Very disappointed with the management and ownership of the club. I've been a member for many years and it's very sad to see how awful the entire facility has become. There are ants and rats in the kitchens and locker rooms. They continue to increase costs everywhere, including our member dues without updating anything in the club. Where is our money going and being spent? Looking in the staff parking lot It appears to be going into the pockets of the higher ups while members are left to deal with a club that is failing and falling apart more and more every day. No oversight of housekeeping so one day you might have a towel and other days you have to beg for one. Showers and locker rooms are filthy, hardly any cleaning done throughout the day by the housekeeping staff other than Maria. And to top it off the customer service, especially in the evening and from Neil Lloyd is appalling. It's become a very militant operation just checking in when going in the afternoon/evening .I highly recommend saving your money and joining a club where member experience and doing the right thing are present and a priority of the club. At this location and company, that is the farthest from the truth. Very sad what's happened to this place and bay club company as a whole. And couldn't agree more with Daren regarding childcare. Several of my girlfriends have these same issues but nothing is being done about it like everything else wrong at the club. Matthew Stevens you should be cleaning house both literally and physically ASAP

Warning! The childcare is a great feature of this club and a big part of the reason we joined. However, it is almost impossible to book your children in. I have spoken to several parents who stay up until the midnight deadline and still have trouble getting their children in for a reasonable amount of time. They’ve clearly outsold the capacity. It is making us reconsider the high price we pay. Otherwise the faculties are great and the pool is a big plus particularly in the summer.

The Club is what they call "putting lipstick on a pig". Sure you can update some of the equipment, but it's still falling apart. They used to serve oatmeal and coffee in the morning, now you're lucky to get Ice out of the machine. There is no cleaning company outside of the staff so the place is filthy. Over the last several years it's become so bad with rats running across my feet in 77 or dirt and spit on the floors and locker rooms. Saddest part was this club once put members first and now all that matters is $ and what little they can do to still get $600+ a month. I hope I can save someone from the window dressing yours they out on, it ain't what they selling and I found that out first hand.

If I could I’d give them 0 star. This review is overdue. I’ve been wanting to write this but today I got encouraged to finally do it as I got to know a friend of mine had the same experience. I felt ashamed because I told her to come to this place so our kids can come together as well. Be aware: They have no limit for people in the pools so there might have 100s in each pool at the time. Sometimes they give private classes during busy days/hours and the instructor keep asking us to keep away from half of the pool reserved for private lessons. And the other half is packed. Club is always over crowded specially during summer and they are always short in towels during this time. You will always see dirt in the water and they never clean as they supposed to based on how busy the place can get. Nevertheless, they are bunch of cheaters. When Paul Yapp gave us the intro, he HE SAID: you can cancel membership at anytime. We emailed and called him for canceling our membership but got ignored. they charged us for extra 2 months. We kept emailing and calling and they were dismissive. I thought it happened only to us. But today I was talking to my friend and same thing happened to her. So please be aware of their scam. Another thing, My husband had an accident, and slipped while he stepped inside one of the pools. The shallow pool, where there used to be a slide, the floor of this pool was green, dirty, slippery, so that’s why he slipped and fell on his back, almost hitting his head. All the did was asking us where he fell not even saying sorry! They barely clean the pool floor so be aware of that too. It’s such a shame they charge people so high and maintenance is so poor.

IF there was an option for 0 stars I would. This Club is not what it used to be. I understand change is inevitable, but all the wrong things are impacted. Instead of changing out the broken lockers, showers, dirty carpets, they change membership prices. None of this money is being invested into up keep & cleaning the club. The house keepers all fight with each other and there is no department manager overseeing housekeeping, its usually the kids at the front desk folding towels while managers sit behind the desk in that office eating (we can see them when you check in). The club is out of something every week, or something breaks or some group fitness class is canceled or moved. Its a shame how much this club has fallen apart. The PAC owners took care of the facility and its members, its nothing like that with these new Bay Club management and ownership. I am certain this will fall on deaf ears but if my review can save anyone the $ I highly suggest somewhere else to workout. The restaurant is filthy, there is no spa, you have to pay extra to use the tennis courts. What are you paying for? And to top it off, these new shared memberships allow someone to gain access without any screening. As a result all you hear and read about are thefts taking place. Shouldn't this be a safe club? Its not and clear to see there is nothing being done about it.

