Deiva Thiru Sekkizhar Perumam birth place is Kundrathur and this temple is built in his memory. Sekkizhar's great poems on 63 Nayanmar Sivanadiyars is very elaborately explains the life's and devotion of nayanmars towards Lord Siva and God's love towards his devotees. Sekkizhar is also known as 64th Nayanmar.

There was the old saying β€œThondai Nadu sandor udaithu” it means the Thondai Nadu (Tondai mandalam also known as Tondai Nadu is a historical region located in the northernmost part of Tamil Nadu) filled with wisdom people. Roughly 750 years ago in a Shaivism family a baby boy was born in Kundthur and his parents named him as Arulmozhithevar. That point of time none thought He will be part of Indian History and going to write 12th Thirumurai and the Shivist followers will worship him and built a temple. Yes, his birthplace is a historic place in Kancheepuram district. His house converted into a small temple and the government of Tamil and the local community celebrates his death anniversary as big ten-day festival in Kundrathur. However, his birthday could have been maintained even better and make it part of the hindu heritage place. The east facing temple has Devia Sekkizhar idol and during month massi(3 days), the sunray will for shine on his idol. It one of uniqueness to be witnessed.

Temple in honour of Devine Poet Sri Sekkizhar who wrote the Great literature Periyapuranam. I am proud that I am a descendant of that great person. This Temple is very Simple one. Puja performed regularly. Government should take initiative to publicise about the Place to make more people aware of the existence of such a Place right in midst of ourselves.
