Just got back after a weeks stays. Positives are .. very clean and Covid safe. Staff very friendly and helpful. Just across the road from the lovely beach and close to lots of bars & restaurants. The lobby, bar and restaurant all very new and modern. Sea view room is a must to see the sunrise and to watch the bustling nightlife! .. breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Even though the bedroom and bathroom were adequate, they could do with a makeover to make them a little bit brighter to match the rest of the hotel but they were fine it’s not a complaint. If you want a double bed, it’s best to tell reception when checking in as at first we were given a room with 2 singles pushed together! We really enjoyed our stay at the Ilunion and thoroughly recommend staying here. We will definitely stay here again .. it was perfect

We are seasoned travellers. We have stayed at many 4* hotels - how the Ilunion got it's 4* rating we'll never know! It's definitely 3* (at 4* money). The biggest positive is its location - its perfect. The breakfast was good (apart from them allowing a young girl to cook the fried eggs and omelettes on 3 mornings of our stay. She didnt have a clue. We left our eggs, we couldn't eat them, especially as she cooked everything in half a pint of oil! - the other cooks on the other days, a man and a lady, were good). The reception/lounge/bar area is good. Bedroom/bathroom very clean. Now for the rest..... *Although our room was very clean, it smelled of cigarette smoke and took a good few days before this disappeared. We are non-smokers. *pool too small for the number of guests *as the pool is small, they don't have to have a life guard - and the shallow end is too deep for children *saw the pool guy almost every morning, early, we were always the first guests there. He would walk round the pool, do nothing, sign he'd been there, then leave. He saw a lot of sand round the shallow end steps one morning and just left it. We presumed we would see him doing some sort of cleaning? *they need at least another rung on the pool steps for older people to easily get out of the pool *too few sunbeds around the pool and no sun parasols AT ALL. It's either full sun or complete shade under the building *the sun disappears round the pool at 3 p.m. *a drinks trolley is brought round the pool for 2 hours twice a week. There was an ice bucket but the bottles of beer, cokes, etc were standing on the open trolley in the heat (30° to 32° all the time we were there). We've stayed in 3* hotels before now that have had proper small pool bars. There's actually not a lot of outside space in this hotel to be fair. *In the corner under the building is a small square of artificial grass with a piece of colourful artwork on the wall (children's area). The "grass" needed vacuuming badly and we didn't see, not once, any activities for children (maybe we missed it? - although we were round the pool every day at different times) *There was a 45 minute session of Aquafit that I managed to catch one day. The "instructor" would have been good if the exercise/dance had been on dry land, but she didn't have a clue for exercise in the water. We were supposed to copy her, wiggling our hips, moving our legs forwards, backwards, across very quickly, which was impossible with the force of the water, so none of us could keep up to her speed. It was more "dance", which would have been great on dry land - she was getting us to touch our eyes, ears, swirling our hands around our heads, wiggling our hips - in the water! This woman needs to get in the water to see for herself how ridiculous her routine is. Why is the Ilunion not employing suitably qualified people (I'm including the awful pianist in this, as well as the "singer" on a karaoke mic who couldnt sing well - I must add we both LOVE piano music usually) *the plants and flowers in planters around 2 sides of the pool. The earth was bone dry, didn't see any signs of them being watered at all during our stay. The dead heads of the flowers hadn't been removed but the weeds were tall and flourishing. There were also cigarette butts in the planters that hadn't been removed. No care taken at all - a 4* hotel standards?? I don't think so! *We booked a "side sea view" room, but our room was in a corner so we had HALF an odd- shaped balcony, shared with the room next door and because the building is on 2 sides with a corner there was no privacy on the balcony. *the 4* Ilunion advertises evening entertainment. This "so-called" entertainment was very poor. We've had much better in the past, in 3* hotels. *lastly there was an issue with them charging us for a service we could never have had. We went to reception and I have now emailed them twice and asked them to refund us, but to no avail. A refusal from reception and no replies from my 2 written communications. Poor show Ilunion Hotels - we won't be back!

LOVED staying here!! Staff were beyond polite and helpful, not just for the room but the whole trip. The rooms are perfect, the view is 10/10, unobstructed view of the sea, so it's worth getting a balcony. Parking is easy there, but you do have to pay. Location is absolutely unbeatable. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

Excelent service by very friendly staff. The rooms are customised in a modern fashion way, very clean and surprisingly spacious and quiet. The view was fantastic, the breakfast was good and it's located close to everything in Fuengirola.

