This was the best food I’ve had in Sri Lanka. The restaurant is family run and the mom is the one who cooked the most incredible food in my life. If you are in the area you MUST come try it. The most authentic food, you feel like family in here.

This restaurant is a must when you’re visiting Galle! In this place we had the tastiest curry during my trip around Sri Lanka. The taste was just incredible, everything super fresh and flavoury. We had the mix of curries for 2 people and mango lassi - which was also top of the top! The owner is also an incredibly lovely person 🤍 Plus you can also get such cute handmade bracelets at their place 😍

10 curries, wondeful fruit juice. Good dessert, always packed, cozy interior and friendly staff. What more does you want. They don't accept reservations so be prepared to wait if you go there during peak hour. Ambience is very nice and as long as it does. Not rain you can have a delightful lunch or dinner and then walk it off on the galle fort

We went to lucky fort restaurant this evening. There was no one in the restaurant and we went there to support small & local business in town. We ordered rice & curry, milk rice, and vegetable fried noodles with fish. My son who is 11 years old got the vegetable fried noodles with fish. When I taste the fish, it was spoiled and you can even smell it.. unfortunately my son already had few bits before I caught it. I guess it’s too much ask for fresh fish when you live in a island! When I told them fish was bad they told us their fridge wasn’t working properly that’s how fish went bad. At this point I’m hoping my son would not get sick for rest of the time here. Then I taste the milk rice my daughter had. It tasted like they made milk rice with cow’s milk. Rice & curry was ok.. it wasn’t like wow and amazing! We were very disappointed. They took both meals of the bill as we expected. But we will never go back!!

Came here yesterday for a late lunch after watching some youtube videos on it. It did not disappoint. From the moment I arrived I felt welcomed, service and the food were amazing. Run by a family. Mum's the chef and they also run cooking classes. I had the 10 currys with rice deal. So fresh and the flavours. Highly recommend this restaurant

Both my wife and I did the cooking class today and it was an amazing experience. You start by preparing the vegetables, coconut milk etc... from scratch and then move onto using these ingredients to make several curries. This is 100% hands on, rather tham being a demonstation, so you come away with some real skills (and all the recipies in a book). As someone who loves food, this was a highligh of my time in Sri Lanka. Book it now.

I can't understand the bad comment s. Good curry is prepared before, it takes long. So it is already made. It is served warm. Every bowl tasted excellent. Fruit salad great. Juices are great. And it was really enough, even they offered me to refill for free. People with negative comments here should go to their fast food places.

(Translated by Google) We had very high expectations given the high scores. It was ok. The restaurant was small, stuffy, filthy and rickety furniture. Fungi spots on the ceiling. The food consisted of 10 curries of which 9 were vegetarian and one chicken. A large bowl of rice is added. The curries (more different flavors) were tasty. Absolutely sufficient. 2000 rupees (9.60 euro) incl. Drinks for 2 people. That is not a lot of money, of course. In short, nice price quality ratio. Good that I've been there. But elsewhere it is really better. Absoluut voldoende. 2000 roepies (9.60 euro) incl drank voor 2 personen. Dat is natuurlijk niet veel geld. Kortom mooie prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Goed dat ik er geweest ben. Maar elders is het toch echt beter.

(Translated by Google) We ate Rice & Curry every day for the past 20 days (cost sometimes less than 1 €) and were rather disappointed with this. Unfortunately not as tasty and spicy as expected and the most expensive price we have paid so far.

Very friendly family with a cute little familyrestaurant. The 10 curries are delicious. The food is not spicy and they only serve 1 maincourse. Fresh fruit smoothies make it complete.

(Translated by Google) We came because of the good reviews and went disappointed. It may have been good and cheap but a rice and curry for 900 rupees per person was the most expensive curry we had in the 3 weeks Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, the selection of 10 different curries does not tear it out, if all of them taste only medium. Even the Daal was bland. Quality goes before quantity and the portions are also manageable. Each curry was empty after three tablespoons.

Excellent authentic local homemade style food, especially for pure vegetarians in the heart of Galle fort. Fully worth the reasonable 1950 price for 2 people. All nine curries were yummy. Special mention for ginger tea and excellent service by the family. Definitely recommended for anyone especially vegetarians visiting Galle.

