We stayed 2 hotels away from happy banana. We enjoy calm atmosphere to find at the night that happy banana is running a party until 4:15 am, the DJ sound was shaking our rooms, my wife is pregnant when she we went down to ask to put drums down, they made fun of us, one guy shouted at my wife. HIS NAME IS WRITTEN DOWN, he pushed me, I called the police but they did NOTHING and all staff were hiding his name from us, until my wife called her English embassy and that’s when they got worried. NOT RECOMMENDED. THEY HIT GUESTS

Since a star was needed to share my thoughts, I had to put one here. Otherwise, it did not deserve even a single star. The service was inferior. The food was mediocre and certainly below par in terms of the portion size (I have dined in much better places). My suggestion to any traveler or a person who plans on visiting this 'happy banana': please try to avoid it! They know that the parking space is quite valuable for the visitors, and capitalize on that. Apart from that and the beach, I do not see any positives. BTW the serving staff requires more training on professional etiquette. One of the WORST places I have visited so far in Sri Lanka.

I had gone this place one of my friend contacts but they did not give quality service I had ordered three fried rice portion while they taken massive time to serve After deliver i had to ask several time regarding Chilli paste & sauce small portion ,no water on table They ware focusing only foreign guest This is not worth place to enjoy with your money 💷

It's a nice place with a great sea view. The menu is okay but so pricey it's not worth to money you spend. We went there for lunch and we had 2 chicken fried rice and 2 chicken Koththu they cost 4500/= we were so hungry we bought and they don't serve water I don't know why Is that very disappointed. A water bottle costs 200. The place nice but no customer service not worth for money. But I love the view. If they correct what I mentioned above that would be so great and it should be equal to everyone. Don't focus on foreigners. There are so many local travelers waiting to visit to your place. Good luck.

If you are not looking for weed and just want to have a chilled out & relaxing time with staff who are just there to help you with your orders, this is the place. The waiter who served us was super helpful and friendly. And unlike most of the other beach bars the staff were professional and weren't trying to sell something on the side, like weed or an impromptu snorkelling trip. Maybe that's why it was a tad pricier than the places around it, but it was well worth it as we just wanted to have a quiet dinner.

Happy Banana has a pleasant atmosphere. Both indoor and outdoor dining options are available. The food was okay, but I'm not sure if the prices are reasonable. The evening is the most suitable time for a hangout, as you can enjoy a beautiful sunset. Should include few changing rooms as there's no comfortable space.

The place has been around for ages, and grown over time. Still serves good food, and the location is fantastic with beach access.

Location is superb. Calm atmosphere. Food pricing was unreasonable and quality was not up to expectation. Availability of parking was a plus.

Such a beautiful place with the clean supper safe beaches food is very tasty and hot. Supper friendly staff. DJ music 🎶 and safe place for girls too.

Location is excellent and it is beautiful to have food along the beach. Very romantic setting. Food is a let down though. My partner ordered the burger: it didn't match what it said on the menu. We weren't given an explanation for why it was different to what the menu said. It tasted fine. I ordered the penne arribiata but it was not an arrabiata. Arrabiatas have some spice, this was just a plain a tomato sauce. Over priced and food quality wasn't great. Service was a little slow. Would recommend for drinks along the beach. Its stunning. Perhaps their srilankan cuisine is better than their western.

Average food, though small portions. More importantly, booze was very reasonably priced compared to their competitors.

Good place, good food but they can't do good hookah. Never take hookah in this place. I try to do hookah for my self but they have only 2 tastes.

We had a bad experience today 29.06.2023. There were 7 people in our group. After lunch when we asked for the desserts, without giving us a menu the waiter listed the desserts they have. We ordered fruitsalad and ice cream. The amount of fruit pieces on the salad was very little and the scoop of vanilla ice cream was tiny. When we received the bill we noticed that the restaurant has over priced the small fruit salad and tiny scoop of ice cream. They charged us Rs1550/- per one fruitsald and ice cream. OVERALL, I’m extremely disappointed with the food and charges from Happy Banana restaurant at Unavatuna Galle and would not recommended it to anyone

The food isn't good. For example the main dish in Sri Lanka it's Rice & curry, everywhere they serve this dish with 5 Curries and rice , here they only serve one curry and it's no good

It wasn’t all 5 courses from menu what we choose. Even there are 20 machans working and any customers. Lankian place that don’t have coconut milk, dhal, desserts and beer from menu lol. 3.9 is too high rate for them, I think 1/5 is absolutely right Good luck

Their kids menu is very good, also, the recipe that includes shrimp, squid, and lobster tastes good.. it has a good view that blends with the sea

Excellent beach restaurant with average price and not bad cuisine. Plenty space with umbrellas and cool shadow. Always playing good club music that doesn't annoy and let speak with comfort)

Nice location within the sunset.. foods are not much tasty for the spended money. Portions are mostly suit for single. Chicken soup is delicious. But tuna salad can not recommended. Poor quality. Service is satisfying. Less parking slots.. we were waiting more than half an hour to go out... overall fine for gathering with chilled beer.

Worst beef burger ever (no burger, just loose chunks of boiled beef and no sauce). Mojitos were also not good. And the music (on Friday) is sooooo loud, really annoying for the whole area around it. Service during dinner was friendly.

The most central cafe on Unawatuna Beach. The food and service are average and taste unremarkable. Fruit is good as everywhere else. Was here in 2018, then I liked this cafe more. Now the waiters are mostly not satisfied. As before, a beautiful entrance from the road and a large spreading tree greet you. A nice beach is accessible from the cafe, there are sun loungers, towels and sun umbrellas. In general, everything is not bad, but disgruntled waiters spoil the whole experience. I specially went to this cafe 3 times and the impression remained the same.

I'm really warried about staying in Happy Banana...There was no happiness, poor room condition ....no hot water ...no water ..😥😥 not recommend to stay.

Nice spot right on the beach but waited an hour and half for food. It was decent enough when it came, and reasonable price for location. Very surly waiter who kept blaming the kitchen!

Drinks are the price that you pay to get nice cocktails with real fruit but have almost no alcohol and use syrup. Tasted really bad. Luckily we didn’t eat as we could see the kitchen and the food wasn’t fresh

Favourite hang out spot on the beach...clean, sunbeds, great service and drinks. All staff are smiling and friendly. Friday party is good fun for groups of friends or couples to sit on the beach with live DJ. Will keep returning.