TL:DR ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/ 5 Stars - only because the food needed to be kept warm, this is just me being picky though. Fanatic hotel, for a fantastic price. We stayed here for a week on a shoulder season holiday and we were very pleased with this hotel. We have stayed in our share of horrifying hotels but this was far from it -especially for the value! The reception is incredibly shiny and new, beautifully styled. This hotel is accomodating to those with disabilities and also hires people with disabilities, it’s so nice to see the inclusivity. Pet-friendly as well! Our room was upgraded for free to a 10th floor sea view room. Beach front hotel with less than 30 second walk to the water. Our only fault here is that the corner rooms have an awkward “shared” balcony. This wasn’t an issue at all, until our neighbour moved in. We were placed in between two apartments who seemed to know each other and spent 2 days laughing/smoking/talking/drinking loudly across our balcony (practically in our room). When I approached reception about this though they were incredibly helpful and offered to change rooms for us at 10pm at night! We asked them just to tell the rowdy guests to respect the noise - but I really appreciate the hospitality and thought the staff here have for their guests. Cleaning staff are so fantastic and very friendly. Every day for 5 days they left our room spotless and fresh for the night. It is so nice to come back to a room made up after exploring all day. By the last days of our trip they did not put the “decoration” on the bed - which saved us having to rip off the covers and pillows when we want to sleep - very thoughtful! We stayed here with full board for the week, and we were pleasantly surprised with this. Breakfast and Dinner are served in a lovely dining room on the 1st Floor, as a buffet style meal. Our only fault for this would be that the food that is meant to be kept hot in the trays- was barely even warm. I believe if they have some Bain-Marie’s or turn on the hot plates under the food trays this would be perfect otherwise! The food cooked on demand on an evening Veal and Tuna, was absolutely perfect. Best fish I have ever tasted. The chef does not speak any English but that is fine - I can practise my Spanish. Lunch is a set menu option downstairs in the Bar/Lobby seating area. We had this on the first day, personally I was not a fan of the chicken and the potatoes they served were not warm. We didn’t have lunch at the hotel again as we were too busy exploring - no complaints there. All the customer facing staff had perfect English (I think these were the supervisors or managers), however we got to practise some creative Spanish with lower ranking staff. All of them friendly and happy to help.

Had a short break to escape the English rain, lovely clean modern hotel with friendly helpful staff. I recommend a sea view room if they are available. We had a junior suite which was excellent and the balcony was huge it went round 3 sides of our room. Lots of good bars and restaurants close by and the beach was yards away just over the road. The surrounding areas are very flat,no hills so it was a pleasant stroll whichever direction you choose to go.

We stayed a week here 17th October half board. Hotel lovely and clean, super large lobby bar area. Piano music most nights. One minute across the road to the beach. Towels to hire from hotel. Staff very helpful . Swimming pool on 2nd floor and smaller with limited beds and can go in the shade. Balcony rooms at an extra cost. Food very good and something for everyone fish, meat, pasta, salads, fruit, yogurts, ,desserts, soups, bread. Cooking of eggs and omelettes available on request. Very comfy beds, linen and towels changed often. Two beds and parasol on the beach 6 euros per person all day. We will be coming back again thank you.

Staff were excellent upon arrival. Our room on our first night was ok but not great. Cigarettes on balcony floor, so not cleaned, and what looked like blood stains on wall and ceiling outside our balcony (room 1409). The air conditioning did not work so it was like sleeping in a sauna. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. We stayed in a different room on our last night and this was clean and air conditioning worked. It seemed that the hotel varied depending on room. We had breakfast on this morning and it was a good selection to choose from. Staff were attentive and polite.

A great location and a beautiful view of the ocean. Train Station very close and nice restaurants and shops. We had half board in Hotel and food was disappointing mostly cold. Also the bar did not have any draught beer, 9bottles only. It was also very expensive 2 drinks €12. A bit disappointing.

We are here at the moment. Although I gave 5 for location that’s based on being near the sea and bar/restaurants. The hotel itself is very shaded and the sun gone from after lunch, hence the ice cold pool. The pool is in a very strange place. The service score is based on the maid entering the room when asked them not to. Room, very comfortable bed, clean but little bits are worn ( dirty lampshades). Breakfast, great selection of food. Could do for someone to be on the egg station all the time as got sick of waiting. The bar is extremely expensive, £14 for two gin and tonics. 😳😳

Very disappointed, great location can't fault that. But 1 tiny bar of soap not replaced had to ask, shower gel ran out had to ask at reception, but it never came. No shower caps. Basically, all you get is the soap. And that's just the bathroom. The tea/coffee one sachet of milk each day till the end of the week when no milk was left. Restaurant very clean food basic, oily nothing enticing, ALWAYS warm to 🥶. Food dinner / breakfast very poor.

