46億年の地球史的に見れば人類の歴史なんて一瞬の出来事で、5億年前に爆発的に増えた動植物は絶えず絶滅と進化を繰り返し、鬱になりそうですが地球も寿命を迎えてしまうってのが自然系の学問の答えですし。
荒川上流域の秩父地方は日本の近代地学発祥の地と言う事で、地学大好きタモリさんの番組、タモリ倶楽部でもブラタモリでも取り上げられています。秩父地方は間違いなく日本有数のジオサイトなのですが、ユネスコの世界ジオパークに登録して無いですし、日本ジオパーク登録さえも要件にイチャモンを付けられる始末。観光地的かつ産業的利用に振れ過ぎてるんでしょうね。あの痛々しい姿の武甲山と正面から向き合って、答えを提示する必要がある様です。