Equipments are old, very old. I am surprised people are even using such old cheap apartment quality Walmart grade equipments. One in the picture won’t sell more than $100 in Craigslist - so sad. If you guys don’t want to spend, may be we can do a fundraising event for new and high quality machines. This is a great place - please fix it.

The facility is large and spacious but it feels it was built several decades ago and is just barely being maintained like an old hotel. I wish the owners/operators would invest more into it.

That’s a nice place to attend. Nice people, Nice employees, Clean and smelling good. Plenty of lockers, actually I’m not sure in the peak hours of will have enough, but I think so. The only inconvenient situation, actually terrible experience was in the shower time… it burned me I can’t bring the water to the ideal temperature, hot as a hell OMG! So hot so hot so hot, I just realized when my athletic body 😆 was full of soap and shampoo and I can’t run to the other one. It was terrible, I think they own me a free eternal membership for this experience. I used the boxing area, and outside pool… By the way don’t use their boxing gloves, smell so bad… stinky feet. I was naive to use it. They have accessories to swim and lots of towels. You don’t need to bring your towel. There’s a free coffee and tea. I got a Parking space easily, but I think it’s not that easy to park. The pool was good, it’s good for training. If you see the Indian guy (Native American kind) walking around say “Hi” to him, super fun guy. He use to walk around no t-shirt, barefoot… good soul guy! I will try to afford a membership over there. I liked.

Not a pleasant experience of being a member… Reception staff is arrogant and their help is mostly a recommendation to check your app. If you want to urgently cancel membership because of relocation, you will still have to pay for one more month (what for if I never use your service?)

It's Okay. I would need more time to venture around the place but as far as first impressions go it's just OK. I gave them 4 stars because I know coming out of covid must be hard but they definitely need to run a tighter ship when it comes to cleanliness. The place is very old and that accounts for some of the disrepair. I'm just thinking for the membership cost they could do much better. I will go back and I will adjust my review as I see fit but I think it is a tough gig trying to keep up with the San Francisco Bay Club. The employees were cordial and helpful which is always a plus.

Another Bay Club location that’s now become extremely crowded. You can expect courts to be booked up, classes full, pools to be clogged with swimmers, and lines at gym machines. .

First time there and turns out they will throw all kids out of the pool at certain times. 15 minutes after arrival there was a forced break for our two year old (but not us). Makes no sense. Water play area also quite dirty and half of the features don’t work (if you can even get the staff to turn it on). This all looked much better when touring the place earlier… EDIT: Emailed Cori after seeing the response. No reply so far. Guessing this is just a semi-automated response to make it look like they care.

We have been members for only a few months. This was the first big family visit to the pool area. We arrived around noon and there are a lot of pools but most are tied off for lap swimming. Sadly it took almost 45 mins of hunting down for a seat and after we had found a couple seats there were no towels available. We had to wait about 20mins for a refill of the towel station. Pools were warm but slightly dirty with litter and bugs. Food was cold at the food station with old dried hot dogs. We opted to order at the bar for more fresh cheeseburger which was excellent along with the tater tots. At the end of the day we used the family showers to get the kids cleaned up and they were all full of huge piles of towels on the ground. Gym facilities are nice but could use some cleaning and updating. Overall wished our first family experience was a bit better. We still have 8 months on our membership

Club was spacious and relaxing until they moved all these different aerobic classes upstairs and a small area in the downstairs area. Upstairs they closed off half of the weight room so it is very cramped and too many people forced to workout next to each other. Seems like they are turning the club into a YMCA group class + kids play center ..they just use any space they want and dismiss single gym go-ers that are trying to workout in a spaced out environment.