If you see people giving 5 stars because they don't know what they are tasting, it's no wonder because most of them are Europeans who don't know what a real curry tastes like... I think they value the number of items which is 10 items they serve... Alright now you will hear the value of an Asian... I came here 2 times, a friend took me here because he thought the place had good reviews... OK I'm coming!!! The first time I came I was surprised by the items that came, not because there were many but 3 small pieces of chicken lol... To be honest it was just fine at that time, I remember they served Mango Curry, there was beetroot, anyway all dishes were served cold... Then when I came the second time my friend invited 2 other friends to have lunch there... The food came and I was surprised that I found them changing the item... I didn't find Mango curry, and beetroot... The most annoying thing was that the taste of all the dishes changed, such as lack of seasoning, not very tasteful... I asked my two friends, what do you think? They think that they can cook Curry better than this lol oh the crackers catch a cold BTW the place is cramped and a bit hot... What I wonder how can they name their place cooking class but the taste of the food they serve is mediocre... Nothing really nice restaurants in Galle Fort, that's what I was afraid of, all places to eat are overpriced and overrated... One place I really want to go back there is called The Pasta Factory, but they are still closed

We stumbled across Lucky Fort while exploring Galle Fort and decided we'd go there for dinner. It turned out to be a great decision. The curry for two option is perfect for those searching for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, and it's one of the few places in the area that also serve beer. We then both got henna tattoos, courtesy of Mama Luck's charming and talented daughter, Hansi. Not finished there, we signed up for a cooking class the next day. This was one of the most enriching experiences of our entire holiday. We'll be sure to practice at home and hopefully impress people!

What a fabulous meal. The menu steers one to their wonderful selection of 10 curries which feeds two at a price for one. This easily surpasses the two 5 star hotel restaurants we visited. Family owned and run with all the charm one could hope for. No booze served but the lassis more than make up for it.

Lovely owner, who was incredibly thankful to see us as there are not many tourists at the moment... Rice and vegetable curry was really yummy and you can get as many refills as you want. 3850 for two is a bit expensive but it's worth it :-) Papaya and pineapple juice were also super good (and we've had many in our time in Sri Lanka ;-)) Highly recommend!

A local restaurant in the middle of Galle tourist area. The owners were very kind and nice, and she explained us a bit about the Buddhist culture. We ordered the 10 curry dish for two people, which contains 9/10 vegan curries. It was wonderful and delicious. Definitely a recommendation.

Ten curries prepared to perfection complemented by well cooked fresh rice. Went for lunch when the only item they serve is this rice and curry. Price was reasonable given what you get compared to rest of Old Fort restaurants - 1500 rupees. Service is good and the restaurant itself is very simple. Would strongly advise visiting.

Authentic homemade Sri Lankan food. Great option for veggies/ vegans. You can feel grandma's love in the cooking. We enjoyed the 10 curries dish for two people which was plenty of food for us. Ignore the negative reviews, they know not of what they speak.

Good curries & good deal for Galle. It’s a very sweet restaurant. Looks beautiful inside. The owner(s) are nice people. They also have a bathroom inside. We ordered the 10 curries. Very tasty! Some are also a bit spicy (at least for Europeans ;-)). Can recommend this place.

We spotted this restaurant on a day visit to Galle, and saw the menu and knew we had to visit. We came back for an evening meal as a family of four. We had the ten curry meal deal and all of the curries were exceptional, very tasty and so many different flavours. Other reviews have commented about leaving behind the main street restaurants and choosing this one. I could not agree more, lovely friendly owner, beautiful location and amazing food, what more could you want?

  • 5/5 Elisa P. 2 years ago on Google
Wonderful place! Forget about the restaurants in the Main Street and come to this little hidden food paradise. It’s a family run restaurant which offers you a variety of daily fresh made 10 curries to try - they were all amazing! You can even get a refill of your favorite. The atmosphere is also very lovely. Very authentic place and lovely service. I will come again :)

This place has the best variety of SriLankan curries in one place. You could get 10 different curries in one meal. Most of them are vegies and one meet curry. Well worth checking it out if you like SriLankan traditional cooking!

If you only do one thing in Galle, take the cooking lesson at this fantastic restaurant. We cooked a feast with Chandu and his wonderful mother and sister. It was amazing fun and we learned a lot of tips to try at home. Highly recommended.

Amazing delicious food - homemade traditional curries with rice and poppadoms! Great value too. We bought a few recipes and spices from them and hope we can recreate some of the dishes when we get home. The owners / hosts are so friendly, they make you feel so welcome. Thank you for having us and giving us such a lovely experience.

