Beach lacks basic maintenance. It is littered with plastic waste and broken alcohol bottles. There is no sign boards or directions to beach. The tourism authorities need to look at using the beach and church as a good tourism center as well. Limited restaurants for good food, I could find couple of Veg restaurants, for Non Veg there was not a single decent restaurant that I could find. When it rains, the place is not good to walk as well. There is lot of development that has happened to take care of tourists stay. But needs improvement on other areas like maintenance, management etc etc.

Nice place for sun rise and sun setting view. Usually not crowded. Will be crowded during fest times. One can find lodges, hotel, shopping centre 500m from the beach. One can find chruches near to it. Have beach top view also. Some lodges are located near to beach, so you can have beach look.

Beautiful beach.. Dont miss the sun 🌞 rise from here. The authorities should maintain the place. The visitors should keep it clean. Not so clean.

The beach is visited by many tourists and locals who see the church. On the weekends it is obviously very crowded, but toward the end of the beach it’s a bit quieter there. We sat on the chairs at the stall, ordered some juice and water while our friends played in the beach. It’s extremely hot and there isn’t any shady area or umbrellas for hire, but it’s ok for a quick visit. On the way to the beach you can buy ice Gola which is very tasty and thirst quenching.

Nice beach but dirty. The lanes are full of fish sellers. You'll get that fish smell all the way. There are many food joints nearby. Street food has lots of non vegetarian options. You get too many sea shells home decor. All garbage is on road or in sea. This beach Needs attention.

Long awaited trip.....every movement was fun and out of the world experience. Journey was fabulous with good roads n beautiful scenery's all the way. The churches and the environment around Velankanni is heavenly. The locals are very helpful and friendly. Sea and seafood was fabulous. Totally had a great time.

Overall cleanliness of the improved a bit compared to my last visit( Some years ago) . They put up concrete blocks in the pathway leading to the beach. But a lot can be done to improve the cleanliness. I visited on a weekday, it was really buzzing. There are literally no toilets available in the beach area. No changing rooms , not enough waste baskets . Overall the authorities and the people have to keep the place clean as much as possible .

Velankanni church is an old and popular church. It has a very traditional value. It has an exceptionally beautiful view.There is so much to walk and see there. The worst thing in velankanni church is it is not at all clean. There is sand inside the church. It should be properly maintained and cleaned by the authorities because it is a highly devotional place. 🙏

Really good place to spend time. Careful with jelly fish as they come to shores during full moon day. Rest everything is good.

The beach is almost edge and become very short unlike those days. But still people enjoying. Very good spot.

Our New Year's 2024 beach house stay on December 31st and January 1st was highlighted by breathtaking waves, creating wonderful moments with family and friends. However, the beachside shops and parks were poorly maintained, and prices seemed unreasonably inflated, with a noticeable mismatch in quality. Many visitors opted to bring their own cooking items, preparing food themselves rather than relying on the subpar offerings available.

Velankanni Beach, one of the prominent attractions of the region, is located in the Nagapattinam District and it lies on the coastline of the Bay of Bengal. Velankanni village is located towards the south of this beach and was believed to be the port for trading with various western countries such as Rome and Greece. The holy Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health is located near the beach and attracts a significant number of devotees every year. A pathway from the church entrance leads to the beach and there are a lot of small shops on either side of this pathway. I was appalled by the state of this beach. You will see a lot of rubbish strewn all over the beach. I cannot imagine how people get into the water, the garbage strewn all around would surely make it into the water when the tide rises. The beach is very poorly maintained and there are no lifeguards in sight. If you want to sample the food you see on the little carts and shacks on the beach, I suggest you take utmost care. There are food joints with variety of fish, squid,crab etc. But the made is quite local. Everyone may wont like it.

This beach maintenance is too bad... The shops are trying to cheat people. Some Shops are too good and giving service to the people with good quality. Many begging people on road,many are smoking...I can put some videos of beggers smoking in public where no one cares... Action should be taken to protect the pilgrimage centre.

Nice beach, have a long beach area. But few places are deep and not suited for children and people who don't know swimming. There were police personnel watching any unusual incidents. Huge footfall on weekends. Nice shopping areas and seafood. 2 days trip will be sufficient. Very good maintenance but lacking in waste management.

Wonderful architecture work was done inside the church. The restaurants near the beach should have to improve the quality of food. Very worst quality foods they are providing and cleaning also not done

A very popular beach. All the incoming waves were beautiful and sunrice view is amazing to see in the morning and it is a must visit place. Alcohol drinkers should avoid throwing alcohol bottles on the beach.

Wonder full place for spend your weekend with your family Wonderfull beach sight you can get many shopes for eating snacks and sea food also available Many shopes with kids toys ( you need to consider bring your children throw the beach road 🤠) tatoo shopes etc., You can swim in the sea but I'm personally not recommended that

It's always a pleasure to visit Velankanni church and its Beach. Sea level has risen and waves are hitting the shops. Can able to see some preventive measures and ropes in the sea to restrict people going deep into the sea.

This beach is very beautiful to spend evenings especially in the summer . This time due to the rain the beach was closed for the visitors .
