When you take the trip to watch dolphins be prepared just to enjoy the trip as you may well not see any dolphins or whales. I've learned subsequently that October and November is when there are the most sightings - other times of the year you have to be lucky.

👍👍 One of the hidden gems of Funchal that can be easily missed. You can see the cliffs from above the promenade walk, but you can go through the small gate and follow the path down to the ocean. Spend a few minutes listening to the waves smashing into the cliffs.

😠 This is so sad. Everywhere in this beautiful garden/park they have animals in cages. Birds and rabbits. The rabbits have no space, no gras to run on, they look so sad and bored. It's unacceptable in 2021 to pretend that you care for animals and then put them in cages like that for everyone to stare...
