Horton Plains National Park is a must-visit for anyone interested in nature and wildlife. The park is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including many endemic species. The best time to visit is early in the morning when the park is cool and the views are clear. One of the most popular attractions in the park is World's End, a cliff that offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Mini World's End is another popular spot, and it offers a slightly less dramatic view of the landscape. Baker's Falls is a beautiful waterfall that is located in the park, and it is a great place to cool off on a hot day. The park is also home to a variety of hiking trails, which offer stunning views of the surrounding scenery. The trails are well-maintained, and they are a great way to explore the park. I highly recommend visiting Horton Plains National Park if you are looking for a place to enjoy nature and wildlife. The park is a beautiful and peaceful place, and it is sure to leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated. *The park is open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. *The entrance fee is 250 Sri Lankan rupees for adults and 100 Sri Lankan rupees for children. *There are a few places to stay in the park, but it is best to book in advance. *The park is located at an elevation of 2,100–2,300 m, so it is important to dress warmly. *Be sure to bring a camera to capture the stunning views. *Respect the environment and do not litter. This place makes a great destination for nature lovers seeking an authentic connection with the natural world..!

Horton National Park is one of the most popular National Park in Sri Lanka and is regarded as a Must-see place. The park is home to a variety of Flora and Fauna making it an interesting place for the Wild life and Nature enthusiasts alike. Best time to visit is early in the morning (6 AM to 10 AM) as it will let you have a clear view of the surroundings, mountains and valleys. It starts to get a little foggy around Noon, and you might not be able to get a clear view of the surroundings. Best time to visit is from January to March.

Walk to worlds end was phenomenal. The trail is well marked, no guide needed. It took us around 3 hours to complete the loop with a family of 4 (kids aged 11 and 13). Be sure to get there early to avoid both crowds and mists. We went during a public holiday and started the hike around 7.30, at which time it was pretty quiet. On the way back though crowds were massive. Be aware that it can easily take 1.5-2 hours to get to the start of the hike by taxi from Nuwara Eliya.

The park itself is amazing! We saw lots of deer! The vegetation is beautiful and very different to the rest of Sri Lanka since it's a cloud forest! The round walk takes about 3h with stops in between. Make sure to wear good footwear! Worlds end is the best! One star less for the high price. The price is rising every week! Last week it was 11.700 Rs for 2 adults, today it was 12.280 Rs. I've never done such an expensive hike!

In s good clear day you will enjoy beautiful views all the way. In misty day you get the opportunity to experience hard, rough weather pattern. Recommended to do the walk from Little Worlds End, Worlds End and to Bakers Falls. So you start the walk with hard section first and ends towards easy walking area.

Mesmerizing nature with beautiful mountains and greenery all around. This is by far one of the best national parks Sri Lanka has to offer. The rich biodiversity makes this an interesting place. Of course, it is most renowned for the world's end, mini world's end and the bakers fall all of which are must see places. It would take 3-4 hours to cover the entire loop (depends on how fast you walk). Be prepared for the cold, if you are trekking in the morning but plastics/polythene is not allowed. The best time to visit would be early morning 6-10am to both avoid the crowd and to see world's end without any obstructions from the mist. As later on (after 11-12 noon) mist would start to settle in).

Its a really great place to visit with your family and friends. Beautiful nature. Cold weather. Variates of plants and birds. Its a 8 km journey where you get to see the Mini Worlds End then the Great World's End and then Baker's Fall. There are also places located for camping as well. Not just these but you get to explore some more mountain peaks as well. I suggest you to get a leaflet on the entrance which cost you about 100 Srilankan Rs. Come enjoy the nature, the journey, the atmosphere, the experience in Horton Plains. If you go for a sunrise, choose the path to the left when prompted the option of left or right with easy or difficult. Go straight towards the worlds end views. You will get there faster and can enjoy the scenery first. The difficulty is all the same, both ways have the same heights and lengths, just in reversed order. So the signs are just misleading and meant for the current path in front of you, not the whole track in it self. Enjoy!

Unbelievable. It is beauty beyond imagination. I have visited the park twice. I want to go there again. It is a treasure that should be preserved. Unfortunately, Sri Lankans don't realise it. If you haven't visited this place, make sure you don't miss it when you plan you next trip. There are some animal species which are not found anywhere else. There is a water fall called Baker's falls. Water is very very cold. Further, it is exciting if you decide to camp at night. Don't take children if you plan to camp. There are primarily two routes to reach the park. Both routes are equally facinating. You need to buy tickets to enter the park. Be prepared to walk few kilometers for few hours. But it is absolutely thrilling. Have a good, hefty meal before you start the journey. There's not much food choice when you reach the top. If you reach the world's end before the mist arrives, you will enjoy a breath taking view. There are moose type animals. It is quite tempting to feed them. If you feed them they tend to forget their limits and ask for more.