One of the worst experiences dealing with their staff, they kept charging every month for services even when services are not being used and refuse to refund money. I had to go to my bank to claim fraudulent charges on my account.

New member since 2021 dec. The gym and basketball court are great. Two problems here: Firstly, the close time is way too early in the evening, which might make sense during pandemic, but as life is back to normal, pls extend the evening hours at least 1 hour. Secondly, the basketball is always rented during weekend evening. How can people play serious basketball here with half court( and even the un-rented half court filled with lots of kids)?? Update after half year experience: Now the basketball court is available in every weekday evening, which is great and I don’t have to worry about evening plan anymore. The only thing left is the closing time, which hasn’t changed back to the pre-pandemic schedule. Hopefully they can think about that since daily life is back to normal now.

This was one of the worst gyms I’ve seen. For $300 a month it was laughable. Disgusting locker rooms and less than 15 treadmills, you will always be waiting for a spot. Not worth it at all, they have nothing on Lifetime

This is BY FAR the very best gym on the Peninsula! I checked out other gyms (i.e. Equinox..extremely small, no windows, stuffy, not much equipment that is very close together) I have been to many gyms because I've been working out for a long time. This gym has the MOST equipment out of any gym I've ever seen! It's a very classy atmosphere. They have 2 floors with 2+ huge areas for lifting, 2+ huge areas for cardio. They offer a variety of unique classes! If you decide to tour the club, please ask for Jack. He was amazing bc he didn't pressure me at all and was extremely professional. This place makes me want to get in the best shape of my life because there is so so much equipment! Also, they spread their cardio eqpmnt out (which is amazing bc gyms carry germs) I truly can't find anything wrong with this gym.. I'm beyond impressed and couldn't recommend this gym more than I do! *Side Note: I noticed how kind the people are there. I think that's because this place puts everyone in a great mood!!

Been a member for over a year now. At first the equipment was outdated but now majority of the equipment/treadmills/stair masters have been updated with completely new machines. The fellow gym members are very respectful and friendly. They do a very good job keeping up with fresh clean white towels around the facility!

The Bay Club is an oasis. You can do everything here. I like a good early tennis game then a swim. They've got great tennis courts, and two Olympic sized pools. Sometimes I meet my friends here for lunch before getting a massage. Go check it out and see what I'm talking about.

Bay Club has a great environment to work out, swim, eat, and relax. It's also a great place to leave kids while adults can work and earn the membership for Bay Club. With all the events and activities offered here it is clear that they prioritize families as their main customer, so if you are a family of 3 or more then I would highly recommend. If not then just go to the regular gym, it will save you a lot of money.

It is confusing to cancel, and we have been asking whether we can get a refund for pre-paid and overcharged fees. We like the kids club but you need to book at midnight the week before for weekend care, otherwise you won't get a good spot. The restaurant is slow and expensive. Recently, they first charged us for mimosas we never ordered (we actually never even got water) and then showed us a corrected bill to approve, but it showed $50 less than what was actually charged to our membership. When I said something, the director of food and beverage told me they weren't going to change the amount. The pool is nice for families but crowded. They seem to be re-doing part of it. Exercise classes are hit or miss. The app works well but the good classes book up quickly. Not as many Sunday classes. Wish swimming lessons could be booked through the app - for private lessons, they encourage paying for multiple lessons at once but then it is really hard to book them. If you don't need a resort/club/updated vibe and have fairly low expectations, it has various amenities and a splash pad for kids. But I think the best thing is really the other members. The young people teaching the kids club are also usually friendly. The work spaces don't provide for much time for people needing a space to work but we will try to get out some emails here and there. But there are a lot of signs to leave valuables at home. Been excited for the "spa" but hasn't been open in at least the last year during any sort of normal hours. Parking always seems full. Bathrooms can get messy. Overall, pretty pricey for what you get, especially in the winter, but there are not a lot of alternatives for family pools with drop in kids care in the area. We had been referring friends here, but wondering if there are other options for summer pools and camps.

