Starting
from
2013,
CFR
Galati
Station
has
a
symbol:
a
restored
steam
locomotive,
27
meters
long,
weighing
almost
100
tons.
Thus,
the
Ceferists
fulfilled
a
dream,
transforming
an
old
locomotive,
long
forgotten
in
the
yard,
into
a
museum
piece
that
can
be
admired.
"This
locomotive
has
been
in
the
depot
since
1984.
It
is
a
broad-gauge
Skoda-type
locomotive,
with
a
wide
gauge,"
declares
the
Director
of
the
Regional
Center
for
Exploitation,
Maintenance
and
Repairs
of
CF
Galati,
Eng.
Laurenţiu
Seceleanu,
adding:
"It
was
built
in
the
years
1942-1943,
in
Germany,
it
served
in
Romania,
pulling
trains,
after
which,
from
the
80s,
it
was
retired.
The
idea
of
placing
it
at
the
Railway
Station
came
from
the
desire
to
make
the
area
look
better.
I
know
people
are
unhappy
that
the
line
system
is
still
not
ready,
but
this
year
we
have
restarted
the
work.
The
locomotive
belongs
to
us,
it
belongs
to
CFR
Infrastructura,
as
well
as
the
land
on
which
we
placed
it.
It
is
a
heritage
piece,
which
we
have
restored,
painted
and
we
are
trying
to
protect.
Connoisseurs,
of
course,
could
say
that
it
is
not
complete,
it
no
longer
has
certain
component
parts,
but
the
important
thing
is
that
it
exists,
can
be
seen
and
will
certainly
be
an
attraction",
declares
Laurentiu
Seceleanu.