Horton plains is one of the best walking trails where you gets to see lovely views with so much greenery and scenery. You could see the clouds moving right above you in fast forward, the walking trails takes you to mini wolds end, world end, Bakers falls and back to entrance. Mornings are always good to start as towards the afternoon there can be unexpected and heavy showers. The path closer to the entrance is concrete now. You have to get tickets for the entrance. There are many sambar deers along the road leading to the park. Please refrain from feeding them. Unless specified through signs do not get out of the vehicles along the roadside. There is huge free parking space available at the furthest place where there is a small canteen, a small museum and a gift shop. You cannot take plastic inside the park. Recently, there were sightings of leopards as well so be careful. There are toilets at the ticket booth and at the park entrance as well, it is not well maintained but usable. Overall it a a great experience and a must see destination of Sri Lanka

Best hike I’ve had in Sri Lanka! Beautiful view, it’s also a bit challenging. You better start your hike at 6am to have the best view otherwise it gets misty. You also get so lots of animals if you look closely

Horton plains is different from hikes you might be used to in Europe or North America due to the variety in the fauna at this 2k meter altitude. You can see reptiles, sambar deer, hear and see monkeys and even larger cats and leopards. If you have seen a waterfall, animals and some nice view points before this is not all that special, but the specifics of various animals in such a special climate and the endemic species here is what is most interesting. If you go for a sunrise, choose the path to the left when prompted the option of left or right with easy or difficult. Go straight towards the worlds end views. You will get there faster and can enjoy the scenery first. The difficulty is all the same, both ways have the same heights and lengths, just in reversed order. Horton Plains is one of the most important ecological systems of Sri Lanka, consisting of endemic plants & animals as well as being a major catchment area of main rivers in Sri Lanka. It can be accessed through Pattipola end as well as Ohiya end. Visitors need to purchase an entrance ticket as well as a pass for the vehicle at ticketing points. The park is being managed by the Department of Wildlife Conservation. Major attractions in the Horton Plains National Park are the World's End, Baker's Falls, Kirigalpoththa Mountain & Thotupala Mountain. There are 3 campsites as well as a few bungalows inside the park, which needs to be booked in advance from Colombo. The park is open from 6 am until 5 pm, but the visitors are not allowed to enter after 2 pm. It takes around 3-4 hours to complete the roundtrip inside the park (to visit the World's End & Baker's Falls).

Great paradise. I think this place is like a haven. Cloudy weather. Remember Jurassic work movie locations. Love this place. Horton Plains in Sri Lanka, is the coldest and windiest location in the country. It consists of ecosystems such as Montane evergreen forests, grasslands, marshy lands and aquatic ecosystem. At an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level, Horton Plains spreads across over 3,169 hectares of the highest tableland of the island. In view of the large number of endemic flora and fauna species, Horton Plains was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 30th July 2010.

Horton Plains National Park is a national park in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. The forest is called as montane grassland and cloud forest. It is located in high elevation. Attractive hill road at the beginning. Visitors need to take a valid ticket at the entrance. It is 600LKR for locals. The national park is rich in bio diversity specially birds, frogs and toads, lizards and most valuable leopards. Visitors are not allowed to bring polythene bags or polythene products at the entrance all polythene will be collected by the officials. The complete trail is 9km with several destinations including mini world's end, World's end and baker's water fall. Restroom facilities available in the park and drinking water too.

Absolutely loved this place. I can see in some of the other reviews some negative points about the ticket counter, but we had a really positive experience and the exchange rate used was spot on (we checked on the way to the park to make sure). The ticket man was friendly, so a good start. As for the price? I truly don’t think it’s expensive but I guess that’s subjective. You pay the same price for two cocktails in London and only gain a headache from that! The park itself was spotlessly clean and breathtaking. I applaud the park keepers for checking bags and removing plastics (apart from water bottles - but even the labels come off!). So many different things to see on the walk/hike. Unfortunately we did not see any animals, and the view from worlds end was completely cloudy, but we did get a good view from mini worlds end. Overall a really enjoyable time and felt like we had the whole place to ourselves for the most part.