This is a review of the customer service and not a reflection of the club amenities. The response time was within 10 minutes when inquiring about signing up for membership. However, once I've signed up as a member, I receive no replies to the emails I sent to customer service. Calls were forwarded to automated recording asking to contact through their website yet those emails aren't returned. I've been in other clubs and this one, by far, has the worst customer service.

Great club, very spacious and well laid out equipment. My only complaint is the basketball court, particularly recently. They just throw kids in on the court at random times and kick who ever is playing off. Couldn’t there be a better spot for kids to run around and throw balls at each other?

Meh. It tries to be a "private" club but it's public. A lot of people who go here pretend to be something they're not. A lot of d bags walking around . It's cool.

This review is to specifically offer my gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding customer service provided by Casey during our recent visit to Bay Club Redwood Shores. Casey was incredibly friendly, diligent, and patient throughout our visit, and ensured we had a thorough visit of all of the club's amenities, and answered all our questions pertaining to the site/membership. She far exceeded my family's expectations, which resulted in us joining the club, which appeared to be in the midst of many promising upgrades, as well as offering a host of activities for the family. Thank you again to Casey for her wonderful support.

Excellent, spacious grounds with lots of activities and helpful staff. The grounds themselves are very outdated. Paint peeling, stains on the carpets and walls. Holes in the ceiling. Looks 30 years past due for a renovation. The average age here is mid 40’s. Kids running around without supervision, which is fine. Overall the style and cleanliness was sub par. In terms of substance, there is a lot! So many amenities. Lots of space. In terms of form? Lacking stupendously. No taste. No style. Run like a YMCA, but more run down. The Santa Clara location showcases what it could be.

I love Bay Club! Great classes and awesome instructors (Winnie and Steven are my favorite). I like the COVID system where we are allowed to not wear our masks while working out. The bathroom is great and has everything you need (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shave cream). The showers are great. The staff is always friendly. It’s my favorite place.

Pretty premium. Still a chain, expensive, but pretty expansive with what they offer. Best for families, a bit of the "keep up with Joneses" about it, but pretty convenient, so I'm in.

  • 4/5 Garrett S. 1 year ago on Google
Spacious facility and a diverse group of equipment. It’s a great place to sucked into for a few hours because of all the amenities. Some areas and equipment are outdated, and if you enjoy basketball, the availability of the court can be frustrating. They hold too many group classes in the basketball courts and the summer camp can occupy the area for quite some time, too. If they could move the location of the group classes so the court could be used for basketball, I think many patrons/hoopers would be more satisfied.

My family has been members at CourtSide for decades (30 years)before they became part of Bay Club. I recently moved up the peninsula, and I’m very pleased with Redwood Shores. The Staff is very friendly and the facilities are very clean as far as I can tell. I have zero complaints, great facility!

Well maintained club but some cardio equipment are getting old; better to visit the club when not busy … they have a nice water slide and water activities for the kids

  • 5/5 dave l. 2 years ago on Google
Extensive salt water pools for lap swimming, racket sports, and basketball are some of the outstanding features of this family friendly version of Bay Club in the peninsula. Friendly staff, fairly well maintained locker room, featuring sauna and steam room. Not too crowded even when its crowded and you end up parking almost in the next plaza.

  • 5/5 Tammy F. 5 months ago on Google • 1 review
I have been a member here since the pandemic. I chose it primarily for the pools. They are very clean and not too overcrowded, except on weekends. The gym is incredible, with every possible exercise equipment available. The wait for the machines is typically not too long. I also appreciate that some cardio equipment faces the pool as I find it relaxing to look at the blue water when I exercise. The only negative is that there often many little kids in the dressing rooms on weekends making the area somewhat noisy.