Hotel Ilunion had amazing views. We got an upgrade when we arrived to a junior suite for an extra 25€ a night. Massive wraparound balcony with clear view of beach and square to the left. Baboú (might be misspelled) who I believed to be one of the managers was a gentleman the entire stay. Fantastic hotel, great value, great service and great location. Only problem we had was that the cleaners left our bedroom door open by accident! But nothing was taken luckily. We did not bother to mention this as it was an obvious accident.

I went to Hotel Ilunion for my birthday weekend as I had seen really good reviews. The hotel didn't disappoint. On entry, it was just gorgeous and really inviting. The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially with check and wifi use. The buffet breakfast had so much variety. There was something for everyone. My room was on the 9th floor, so my balcony view was lovely. The room was really nice and very clean and spacious. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

No air conditioning and TV not working. Few toiletries, but accommodating front desk. Sunny rooms and great location across from beach. Fantastic breakfast buffet.

Nice hotel located directly in front of the beach of Fuengirola , about 200 m walking. Room was spacious and very clean although it was standard and has no sea view. Markets and shopping centers are very near and one can shop while walking around Nearby restaurants Walking on the beach is very attractive activity Service is good Cleanness is excellent Breakfast is varied, organized and delicious. The most attractive are the evening folklore activities presented in the hotel, very interesting and amazing shows. 🙁I stayed three nights: one day there was no room service!! And I left my shirt in the specified bag for ironing but they didn’t take it.

All would be good except of the reception guys. In case you agree something with them Always request it in the written form. What they promised in the morning it's not valid in the afternoon. Really bad experience and frustrating.

All I’ll say is stay at another hotel. The room we paid for and the room we got are a mile apart. Service is ok, however, When we complained they told us they would refund us the money and to stay somewhere else. We had to then pay more for the room we originally paid for.

Only had drinks, so can't comment on food, rooms or amenities. Very friendly and helpful staff and considering the location and the 4* rating, VERY reasonably priced for drinks. 3 large beers, a pot of tea and a slice of cake, came in at €14.25...plus tip. Very bright and airy interior with plenty of seating both inside and out. Certainly worth a visit and highly recommended.

Not happy with this hotel. I booked the standard room option and I was given a room with no balcony and the "view" was the nearby tower block. I guess you either have to pay doble for a sea view room or not book this hotel at all. I had a breakfast only once and it was mediocre. Maybe good for a city hotel in Madrid, but certainly not what I had at other hotels in Fuengirola.

A lovely hotel. Our room was very clean and even had a balcony overlooking a public area, and a side view of the water. The dinner and breakfast was very good, and had a large variety.

Spent 4 nights in Ilunion, perfect location right on the beach. Train st 5 minutes behind hotel Room was spacious, modern and clean Sea view with a balcony All meals were good although the buffet menu can get quite repetitive All staff we met were friendly and helpful Would recommend and most likely stay again if in the area

Loved the fact that they employ people with disabilities. That's very nice and they themselves were very kind and catered to our needs. Highly recommend this Hotel.

Rooms lovely, location great, pool area a bit scruffy would also be better located as it doesn't get the sun all day. Female receptionists not very approachable . We no clean towels made 3 calls to reception still no towels

Not sure if this hotel deserves 4*. The staff attitude and the fact that most cant even speak basic English. The food was really basic and boring, literally the same every day. My brother was served raw fish. The plates and glasses were not cleaned properly, always stained and wet. All the rooms are very small and beds not comfortable.you can't even use the pool, cause the water is just ice cold. Definitely not worth the money.

Stayed in this hotel on many occasions and it is actually getting better every time. Brilliant location, spotlessly clean, friendly staff and great facilities. Swimming pool always seems cold though. Fantastic hotel. Highly recommended

Quality hotel for adults, not for children. I did inform the staff about a safety issue and was ignored - not a good sign.

Thank you Ilunion. Lovely place and nice service. Only one mention, nobody tell has, why the fire alarm system, star at 6 AM.

  • 5/5 Pekka N. 1 year ago on Google
The room was very clean and pretty. The hotel breakfast was great though quite expensive and the hotel pool was a nice addition. The location is great with literally a train station 250m away and the beach right in front. Also a big selection of different restaurants right around the corner. The reception was happy to help with everything, sometimes the reception staff english could have been a bit better. TV in the room could have been a bit better or atleast bigger, (current one was 32"). The wifi had a staggering range and we could access it even from the beach and next door restaurants but the speed wasn't that great. The room safe was big enough and easy to use with clear instructions.