Horton Plains is a beautiful place in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. It has two entrances, Pattipola and Ohiya. You can reach here by train, or you can drive from Nuwara Eliya. Visitors must purchase a ticket and permission for vehicle. Along Horton Trails, you can see Chimney Pool, Baker's Falls, The Great World's End and Mini World's End. Nature and Views are amazing. There are 3 camp sites as well as several bungalows in the park that need to be booked in advance. The park is open from 6 am. But entry is prohibited after 2 pm. Best time to visit is in the morning. A tour of the park, including World's Ends and Baker's Falls, takes 3-4 hours to complete. Have to travel about 8 km. The road is a bit dangerous during the rainy season. Remember to bring warm clothing and water. Take Only Memories, Leave Only Footprints. 👣🍂

Wow, a really amazing national park. Gorgeous view with a few big waterfalls to see along the way. Long stretches of mountains and grasslands with plenty of wildlife to see, and on the trail you jump in and out of dense cloud forests filled with the sounds of birds and monkeys. Trail to world's end is 3-4 hours long and can be a bit challenging with some rocks to climb over so come prepared for an adventure.

Nice place to hike. Wonderful experience to cherish forever. Should start your hike at 6. Then you can leave with in 4 hours. Its a circle way trail. There are paths. You can choose which one to start. One is from Baker's fall, great world end, mini world end and the entrance. We visited 30 people. It's a package. We paid 7310/= as the entrance ticket.

One of the best preserved national parks in the country. Easy to moderate trek and would roughly take 5-6 hours to cover the whole route properly. You can drive all the way up to the main entrance either from ohiya or pattipola routes.

Most people come here to see Worlds End and Bakers Falls. It is a scenic location but as others comment at $36 (you must pay in cash), it's an expensive and busy 3hr hike. If you come at dawn (6am) as recommended to get clear views, you could also hike to Kirigalpotta, Sri Lanka's 2nd highest mountain which will be much quieter... We didn't do it as we arrived later and you have to start this path before 11am! But you need to agree it with your taxi in as they need to wait while you are in the park. Single use plastics are not allowed (other than water).

It’s a beautiful plain.. but at the ludacrious price point of 35 EUR per person (for foreigners) + 35 EUR car taxi to/from Nuwara Eliya, I can’t recommend it to everyone. It’s something to do and we enjoyed it, but similar or even better parks around the world are completely free of cost, especially in the English speaking countries. It’s a 4 hour loop hike/trek (not to be underestimated) that most people begin at 5:00 AM from their hotel - it’s a 1 hour drive from Nuwara Eliya. The gate starts to work at 6:00 AM and it’s a bit of a rush with a queue to get in before: a) most animals have hid themselves (happens before 7 AM, but some are still visible); b) both of the World’s Ends are covered in fog (it’s pitch white when it happens). The Baker’s Falls is beautiful and a section of the road to the park has stunning eucalyptus trees (used on the railroads). You’ll also drive by the largest dairy farm in Sri Lanka (seeing the cows from The Netherlands is a treat). Take the left route (fastest to the views) and see Baker’s Falls AFTER. Clouds between the two mountaintops covering the furthest viewpoint out have already formed before 8:50 AM, you still have decent views for a short while. At 9:30 AM it’s covered in fog, and at 10:00 AM it’s pure white. To have the best view you have to be at 8:00 AM at either of the World’s Ends (there is quite a distance from each other). We went up the hill at Mini World’s End (not the way to reach World’s End) which had good views, but then World’s End was completely white. On the day we went there a landslide (due to heavier rains) had happened that delayed all of the cars to the park, reducing the animal/viewpoint viewing time. We were lucky enough to see: 1) a larger group of deers up close (pairs of them are seen frequently near the entrance); 2) a giant squirel; 3) a mongoose - twice; 3) some birds; 4) a green lizard - twice; 5) .. and the backside of a leopard on the road on our way out - very rare.

One of my favorite destinations in Sri Lanka. It is fabulous place to visit. Horton plain, its surroundings forests and the adjoining Peak Wilderness, consolidate Sri Lanka’s most important catchment area of almost all the major rives. The plains are also of outstanding the habitats and endemic plants and animals representatives of the country wet and montage zones.

Beautiful place , two roads are there - easy and difficult for u to choose. Bring water with you, it will be required for the 8 km trek. Bringing infants is bit risky as road is slippery with rocks during rainy season. Go early in the morning ( park opens at 6 am ) as in second half, clouds generally appears and it rains. Worlds end view will be lost in the clouds in second half of the day.

Best sight for Nature lovers 🍀 It's like a trek which takes around 3-5 hours to complete. Best time to visit is early morning. The park is spread over the two highest mountains in the area called Kirigalpotta and Totapola. The plateau-like structure along with plains on one end, thick forests and mountains on other make the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. You will find a number of waterfalls, lakes, rocky hills and views of the ocean in this part of the country. The forest is home to a number of wild animals and birds Along with plenty of wildlife, a cliff known as World's End is a top attraction at this park

World heritage site, national park. Above 2000m sea level this is a spectacular cloud forest with breath taking bio diversity. There is a ticket fee for the vehicle and individual adults. Tickets are different in price for locals and tourists. There are two main hikes. The 8-9 km wolds end loop - words end, mini worlds end - far spanning view points with great sun rises and views) , bakers fall. And the 7 km (14 km round trip) kirigalpoththa hike. Many endemic bird and plant species. Many other non endemic birds and amphibians. Large groups of Sambar dear can be seen. A strict no polythene zone. Bags are checked before they let you enter.

