I stayed at Kingfisher for a few days in January 2022 and experienced some of the best service that I've encountered in the recent past. Kingfisher is conveniently located right on the beach on the main beach strip in Unawatuna. The room that I stayed in was just stunning, overlooking the ocean. The room was quote large and extremely well equipped. The service here is just phenomenal , where the staff was always making sure that I was having a good stay. The food and the cocktails are just the icing on the cake. Highly recommend for anyone to stay here.

Great place, great beach and great customer service. The mornings are fairly less crowded and is very calm and quiet. Really enjoyed the day spent there. The food was also great but was a teeny weeny bit costly. Loved the set up and the outdoor beds. Maybe have a proper changing room outside to have a change of cloths after a bath at sea.

We went to the restaurant on the beach and waited for like an half hour until we noticed no one came to our seat. Asked for the menu wich they don’t have. You have to go to the bar, check the menu at the boards go back to your seat and order back again at the bar?!? The location is really nice and there’s music but the service ruined everything. We ordered sisha and it tasted really strange like mold. I told the guy who bring the sisha it tasted weird and je literally admitted it and said I know it tasted weird but I didn’t make is! THERES MOLD IN THE SISHA. This is so harmful. They even ask service charge for a completely self service restaurant.

Such a relaxing atmosphere! Beautiful beach, and clear water. We rented a subbed for the day, which was clean and comfy! They gave us towels and ice cold water for free. Their mocktails are really reasonable and super tasty! By far the best place to spend the day on Unuwatuna beach 😍 the food is also really good, and delicious ! We came back for the chocolate brownie a few times :)

Lovely food, really tasty, service is friendly and courteous, and definitely Sri Lankan so expect to wait a wee while, but with views like that, it's not really a hardship :)

Amazing place ! If ever your looking for a place to stay in Galle , Kingfisher hotel is the place to be ! Friendly staff , great location, Breakfast is included, they do both English and traditional way , and both tasted splendid . Theres a boat tour available for an hour , that will take you to jungle beach , a must !

We haven't stayed there but used to visit on a regular basis for the day. When we first went 3 years ago I gave it 5 stars. For the past couple of times recently, the food is just not what it used to be 😟

Best place to visit. Food and location amazing

We stayed for 2 nights. Rooms are nice and cozy they are building another 12 rooms next door which will be great to see when finished. The food was amazing . We had the seafood platter for 2 on the first night with cocktails and wine. Staff very friendly and helpful. The location is right on the beach, very entertaining watching the people go by. Only negative we arrived after 11am and could not get a beach towel, we asked 3 times but had to wait until the next day to get one at breakfast. When check in is after 1pm beach towels should be made available. We will be back!!

I haven’t stayed here, but have stayed at other places in the area. This place plays techno music (not even good techno music) at obscenely high volumes until 4:30 AM on certain nights of the week. The hotel is only half built—the other part has been a construction site for more than five years—possibly 10, if I recall correctly. THEY ARE HURTING OTHER HOTELS IN THE AREA, AND DESTROYING THIS BEAUTIFUL LITTLE VILLAGE. DON’T CONTRIBUTE TO THE DESTRUCTION OF THIS COMMUNITY. Spend your tourist dollars elsewhere. If you want to party all night, go to Ibiza.

Lovely hotel with an amazing sea view. We stayed here for four nights. Staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. This is a perfect place to chill. They also have bar and restaurant. Food were delicious. And they also have party every Saturday. I highly recommend this hotel!!!

Our Saturday night at Kingfisher Club left much to be desired. Despite the anticipation of a vibrant party, the reality was disappointing. The entry fee, around 2500 LKR per person without cover charge, felt unjustified considering what was offered. The crowd wasn’t lively, and to add to the frustration, the kitchen closed by 10:30 pm, leaving us without any food options. Overall, it turned out to be a letdown, not meeting the expected energetic atmosphere and lacking basic amenities like food beyond a certain hour.

We stepped in for a little Snack and were toatally surprised by the nice quality of the food. We enjoyed every bite and went again. Ordered tandoori chicken wrap, garlic prawns, kingfisher salad and everything came quickly and together and was really really good! Totally recommand this place for small and big hunger! Burgers look fantastic too- even only saw on neighbours table. Will go and try soon.

The establishment offers a pleasant experience with its friendly staff, excellent food, and drinks, but the music selection doesn't quite match the overall quality.

Sachintha tried to convince us and serviced me and my friend a seafood plater that didn't have the food which he promised include. I would not recommend this place make sure that you get what they promise. They bluff and grab $$

Chilled place, Excellent food, and most of all you get to choose a range of fish from red mullet , jumbo prawns and even lobster!! Also very impressed by the service they provided. Although didn’t stay there overnight, accommodation is there if needed and on Fridays is party time!!! Around 250 people gather to dance and listen to house and trance music!!

Incredible seafood of the highest quality. Really enjoyed our night under the stars with fine seafood right on the beach at this restaurant. Definitely recommend!

Went to go here for dinner after someone recommended this place. The reason I'm giving it only a 2star is because the prices for food are not reflective of the menu on their website. They now write their menu on blackboards, which I can appreciate due to the changing exchange rate with the dollar and food price increases cos of the economic situation. However, 2550RS for a Thai curry is simply extortionate and not Sri Lankan prices at all. We went to an actual Thai restaurant not far from Unawatuna and the price of their Thai curry was less than 1000, Wajaya beach hotel also charges around 1500 for the same. So to charge prices over 2000 is crazy. We saw the menu and left. The staff seemed very friendly, hence the couple of star rating.

We booked the Christmas dinner at King Fisher. The menu was good but there was no atmosphere. The promised table near the water would not be given to us. There were some free tables the whole night. A nice thing was one guy with a guitar as a one man show.

The place is great! Food is really a good! The setting is beautiful. The service is excellent and very friendly staff... I would definitely come again...

Visited Kingfisher on friends recommendation and were not let down. The restaurant is located right on the beach and you can sit on a nice table on the sand. Menu is very rich, I personally had the Green Bean Prawn Curry that was delicious, accompanied by a bottle of white wine. Staff is efficient, helpful and fast. Prices are very reasonable. Nothing to complain about. Would highly recommend.

Best place to party on a Saturday night. Had the sea food pasta which was off the hook.

We did not stay here. But we had lunch on the beach. We ate the mahi mahi and fried fish. Both were very tender and large portions. The cocktails are nice, though they are small. The service here takes long, but sit back and enjoy the view!

Very nice place with a good music, atmosphere and delicious seafood. Shehan was our waiter and he is a very nice and friendly man. It was very nice to have a lunch there and to have a conversation with such a good guy

One of the good and must visit places to have some relaxed time. Great food and service. They do throw some late night parties every now and then. Check with the pub for details.