Do yourselves a favour and eat here! We’ve eaten some amazing Sri Lankan food while being here, but this was HANDS DOWN the BEST! The owners were so incredibly kind and welcoming, and the food was out of this world amazing. We had 1 1/2 serves of the 10 curries dish between 3 people and could not fault any of it, nor pick a favourite, because all 10 were all so unique and delicious in their own way. The food is authentic and made fresh (with love) daily, and it is a true Sri Lankan feast. This meal will be one I think about often and wish I could have on a regular basis. 10/10!

We did the cooking class and it was THE BEST! The food was incredible - we made 8 curries, a soup, made fresh coconut milk, coconut sambal and two types of roti. It was a true family experience - Lucky and Chandu were wonderful teachers, and were so warm, friendly and seemed to so happy to be teaching their recipes to us. We were there for a few hours and it was a great way to spend the day. If you are wanting to do a cooking class while I’m Sri Lanka, it must be this one! Highly, highly recommend to everyone!

We had a wonderful meal - rice, chicken curry, and TEN vegetable curries, with little popadoms. A great opportunity to try some new tastes, including jack fruit curry, sour mango curry, bread fruit curry marrow curry and pineapple curry. The spices were subtle except fot the chicken dish which was more firy.We chose passionfruit juice to go with the meal. All of the food was prepared by the Mum of the home, and served by her daughter. A great way to spend the evening. Excellent value for money.

Great place. We decided to come here because of the good reviews and the nice look from outside. It's small and unpretentious which is hard to find these days. The 10 different curries for lunch was simply amazing, so many different flavours and all but one we're vegetarian. Definitely enough for two persons! Super friendly and sweet waitress, very helpful. As the curries are premade, you don’t get to choose how spicy the food is. As tourists mostly visit the restaurant, the food isn’t really that spicy which I found less authentic. Otherwise the food is amazing! Although service was almost non existent when we went which was a shame.

(Translated by Google) We happened upon the restaurant. Unfortunately I have to confirm the reviews already made. The amount of curry for two people is unfortunately not enough. For the price we ate a lot more and better curry on our trip through Sri Lanka. The food was on the table after what felt like two minutes. Accordingly, it can be assumed that they were not freshly prepared. You could also taste it on the rice that was cold. We expected more for the price and were unfortunately disappointed.

I and my wife were in Galle only for a day. I must say we were really Lucky to have found Fort Lucky Restaurant. They serve 10 curries with rice. 9 of them are vegetarian and one Chicken curry. All of the curries had a different taste and no repetition of flavours. So, we got excited with each of the curries that were served as it reminded us of home cooked food by my mom. The taste of the food was very much similar to our food in India, although Sri Lankan taste has its own recognition. We ordered for the salted Lassi which was brilliant. Among all the curries, the one I liked the most was the pineapple curry. The restaurant is a small but cozy setup. Chandu was our host and server. He is a gem of a person. He was waiting on all tables and was working pretty hard. Yet he had a smile on his face. I wish him all the best and wish him a great fortune. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. It’s a must visit.

The menu is set (no a LA cart orders) for 10 types of curries served in a bowl with rice. They are very busy and the food takes time to get prepped so have to be a bit patient, but OHH MAN! WHAT TASTE! I let this place surprise me and it's one of the things I miss about Sri Lanka back home. Probably the best tasting most authentic rice and curry I've had in that country during my stay.

A lovely family hosting this cosy llace. As already written the menu is a 10 piece curry. 9 of them are vegetarian the tenth is chicken :). The food is delicious and one of the best selection of chrries we had during our one month trip through Sri Lanka. It wasn‘t very busy at 8pm and we got our food fast. You can always ask for more if you are a big eater. Highly recommend this place for authentic curries.

A delightful albeit rundown, family restaurant (and other things going by the name). The 10 Curry item is plenty for two. The mango juice a delight but avoid the lime soda until they serve it without 50 seeds. Friendly staff, quick service and calm location up a back street.

Great curry. One of the best during 14 day SL trip. Definetly a nice experience in pleasant atmosphere. Come at 6pm sharp or few mins before if you want to have a good seat. By 630pm place is full.

Great home cooked authentic meal. Who needs a menu when its that nice? One of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. Friendly staff too. If you like more spicey ask for some chilli sambal!

(Translated by Google) It is delicious but not outstanding. But it is too expensive. The curry set is 1800 rupees for two people. There is a 10% VAT or service charge.

A hidden gem on the commercialized historical town. Friendly family run business, good English speaking daughter & They have the one & only main course on the menu yet it's one of the best 10 curry & rice I've had in Sri Lanka during my 11 days stay. Btw, the portion is good for 2 pax.