4 hours of walking, I felt like I was trekking through wildlife. The animals I guess are used to humans, they don't run away no matter how near you are... The strict no polythene policy still allows you to take plastic water bottles with you. So, a kind request, please don't leave anything exept footprints...

Such a lovely place to be in. Best time to visit is early morning. Aim to be at World's end atleast by 9 am to have a clear mist free view. It's hard to predict the climate its changes drastically. Be prepare to have a hard walk. Do not carry plastic items. It's roughly 10km walk around the plain if you are planning to see mini world's end, world's end and the banker's falls. Enjoy!!!

We followed the ‘easy’ route and did not find it an easy hike! We hadn’t really been on a hike like this before, the terrain was a variety of steps, hills and flat ground. There was patches of mud, steep stairs and lots of different obstacles. It was very rewarding to reach the viewpoints and overall we had a good morning here. We arrived just after 7 am and left at around 10.30 am :)

Went via Ambewela and came via Ohiya. Scenic surroundings everywhere. Went on a very sunny day. So it was bit different compared to the famous "hortan plains " feeling. Anyway enjoyed the 8miles walking. Tourist s have come with little children too. If they can walk not a very challenging path.

A easy hike of 9-10 km, with wonderful views as you walk by. - Kids can also do it. - Try to get as early as you can ( reaching around 5-6 am at the place ) - Wear proper shoes and shorts wear - Ticket is around Rs 4000 per person - You can take Tuk Tuk from Nuwara Eliya to Horton plains that will charge around Rs 3500. - The total time to walk is around 3-4 hrs. - Have some bananas to eat in between and a bottle of water will be helpful. - Don’t expect much animals to see around but you may get lucky.

For people who are in love with nature and for who admires the botanical difference between current and prehistoric plants, the prehistoric diversity of the nature which is still available in that area, would be a place full of amusement.

Great place to have visit during your vacation. There is a information centre where you can buy books, souvenirs etc. There are two roads for world's end and bakers falls. They have marked them according to difficulty of the path. My recommendation is to use the hard path because it goes through the forest. Easy one is though the grassland and it's little bit boring. They have added a concrete layer upto some extent of the road and that has destroyed the natural beauty.

This is a national park and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Sri Lanka, with a grassland and cloud forest rich in biodiversity. The most famous destination is "World's End." Other attractions include mini world's end, Backers waterfall, and Chimini pool. You will have to walk nearly 9 kilometers to reach all of these destinations. Before entering the park, you must purchase a ticket. The park opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m. The most important thing is to not bring any polythene or plastics.

Great walk. However, trip to parking somewhat burdensome, but with great views. Have to take the early bird to enjoy World End‘s views. From 12, high risk for tropical rain/thunder storms.

Nice park, but maybe a little overrated, definitely overpriced. We didn't see any animals except a few birds. The hike is a nice exercise with good view.

You have to walk on a very long path. But scenes are beautiful. You need to enter before 2pm. Otherwise you're not allowed to enter. No polythene can bring inside. Washrooms are available at the entry point, middle of the track and near baker's falls. Walking path is divided into two at the beginning and paths are named easy and difficult.

Some people say to go to Pattipola first and then take a tutu car, the price is only 1500. In fact, it is a small village, there are not many tutu cars, and the drivers there are very unscrupulous, and the price will not be reduced for 4,000 yuan, and they will try their best to kill customers.Horton National Park is also very worthless. Foreigners pay 12,500 rupees per person. I haven’t seen an animal. In fact, it’s just a world’s end check-in point, which is not worth the ticket price at all.

This is an exceptional location to experience nature and rare animals. If you are lucky you may see Leopards... With the plain, you may see plenty of animals and trees with … This is a nice walk about 8-10 Km with unexpected climate changes...

The best hike we ever took. nice and cold environment. Officials discourage to take polyethene and plastics so the environment is still protected. you find beautiful water streams/ a waterfall on the way and views are breath taking. you don't feel very tired because of the beauty of the surrounding.

This national park surprised me with an unique and totally different biodiversity than the rest of Sri Lanka 🇱🇰. A few moments i felt like being in a forest in my country Germany. The route took us 3.5 hours and had been quite easy most of the time. Try to spend half a day here.
