This is one of the best zoological parks in India. Before planning a visit, make sure atleast 4-5 hours are kept aside to completely enjoy the full zoo since this is really vast. There is an entrance fee of Rs. 30 per head, Rs. 25 for still camera. Car parking fee is Rs. 20 and ample space is available for parking. Once inside, there are different options to roam around. One is to walk around the zoo which should be done at a slow and relaxed pace, since you have to walk a lot. Other option is to hire a bicycle, which they have many and costs just Rs.10 per hour and which I consider the best option, if you don't have small kids. Other alternative is to take an open electric van, which costs Rs. 30 per head. It will take you around the zoo in one hour. If you want to travel inside alone with your family, you can book the full electric van for Rs.330. Now regarding the inmates, the zoo has a very good collection of animals and birds. A wide variety of monkeys and birds are there besides other animals. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the place. Make sure to carry sufficient drinking water with you. Some snack bars are there inside, but the menu is extremely limited or there may be nothing of your choice at all. Weekends are bit crowded and noisy, so a weekday is better to visit the zoo.

A Wonderful Experience - One day Trip - Great fun with Friends - Cycling after long is Wow - Zoo is open on all days except Tuesdays - Entry Ticket fare increased to 90/- - For every 2 persons, one have to take camera pass 25/- - We saw many animals & birds including Lion, Tiger, White Tiger & Cheetah - 4 canteens are available inside zoo at different places. Best advice is to take a bag with water bottle & lot of snaks to eat inside. If you want to cover whole zoo in one trip, better to take cycle which cost 30/- per hour and electric cycle 90/- per hour which needs driving licence (200/- & 500/- rps deposit is required for mentioned cycles respectively). Big campus. Two/Four Wheeler parking available (Cost:Rs. 10rs for 2wheeler). Entry fee Rs. 75 per head for adult. Rs. 25 for Camara mobiles. Rd. 100 for watching animals in zoo's vehicle. Bicycle(Rs. 25per hour) is also Available inside the campus. Can say bicycle is the best option for roaming.

A good place to spend. Outside food is allowed so no need of worry. Zoo is very big need to walk very long distance to see all animals so Its better to get cycle inside the zoo.

A good zoo with not so good maintenance. Needs improvement in various enclosures and also the special enclosures such as butterfly park, reptile park and nocturnal park needs better maintenance. Cycle trip and road markings are very helpful, but various places are inaccessible. A new restaurant/food court in the inner part of the zoo will be very helpful.

Great place to spend minimum 3 to 5 hours in a day with family. Almost all the animals there but there is no proper guidance there to cover the place properly. You have batter operated car for 45 mins drive if you don’t like to walk. Great to see tigers, fish, snakes etc. Snacks are available across the zoo but food items are available only at the entrance. So pls well

The place is very nice and too much clean. You can take a cycle who can't walk. There are too much increadable things available which is too beautiful. The nature is really touched your heart.

Vandalur zoo

Very good place.

It's a very huge zoo. Plenty of wild animals, reptiles and amphibians are in captivity. Lion safari is very good here. Outside food is strictly prohibited inorder to avoid plastic waste. You can hire a bicycle if needed. Battery operated cars are available as well which is good for groups with old people. Parking is available for two wheelers as well as four wheelers. It's easily accessible from Chennai Central, Chennai Egmore, Chennai Beach, Chengalpattu and Tambaram railway stations. Buses are available in plenty to Avadi, Poonamallee, Broadway, Mount Road, Kelambakkam, CMBT, Airport and Redhills.

Entry charge is rocket high Rs 200 per head and Shortage of parking space and parking charge is at 150, employees leave the zoo at sharp 5 pm shuting down the lights people has to go out at own risk .Deposit for water bottle is not returned employees abscond by evening.

This zoo is very close just 5-10 mins walk from the Vandarulu railway station or you can take shared autorikshwa as well. It will take around 4-5 hours to watch the zoo completely. Entry fees is 90 RS for adult. And 500 RS for Foreigners. There is bicycle facility as well which chares you around 25 RS to 90RS per hour based on bicycle you select like normal electric etc. This zoo has various birds species that founda in Amazon jungle as they have mentioned the same over there. Over all nice place for hangout with friends family etc.

A good place to spend time. It's a large area with multiple species of animals/birds. bicycle and battery operated van service available for easy roaming. By walk it will be difficult to cover the whole area. Cameras are allowed with normal reasonable charges. Parking facility is available at nominal charges. Easy to locate. If you are taking bus, the stop name is Vandalur bus stop. Opened on weekends.

Great zoological park with good environment located beside the road The entry fees are really affordable and the sign board and road marking really help us to reach each and every corner of the park . Opened four wheels and bicycle are available there it self But there is only a few variety of animal and birds

Yesterday came to enjoy in zoo from Bangalore but it was closed because some political program was there beside of zoo we had zoo in Karnataka only y i went there booked my train tickets from here ,very worst experience.

My Aththan and along with my mother and cousins, we visited. It was very busy with the Saturday crowd. It was wonderful, we had a merry time. It was exhausting to walk around. We also went for the Lion Safari.

Toilets need to be improved

It is big zoo with lot of space and well maintained. The no of species have come down. The Safari has not much meaning, though battery cars are useful. Bicycles are available on hire and it is best way to explore the place. Did not see any elephants.

Bus is very frequent it's just opposite to crecent University so that's it's very easy way of communication for students and also u can go to zoo also which is just opposite to this place the best part about this place is u will get a bus for guindy in every 5min and it's the starting point so for sure u will get the seat in the bus and u can enjoy ur trip too.

It was beautiful experience, the animal's were good when I went there. It was awesome the climate was also chill at that time but one day will not be enough to see all those beauty.

Zoo overall is very large to spend a day but facilities and guidance are poor. There is very few food courts available in the zoo near the entrance area and water in the tap are not coming or comes in less speed and the other shock is they charge for restroom even after charging 50 at the entrance.If you want to spend time, better eat and come inside and have water in hand. For family, better option would be taking a motor vehicle in which you won't get tired and can cover all with ease. Friends can better walk rather than hiring vehicles.
