Believed to be one of the oldest and most revered temples of Chennai, Kapaleeswarar Temple is a shrine of Lord Shiva. In the temple, the wife of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati is worshipped in the incarnation of Goddess Karpagambal. She is believed to be the 'Goddess of the Wish-Yielding Tree'. Built in the 7th century AD by Pallavas and was destroyed by Portuguese..

Very well maintained... Had wonderful childhood memories... Shiva statue in pond still present... That was heartening to see, only thing is they have put barricades and we can no longer give bath to the statue... But that's understandable with the number of ppl now... Nicely developed...

Kapileshwar temple, belagavi is one of the oldest temple in india. The shivalinga here is said to have self-incarnated (Swayambhu). There is strong belief among devotees that the pilgrimage to the 12 jyotirlingas in india remains incomplete without paying a visit to this holy temple. Om namah Parvati pataye har har mahadev🙏🚩

👌🌸🌹🙏👌 जय शिव शंकर नमामि शंकर शिव शंकर श्मभु, जय गिरजा पति भवानी शंकर शिव शंकर श्मभु. I have been visiting this Kapileshwar mandir of Lord Shiva, since my childhood. This temple is one of the oldest temples in Belgaum and the origins of the temple date back to late 12th century and known as Dakshin Kashi or Kashi of the South. The idol of Shiva or Shivalinga is believed to be self originated, called SWAYAMBHU, and hence is very sacred for devotees. I have seen the temple has gone through many transformations over the years. Now there are idols of Lord Datta, Ganesh, Vishnu, Navagraha and Sai Baba in the temple premises including the temple of Navagraha. This temple is very sacred for us and attracts a large number of devotees during 'Shravan month' and on ' Maha Shiv raatri' There is also one large step temple tank known as 'Kund' beside the temple premises.

Kapileshwar Devasthan is a beautiful Shiv mandir located in Belgavi. As we were passing through that area, we went there for quick 5 minutes to seek blessings and ended up being there for over an hour. The temple premises is extremely clean and well maintained. The Shiva lingam here is self incarnated and temple is believed to be built sometime in 1000 AD. It is also referred to at the inscription in Kamal Basadi located in Belgavi fort. This place is also called as Dakshin Kashi and it is believed that the 12 Jyotirlingam Darshan Yatra is incomplete unless you start it from here. The temple is adorned with beautiful murals and psintings from puranas. Also there are small temples of other deities as well. A must visit place to seek Bhagwan Shiv's blessing while in Belgavi.

The Shivalinga here is said to have self-incarnated, and the inscriptions in Kamal Basti have references to the temple and say that the temple might have been opened in 1000 AD. It is believed that the visit and darshan of the 12 Jyotirlinga scattered all over India will remain incomplete unless started from Kapileshwar Temple.

Usually known as Dakshina Kashi. The Shivalinga here is believed to have self incarnated. The temple might have built in 1000 -1204 A.D. Temple is believed to be established by Maharishi Kapila, hence the name Kapileshwar. One must surely visit during Shravan month and on Shivaratri. There are other temples like Lord Ganesha, Sai Baba, Hanuman, Datta within this premise. There is also idol of Kalabhairava and Navagraha Temple. There's also a lord Shiva statue at the entrance in the pond. One can surely visit this place when in Belgaum.

It's the prernasthala of many belgaumites, it has high importance and people line up queues on Mondays for the darshana... the ambience is pleasant and there's also a galleria for art related to Mahadev inside the temple's premise.. it's a must visit and it's safe to go even during covid times.
