Pros: 1. Great location and hospitality 2. Very prompt in room services (lunch tea and snacks only) 3. Excellent view of beach from villa 4. Good swimming pool 5. Very kind staffs Cons: 1. Its not a private stay. Lot of group events happen and many people visit this place as sightseeing location 2. Breakfast slot was from 8-10 AM. It was served in an open lawn but the climate was extremely hot. Having paid a premium room charge 10k per night, I would have preferred to get breakfast in my room itself and eat leisurely. Even tea/coffee was not served in the room. I spent exactly 10 minutes and grabbed the breakfast and fled away that too with a toddler. Overall good experience. I recommend this place to everyone as a day package. If you are staying then you might be disappointed about not being pampered for breakfast. Vacations cannot be rushed into :)

We stayed in #303 for a night and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Simple basic resort which is well maintained with wonderful lawn in the beach front very inviting. All the front line staff are very professional and attentive. Room was clean and ready on arrival.Since we stayed only for a night will not be able to comment about the room service and housekeeping. . The food and the service was very good and the chef was more than willing to prepare the food of your choice. The waitress in the restaurant well trained. The receptionist was pleasant , well informed and very professional. There could be more activities for the kids to keep them occupied. An activity coordinator will be useful to keep the guests involved in some group activity. Will definitely recommend.

We had a memorable stay at Shelter beach resorts. The stay was comfortable; rooms are very neat and well maintained. And to add, the view from the cottages on the beach are lovely. The service was excellent and the staff are very courteous. The choice of food and quality was quite impressive as well. Situated on the East Coast Road within an hour drive from Chennai, makes Shelter Beach Resorts a nice getaway.

We enjoyed lot ... Swimming pool was very clear. Green garden, children enjoyed. Indoor games was good High technology locks and lockers Felt secured. Customer service awesome. They renovated their rooms and furniture Our cars water wash done and ready to go to office next day...so excited 😊

Standard rooms are good for two adults. Bedsheets and towels are clean. Housekeeping is OK. Kettle is provided in the room. Food was not good taste wise. Glad that, did not take the food package.This resort is 12km away from Mahabalipuram. It is on the highway. So general shops or other restaurants are not within walking distance. Resort is on the beach.

Good resort in Mahabalipuram. We had booked 2 rooms in this resort. Rooms are of decent size and luggage was taken to the rooms from parking on a EV Buggy. Both the rooms, the Swipe Access card was not working and we had to call the reception couple of times to get access. We were provided a key for manual access and one key worked for both the rooms. Felt it was a security issue if someone else could open our rooms with their key. Also, the toilet was not well maintained with shower and hand spray not working properly. Staff was not courteous and twice I had to take the coffee myself from the canteen to the beach area. Otherwise, the private beach is good and clean. Kids enjoyed a lot on the beach and lawn area. Regarding swimming pool - ladies were not allowed into pool without a skull cap.. but gents are allowed. not sure what logic. We had to buy 2 caps for the ladies to get into the pool. Breakfast was included and good options and tasty. We had to pay for dinner and the price was slightly above reasonable charges. All in all - Good resort but if they can be more courteous to the guests and fix small issues in the bathroom, it can be a great place.

Beautiful resort, great staff most of them speak in Tamil. See side rooms are having the best view and comfort. Good food, has restaurant and room service available. Property is well located in maps and has ample parking space and indoor games. Due to covid swimming pool wasn't functioning when we went but beach is just walk away so serves the purpose. Nearby to popular site seeing points.

Enjoyed the stay to the fullest. Hospitality is good. Beach side access is a great fun. Swimming pool are chill out for the entire family. Though stayed only for 2 days had spent a nice time at swimming pool, beach view and food court,

Average hotel room, no sea view, very good property, easy and comfortable beach access. Small park, few indoor games, pool including kids pool, average restaurant facility, nice breakfast spread. Cycle was available but not in working condition.

Stayed here for a day and it was a good experience. Since the property was fully occupied we could get only a standard room, which was not great but also not bad. I must say, the food was amazing at their restaurant and so was their breakfast buffet. And the people and staff were very welcoming. They are renovating parts of the facility but it was not any disturbance. They have indoor and outdoor games in property. Overall a good experience at the hotel. Very small things that could have been better, at the room the phone was not next to the bed. Room was clean but just an average room (again stayed at standard room). Buffet was put out in an outside lawn with chair and table arrangements. It was a good experience except that too many crows to disturb you and we'll they are waiting for some food too. They used to have small shelters near beech to sit and relax, which they don't have anymore and guess it's part of some renovation as they are doing some lawn arrangements which is good.

