didn't get to me until everyone was done eating and we were about to pay. Food was outstanding, but Very mediocre service. Won't be going back there again.

Here's my picture of my place look at the lobster and you tell me. And I've been to places where the lobster is cut and I pull it out of the shell. It honestly looks like someone already tasted it for me.the food imust be ok to who ever ate my food before I received it.

First time trying out Sakura Chaya. Got the steak tapenyaki with fried rice. Gotta tell you, it was great. Chef was friendly and entertaining. Waiters are fast to get your orders and refills. I asked for medium well and the chef cooked it to perfection. Sakura Chaya can be pricey but we’ll worth it. If you’re wondering if you’d be sat with strangers this is the case but you can call and make reservations for large groups.

I have been a big fan of Sakura Chaya over the years. In my opinion, the overall quality is somewhat lesser than it used to be. Maybe something has changed in the 10 or so years we've been going! That being said, it's still enjoyable - it's just gone from Great to Good. Regardless, I will be returning in the future.

Left us waiting for our reservation for over 15 minutes. But told us when we made it that if we were 5 minutes late we would be dropped. Seated us finally....to the grossest table possible. I'm honestly not sure we are gonna make it to the actual food, folks!
