Hiriketiya really is a lovely little beach & surfing spot for beginners as well as good place to have swim. Not very deep and also not very shallow. Bit busy beach area in the tourist season. It is quite a small beach and most of it is taken up by surf board rentals, restaurant/cafe and sun loungers for rent, You really do need to rent sun loungers as there is little space to spread out your towels on the sand and if you have children there isn't much room for them to play.

Hiriketiya Beach is a public beach situated in Dikwella in the Matara district. It is a small beach with waves suitable for surfing. The surrounding area is calm and peaceful with a few restaurants and hotels. Hiriketiya Beach is a surferโ€™s paradise. For those who can excel the baby waves at Weligama, Hiriketiya has better waves to try out. There are quite a few places to rent surfboards for reasonable prices.

Overcrowded, overrated and overpriced. It is no longer โ€œcharming beachโ€. It was probably undiscovered secret place backpackers whispered about for 10-15 years ago. More and more young surfers coming every year and new constructions coming up. There are about 30 surfers at the same time when good conditions are expected in this narrow bay. It can be risky

I visited with few friends. This is a fantastic place to visit. Amazing view and beach. Also a place frequently used by surfers. May visit was off season and still it was a very good and enjoyable experience. Beach is clean and waves are fantastic. Total Experience is Fantastic. Definitely recommend it if you can make it there as itโ€™s all the way in Dickwella.

If you want to surf or learn how to do so, this is the beach in Dickwella for you. If you only want to bath and relax, go to the Dickwella Beach instead. It is more chilled and less crowded there.

Beautiful crystal water bay. Amazing to swim and observe the fishes, reef and turtles. While surfing I spotted turtles everyday swimming next to me. Blissful. I visit this beach in late November, and the waves were very small and little power. Very crowded with beginners too. So was very hard to surf. Specially at afternoon. More lucky you can get if you go early morning. Beautiful place though. Donโ€™t miss it!

If you find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and visit!! If you're a keen surfer, there are some incredible waves here! If you're not, then you have plenty of space to just hang out and relax. There are plenty of places around to get food and drinks as well.

One of the most picturesque beaches in the Southern coast of Sri Lanka. The beach is very beautiful and recommended for surfing. A tourist attraction and a crowded place. Located near Dickwella town and the access roads are in good condition. There are many restaurants around here.

Canโ€™t wait to go back to this beautiful piece of earth water sky and sunshine. Apt for beginners in surfing. Ample accommodations for all budgets. Plan to spend at least 2 days. I walked to a nearby isolated cliff where I was the only one there (not visited usually by public) to watch the breathtaking sunrise while the waves of mesmerising turquoise waters transported me to a beautiful paradise. A must visit to experience the surfing thrill while feeling one with nature.

Superb beach in down south. Beach is fully occupied by tourists when I was there. You can find many hotels, restaurants and homestays near to beach. Night time also colourful.

One of the most popular beaches in the area. We went there on a Saturday morning and the beach was almost empty, only one restaurant was open and that was quite expensive. Few foreigners were seen and some local groups turned up later on. If you are planning to visit Blue Beach Island there a road leading that way from the beach.

Awesome.. Not too many words can be used to describe this place.. You can take a sit at the tables or on the sunbeds.. And just relax.. If you are brave, you can try surfing. There a couple of places where you can rent and also get an instructor to teach you. Prices are decent, food is great. 4 persons, with a lot of beer and mojito.. And also with one meal.. Around 12 000 lkr. Service is very good. Don't miss this spot!

Perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Weligama and Mirissa. This beach is a lot more contained, but still great for surfers from beginner to more advanced. A few good spots around to have something to eat or drink.

Good location for surfing. Bay is very much picturesque and got few places to eat and drink. Got surfing boards and lessons on offer by the beach. Entry via the road next 360 is good as it lands in the middle of the bay. Location was very much calm during my visit. During early morning hours there are lot of surfers.

This beach is beat for surfing where the waveโ€™s very rough and speedy. Its little hard to bath here and not safe for kids bathing and playing on beach. Parking lots available in near by supermarket and some hotels are located here near by the beach.

One of the best beaches I have been to! Good for swimming, snorkeling, surfing. This beach is famous for surfing ( 2nd best in Sri Lanka). Parking available. Can rent surfboards ( about LKR 300 per hour). There are surf schools around and a lot of restaurants.

This is a phenomenal beach in the southern coast with a bluish sea. Sea is not rough and can walk along the sea for a long distance and suits for sea bathing . We can rent a surf board for surfing and it is a good surfing point.

Eye catching view of one of a very beautiful beach in Matara. Also very good beach to bathe and play. Most of time the beach filled with tourists.

Hiriketiya beach is very attractive bay & beach in foreigners & srilankans. The depth of sea in this area is low. Therefore relatively high tides generate. So it is best place for surfing. When you reach there, you can see the sea is full of surfers. As my opening ,this is one of the place you must go.

Amazing secluded bay beach with small waves for beginner surfers. Couple of small food spots (didnโ€™t try them yet). The water was warm, the sun was out and the people were friendly. Whatโ€™s not to love!!

Hiriketiya Beach is the spectacular 'hidden gem' on the south coast of Sri Lanka. This hidden beach became famous a few years ago. Hiriketiya Bay is a trendy surf area with more places to eat and endless waves to surf.