We had a business trip recently but they may need to have some other features like mic and speaker's so that it can be cover entire crowd we had a 40+ people but the vocal is feeble res of the amenities and the service given by them is awesome

We had a wonderful stay at the resort. All the staff members are fantastic and really helpful. We were there three nights for a wedding and it was a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this resort for events and for a lovely stay at a clean place with its own private beach access.

Very nice compact place for friends and family get together. Cleanly maintained and greeny. Taste and quality of food is awesome. Beach facing rooms with lawn is excellent. Management and staff are courteous. If they plan some some chairs in beach sand and one sign board before their resort will be more useful.

Currently am staying at resort. I have checked in @10pm. But they said to check out 12 noon. let's see.. Pic of standard room in online was down, but in reality it was very good and well spacious and clean room. Till now it's good... Hope Food should be good. Very good Lawn area - to spend evening time and Sea Side/Beach. Clean nd Neat. Enjoyed Swimming pool for 3 hrs after check-out. Tender coconut is available in the poolside. Surprisingly NO chlorine irritation in eyes even after such a long time in pool. Suggestions: Need 24/7 Cafeteria. as we gotta check-in late night, found no soft drinks or chocolates or any other snacks in refrigerator and to our bad restaurant or cafeteria is closed :( had to wait till morning for food. Overall GOOD for BEACH RESORT.

We went as a big group with young kids. All rooms were neat. Kids enjoyed the indoor and outdoor play areas. The property is on the beach and beach is very clean and well maintained. There are no life gaurds but there's a security warning us of depth and tide. Sunrise was super scenic. Tea was served in the beachside lawn both evening and morning which was more than welcome. A magic show n DJ night was organised in the lawn and we were served outdoors which was a unique experience. The dinner from samudra restaurant was amazing. We ordered only veg fare. All the dishes exceeded expectations. Only the pool was a bit of a let down. It is well maintained but floats were chargeable which was unacceptable for me. Also nylon/spandex costumes compulsory for all and some ladies in the group had to buy or forgo getting into the pool. And swim caps were charged at 200 per piece. So all this gave a money minded feeling and let down service. But otherwise no complaints and overall great experience.

We had our college reunion there and our entire day went completely hassle free. All arrangements were perfect and ready even before we could reach there! Food was great too! The staff were very helpful and coordinated everything perfect to the T! All over had a BLAST! We highly recommend this resort for group outings/reunion and we can assure you'll have a great fun filled day.

We were a big group travelling with senior citizens and we were very well taken care of. Service was prompt, and all our requests were attended to immediately. Food was very well prepared. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Shelter was pleasantly surprising for us. After seeing the pics of standard rooms on the web we were a bit sceptical. It looked very ordinary, but after checking in we were more than satisfied. It was spacious enough, well equipped and clean. The rooms were just 50 meters off the beach. The beach access was private and it was clean. The food at the restaurant was mostly good and on few occasions above average. The menu was expectedly limited. The resort staff were very hospitable and were willing to go the extra mile to satisfy us. In terms of recreational facilities, they have a kids park, well maintained swimming pool and a small play area. They also operate a couple of battery vehicles to move guests and luggage up and down. All in all, it was pleasant stay at shelter and it more than met our expectation.

Very well maintained resort. Very prompt and courteous staff. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Food was very tasty. Unlike others, the veg buffet had a lot of varieties. They have even maintained the beach and lawn very well. Kudos to the team. Keep up the good work.

Best place to enjoy. Good accessibility of beach, lawn, Children's play area. Well connected by battery carts. Food was exceptional. But the quality of the rooms can still be improved. There was bad odur in the rooms we stayed. We took 4 rooms during our stay.

We took two rooms, one deluxe suite and another standard room. Everything was excellent! Except the bathroom of the standard room was not very good, the bathroom looked old and needed renovation. Other than that, everything was good. Really enjoyed the breakfast and dinner. Reception service is very good as well. Anand, Kalay and Mariya who were at the reception and they were very cordial with us and helpful. One suggestion, the swimming pool could be a bit vibrant with lighting and all.

