Driving
from
Chennai
to
Mahabalipuram
on
a
hot
summer's
day
to
have
a
seafood
lunch
is
not
at
all
the
cool
thing
to
do!
The
sweltering
heat
gets
to
you
and
it's
only
the
thought
of
the
delicious
meal
ahead
that
keeps
you
going.
We
were
heading
to
Moonrakers
Restaurant
which
is
famous
for
its
fresh
seafood
delicacies.
Our
first
glimpse
of
the
restaurant
did
not
impress.
Located
in
the
middle
of
a
crowded
street,
the
place
was
dusty
and
none
too
clean.
The
server
offered
us
the
menu
and
my
friend
immediately
asked
for
the
Golden
Fried
Calamari
with
the
Garlic
Butter
Dip.
In
the
meantime
we
were
shown
a
selection
of
fish
and
crustaceans
from
which
we
could
select
our
preferences
for
the
meal.
We
opted
for
the
Lobster
Butter
Garlic
and
Pomfret
Tawa
Fry
and
a
plate
of
Egg
Fried
Rice.
The
Calamari
came
heaped
on
a
large
plate
and
was
quite
delicious.
Unfortunately
the
garlic
in
the
dip
was
overcooked
and
rendered
it
tasteless.
The
Lobster
was
quite
rubbery
and
flavourless
and
was
drenched
in
the
same
overcooked
garlic
sauce.
The
Pomfret
Tawa
Fry
looked
quite
impressive
but
did
not
live
up
to
expectations.
The
server
insisted
that
it
was
white
pomfret
though
it
was
clearly
black
pomfret.
It
was
dry
and
hard
and
smothered
in
a
vinegary
sauce
with
the
overwhelming
flavours
of
ginger
and
garlic.
The
Egg
Fried
Rice
was
average
and
would
definitely
have
got
a
thumbs
down
from
Uncle
Roger.
All
in
all
a
disappointing,
overpriced
meal
and
not
worth
the
trip!
