VANDALUR is next to Perungalathur, the gateway of Chennai ,when you are driving from CHENNAI . Vandalur is famous for it's zoo popularly known as ARIGNAR ANNA ZOOLOGICAL PARK, named after C N.ANNADURAI , the most revered late chief minister of TAMILNADU . This zoo earlier was at PARKTOWN , just behind RIPON BUILDINGS and the famous MOORE MARKET ( demolished now) . It was moved to Vandalur and started functioning there in a natural habitat of forests at the foot of a hill . The zoo covers an area of 1300 acres and is home to 170 species of animals, rèptiles and birds. For elderly people & children battery driven cars are there for a charge , for touring around the zoo . The zoo do have the distinction of being the oldest zoo of INDIA . Opposite to the zoo is SANGEETHA VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT and famous THALAPPAKATTI BIRIYANI where you can relax after a visit to the zoo and have your mouth watering meals or snacks . VANDALUR is also famous for CRESCENT ENGINEERING COLLEGE also known as B.S.ABDUR RAHMAN UNIVERSITY. A proposal to shift a portion of the KOYAMBEDU bus stand to VANDALUR is on the pipeline.

Well maintained. Nice paintings on the wall. If you have to go to Vandalur Zoo Or any other location nearby, get Electric Train to Vandalur. Get down here and get Ola / Uber vehicle. The cost from Chetpet Station to Vandalur Station is just 10 Rupees. It took about 28 minutes to travel. Nice station

This small railway station has three platforms, but if you're planning to visit the zoo, better use autos and share autos available from 1st platform as it's difficult to walk from here to board a bus.

Vandalur serves as the southern gateway to Chennai city. It has the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, which contains some rare species of wild flora and fauna. The neighbourhood is served by Vandalur railway station of the Chennai Suburban Railway network. In recent days vandalur zoo ticket is raised to Rs 200 for adult.. Nice place of chill climate and new bus stand is going to open near to vandalur Such a good place for ROTN peoples .. Less rent and good place..

This station should have kept near to zoo, people who are taking trains to zoo has to walk minimum 1-2km to reach the entrance and anyway you have to walk inside zoo too so people who can walk can use this station. It's 12car platform not a crowded place you might feel little bit insecured cos it ll be like an isolated station I very rarely saw 1-2 RPF . Station is clean and has flyover to reach the main road

Good maintenance and filled with trees. Only one disadvantage is there is only one functional Ticket counter , which is crowded during peak hours. One best advice is avoid crossing tracks when you arrive from Chengalpattu train. Use the Bridge (A Lot of runovers and accidents happen because of this).