Excellent Room Service and they respond to all our requests immediately. Clean and fresh water in Swimming pool everyday. They arrange for Tea/Coffee near beach side morning and evening. Beach is just 50 metres from the rooms. Also for old age people, they have wheelchair. Food is nice during breakfast. Overall very good experience and we really liked staying here.

Best place for family.We came with family and overall we satisfied with the hospitality shown by each and everyone. Easy access to private beach and awesome pool. You have indoor games to hang around. Hotel is neatly maintained. I would definitely recommend shelter beach to others.

One of the good resorts on the ECR which is priced very competitively. Their beach facing rooms are very good and spacious. Food is good and you get quite a wide variety. Not a lot of fancy stuff though. Their swimming pool is a bit of a disappointment. Special mention about Kalai and Mariya at the reception who were very warm and helpful. To sum up, if you are looking for a family vacation on the beach with a sea facing cottage for a good price, this is the best you can get at the price offered.

Ride to rooms in the buggy, kids play area, the FOOD, the location, event celebrations on the Beachfront, the swimming pool, room service - everything is fantastic. Very, very pleased. We were visiting family from the US when we went to this place together - happy with everything !

Beach is not accessible, very dangerous to swim. Resort staff did not informed about this during booking. All dishes under food are completely with no taste. Rooms are kept clean, room service and house keeping service is quite fast. Swimming pool is not kept clean, lot of crow dung and feathers everywhere in the swimming pool. Disgusting to swim in the pool.

I would have given 5 stars if they had served dinner on time.. Almost 1 hr 30 m of waiting time for serving Dinner at restaurant which spoiled our weekend mood ..Suggested to take a room service for ur meal .. But food served was delicious and cost effective. other than that they receive us very well, resort has a private beach access, spacious rooms, Good lawn, breakfast served at garden area , indoor and outdoor play area is good. Housekeeping is good.. Parking can be improved.

Sir, you have maintained your property in a great way. But we are little disappointed we spoke for an video shoot in your premises and the day before when we went to pay the advance your employees told , we don't permit. It was totally disappointing. And we incurred a heavy loss searching for another at the last minute... the 4 star is only for your beach facing property and lawn ... We are still interested for our next shoot if you can provide us let me know in comments. But don't disappoint after agreeing.

I was the only person organized this event and there was no such incident happened by our drivers and there was no extra head count. Your staffs were treated me so badly even I justified. You have to change your head count method like putting tag without checking whether they are guest or not. I have paid extra amount without being served and also I have paid extra bed (4 rooms-1 room) charges without extra bed (600*4 persons , 1100 * 4 = 4 rooms). Don't give false reply to my review.

Their beach view rooms only are good , not any other rooms. So when you book please book beach facing room only.. Apart from that, in the room we were staying (not beach view room), phone was not working to make the calls to order food or call the reception, the attendees were also kinda slow wen ever called (called over our phone only), the rooms weren't that clean, even the way to room (the pathway) were dirty, but food was really good both quality and quantity.

Wonderful place for a weekend from a busy week with good food and atmosphere. A great place to keep family events and functions as well. We held my brother's marriage over the weekend at Shelter and the staff handled and made it easier for us to conduct the event. Best compliments

The stay was fine, although the food was terrible. I was surprised how they could mess up even the most non-messable (if such a word exists) items like Chicken Butter masala. Other than the food, everything is just okay (not okay enough for the price paid)

Sea view room was awesome. Food was delicious. Morning sunrise took me to a different experience. We stayed one night in sea view room n the other day we shifted to a standard room.. Standard room I don't recommend. The toilet was not cleaned, not well maintained taps. No proper water from the tap. U can go for the sea view room. Breakfast n evening tea was the complimentary.

A very nice place on ECR with good food and super friendly staff! Apart from the beach, you also have a pool, kids play area and indoor games. Breakfast (buffet) and dinner were out in the lawn. Lunch was inside the restaurant. It's better to pre-order lunch and dinner if you have kids as they take time. During our time, we had a magic show and live music. Kids enjoyed the magic show a lot esp. the close up magic. Thank you SHELTER team!
