Warning to female surfers! Unfortunately I had a very negative experience with an instructor called Bobby - he was extremely unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable during the surf lesson. I would not recommend this place, it was out of season but the whole place seemed a bit run down and dirty.

Great surf spot, perfect vawes for beginners to learn. Very friendly and competent instructor! Great deal, one of the best prices we found. You get an instructor for one hour and then the board for one more hour so you can practice yourself (and then of course you can just rent a board) Post surfing drink included in the price as well 👍 Best time to surf is early in the morning (around 8-10, then it gets more crowded in the water) or in the afternoon around 16.

I totally recommend it, great instructors, good prices. I also got a free soda. After the lesson you can stay and practice alone. Waves perfect for beginners. Come talk to them and see what they have to offer! 😍

An amazing location to surf at with good breaks and nice swirls! The cafe is also a great place to chill, have a snack and enjoy a coffee. Not to mention the amazing staff at Mahatun’s; especially the instructors and the locals. These guys really know what they are doing as most of the instructors are hardcore surfers in the area. If you’re an intermediate or pro surfer you will definitely love this place. If you are a beginner make sure you get the surf lessons and you’d be ripping waves in no time. 5/5 deffo reccomened this place to others! Happy surfing! 😄🤙🏽🏄‍♀️

Trying to cheat new surfers. They gave my gf a broken surf board and then tried to charge 4000 for “breaking” it. We literally went to the water saw it’s broken and came back to them

These guys have the best food, drinks and surfschool at the whole beach! We’ve been here two years ago and now they are even better you just need to check this place, you won’t regret.

The surf lesson was very good. However while I was in the water someone of the crew stole 1000 LKR out of my wallet. I know it because I prepared the money for the surflesson on pne side of my wallet and when I got back to the surf shop there weren‘t 2500 LKR anymore but only 1500 LKR. The boss said that he was very sorry and that it has never happened before, which I doubt. Make sure you know exactly how much money you have with you or just take as much money as the surf lesson costs with you.

We took surfing lessons, we liked everything, the instructor Komandos explained in broken Russian, he was a funny guy, there was a shower, we agreed on a certain time, everything was punctual. I recommend.

Best place! Good vibes, good friends, good waves, good drinks ☺️ The surf teachers are the best! If you know how to do a headstand ask charith to teach you how to do it on the surfboard!

Amazing surf point! Teachers are very good, friendly and well trained. After every surf lesson you can chill there with some fresh coconut juice and also take a shower.

The place is great! They put me (the cow) on my feet.) My wife was taught even faster.) There is a trainer who speaks a little Russian, which is very helpful if you don’t know English well. After the workout you are left with a lot of cool emotions, thank you very much for the impressions!

Very cool surf spot. The waves are suitable for beginners and the trainers will teach you a lot in a short time. Surfing lessons/board rentals and drinks are really inexpensive. Big recommendation 🤙🏼

As a beginner this is the perfect surfingspot in Unawatuna! The People here are super kind, the prices more than fair and the surfing lesson was fun and successful 🏄🏻‍♀️ Also the Restaurant/Bar was very good and they really don’t want to be unfair to tourists. The Sea is perfect for starters, as the waves are very soft and there are no stones or algae’s on the floor. We also loved chilling on the Sunbeds in the shadow 🌴 Thanks so much for this beautiful experience 🌊

Very nice surf station for learning. Three are small waves and they are coming really often, so you could try a lot. Really good fine-grained sand and the best teacher Janaka. He will encourage you to learn surfing, teach you to distinguish wave types, and really would cheer you up. Surf rent 500Rs, one lesson 3000Rs.

They have very bad food and not fresh, they will use you if you are a foreigner, stay away from them

After getting scammed at another surfing place near Koggala Beach (receiced a broken surfing board which we had to pay for) we tried this place. Great staff, very friendly and great lesson.

The waves are great and this cafe is the ideal spot to enjoy a full day of surfing.

Located in just the right spot on the beach. Nice staff. Rented a board + rash guard for early morning session. 400Rps for one hour . They watched my bag while surfing and fixed me up with a nice tuktuk driver when leaving. No problem exchanging boards if not satisfied with your fist choice. Simple and great!
