According to the plaque there was an irrigation ditch that ran through here that powered a grain mill. As the plaque explains, a mob of irate citizens became sick of the smell and garbage accumulaying in the ditch and filled it in one day. After that the mill ran on diesel. Now there is just this cool little park across from the fresno city hall, library, and other local landmarks. It is a great downtown for a walk.

Cool old water tower. Has a bit of a whimsical or fairytale vibe. Wish I could have checked out the interior but unfortunately it was closed while I was there. Plenty of parking meters around it and a nice park. I was impressed with all of the art Deco buildings nearby.

The manager here is so helpful. She is knowledgeable and friendly. Love the association the water tower has developed with the arts council. Such creative ideas.

I can't believe I've never gone inside despite living in Fresno for years. It's an amazing gem, definitely worth your time to check it out. The inside is beautiful with a lot of art from local artists on display. They also have free publications with activities to do in the area, so if your looking for something to do this summer this is a great place to look.

I have passed by the tower one to many times and FINALLY stopped in recently. WOW!!! If you want to see some awesome brickwork, this place is INCREDIBLE! There are over 250,000 hand-laid bricks in the tower. The art shop inside is very nice. The staff was very friendly. No longer used for water storage (is was emptied and taken out of use back in the 1960's) but it is nice to see it restored and repurposed. A true treasure of Fresno's past!

This place is pretty awesome, but it could be so much better if it was more community based, parking is rough, and depending upon the day it may be free or you'll have to pay. However, this place is perfect for gatherings and hanging out.

Always a beautiful site to behold. Check out my picks of the water tower from across the street, the pics with a missile near the tank. I saw that and said to myself nobody has taken that pic before!

Really cool place of history in Fresno! Ran by volunteers so hours and availability can vary. Tons of art for sale inside. Manager is very informative. They also have by one get one free Fresno zoo tickets! Ask to see the tunnel!

One of my favorite Fresno landmarks. Cool inside too! But I guess it is a coffe shop bow inside or that was the rumor

It is an iconic piece of history for Fresno. Neat to see it after seeing it in a comedy miniseries in the 80's named well...Fresno. It was being restored.

This is a neat little venue to visit. Artsy for sure. Every morning and evening I find myself here painting. It's a good spot to people watch near the jail and sheriff's station, so plenty of colorful characters for sure!
