This was a five star hotel before COVID hits now it’s neglected colonial style house that trying to stay afloat as a business. We were there for two days in rainy season last month. from the lobby to rooms small puddle were created by leaking roof. staff was ignorant at best only one who that cared was a fifteen year veteran Mr.Nissanka . Other employees were untrained and do not care about guests or hospitality . Food was absolutely horrible and always late it was like cooked by an apprentice . It took them two hours to figure out how to print a bill so we can pay and get the hell out and never come back. It’s a shame to see such a wonderful historical land mark is being let to disrepair by cooperate greed and incompetence management.

Tamarind hill has a very vintage vibe. I loved the atmosphere and the rooms are also very vintage themed. They have a spacious garden to hold beautiful garden weddings. Their service is also really good. I had rice and curry here and it was delicious!

Tamarind Hill is a true gem. Nestled in the lush greenery, the stay is quiet yet comfortable. The combination of the 200 years old historical building, the well-maintained swimming pool and the incredibly friendly staff made it the highlight of our trip so far. All aspects of the stay were very well taken care of. For meals, we even sat in different settings throughout the hotel. The attention to details is truly impeccable. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a stay in Galle. Kudos to the Tamarind team

Bad location, too much out of town and shopping areas. Service is shoddy, no one with hospitality training at hotel. No one at front desk, only staff and cooks seem to be running the place. No hot water in bathroom, no sugar in coffee/tea stand, old dirty looking towels, mosquitoes inside bedroom. We had asked for a packed breakfast as we had to catch the 6.30 boat for whale watching at Mirissa. There was no one to even inform that we will not get the packed breakfast. On return, we asked why we didn't get the breakfast, they said the chef got delayed. Totally lying, we were waiting from 5.30 till 5.55 AM for someone to come and inform us the status. Almost missed our whale watching on this.. would seriously evaluate the five star rating of this hotel, it doesn't deserve a one star.

Choosing Tamarind Hill for our family's wedding was a decision filled with excitement and high expectations. The venue's colonial charm and secluded ambiance provided the ideal setting for our special day. The staff, with their warm hospitality, added to the overall charm. However, it's worth mentioning that the property's maintenance, overseen by Asia Leisure, could use a bit more attention. Our journey was not without its share of challenges, but it was during these moments that the true character of the Tamarind Hill team shone through. The picturesque location was complemented by impeccable service, and the culinary offerings exceeded our expectations, delighting all our guests. A significant twist occurred when the services of *Weddings by Focal*, the chosen event company, fell short. The owner's abrupt departure, realizing critical errors in arrangements, including a shortage of chairs and tables, left us in a tight spot. It was in this critical juncture that Mr. Bandar, a member of the Tamarind Hill team, stepped up to the plate. Despite it not being his responsibility, he went above and beyond to help us navigate the unexpected hurdles, ensuring the celebration continued smoothly.displaying a level of commitment and kindness His timely intervention transformed what could have been a disaster into a celebration. The staff at Tamarind Hill, especially Mr. Bandar, demonstrated not just professionalism but genuine care for our well-being. While the property might need some extra attention in terms of maintenance, the exceptional efforts of the team, particularly during unexpected challenges, define the true spirit of hospitality at Tamarind Hill. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the entire staff and, in particular, to Mr. Bandar, for turning what could have been a stressful experience into a celebration we'll cherish always.

The property is amazing and its so beautiful but the service is bellow any expectations, for 170$ room, you have to get better service actually, but we came and there was water leak from aircon on the floor and bed, and water leak from the ceiling and they didnt come to clean in 4 hours and the remote control was not working and they didnt care, my gf booked herself but she asked them that im joining and they said ok, the other day they charged us 40$ more and even we didnt get our breakfast bcz it was after 10 am so i asked them is it fair that you say one or two is the same price and they said no its not fair but they still got the 40$ which is crazy service. Dont recommend

We enjoyed a weekend here and it was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were large, clean and the details were just right. But what really elevated our experience was the food and the staff. Every item of every meal was fantastic - from taste to texture to pairing. And the staff were extremely, polite, attentive yet non-intrusive. Truly a stay with zero complaints.

The place was amazing! We conducted a video shoot and it proved to be a great location for it. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, making the experience even better. The food was delicious with a wide variety to choose from. Additionally, the hotel's proximity to the beach allowed us to capture some stunning beach footage for the video. The hotel had plenty of picturesque spots that worked perfectly for the video. We also stayed overnight in the spacious rooms. My own room was so large it could have been mistaken for a small house. 5 stars for sure. Thanks fromTeam WIS

So welcoming and friendly. We had the full board so breakfast lunch dinner and the occasional coffee or tea either by the pool or in the relaxing lounge areas were beautifully presented. Such care and attention paid to everything.

An absolute dump that takes no pride in their surroundings sadly. There is an actual dumpster right outside the hotel. Unfortunately we’ve tried to engage with the staff about resolving this together as a community. They’ve ignored us or insulted us when we’ve tried to speak to them. That dump has been there for 5+ years. The management are disrespectful, rude and aggressive. It surprises me no reviews mention this dump that have all types of animals wading through it literally on their doorstep. In the managers own words “I don’t care how they get rid of it” all we asked was to partner with us to manage it responsibly. The hotel is like a ghost town for obvious reasons but they have locals constantly adding reviews to boost their ratings which are not legitimate. If you want a disease ridden dump stay here - if not, stay well away.

Located less than a 10-minute drive from Galle fort, this hotel boasts tranquil and beautiful surroundings. The spacious and comfortable rooms provide a calming and relaxing atmosphere. For groups larger than 20 people, a buffet is available which is generally good but could benefit from more variety. The hotel also features a clean swimming pool and a beautiful courtyard. Guests may even catch a glimpse of peacocks wandering around the hotel. As a group, we received good service and the staff went out of their way to assist us and ensure our stay was pleasant and comfortable.

Tamarind hill is a beautiful Victorian boutique place 5 mins from galle fort. What works: It’s a beautiful and calm place giving you the perfect idyllic holiday, rooms have their own courtyard and it’s green all the way. Their pool is spectacularly located, super clean, beds perfect and all that you would hope for. Food is very nice, so try their tamarind ice tea! Staff is super friendly and helped us rent a 2 wheeler, book our whale watching tour and much more. We really did feel at home with them. What doesn’t work: The biggest issue is that it is running on next to zero occupancy rates, and hence not doing well. All 3 nights, we were the only people in the property, while it was alright during the day, in the evenings and when we could come back from dinner it would make us feel uncomfortable, since most lights would not be on, or really dimmed. I do not blame the staff one bit for this, I don’t know how they could’ve done anything else especially with the inflation SL is facing. I wish the management takes it upon itself to revive this beautiful property. Since it’s not beach facing, it might be losing out on customers, probably lowering the prices initially might help. Owing to this few repairs are overdue, but again I wouldn’t complain on anything else. It’s great for folks seeking complete privacy. I wish to return here again with a few more folks :)

The venue is undoubtly beautifull. The location not that much. Still looking for the « hill ». In the middle of nothing and far enough from the city te be annoying. Rooms smelled intensely from camphor. Service and cuisine wont be remembered. Core business is clearly big parties and weddings and not so much individual travellers.

Don't recommend this place while the property is beautiful the rooms are poorly maintained with torn curtains and mold in bathrooms. The hot water didn't work which was very inconvenient. They should not call themselves a luxury hotel.

DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! We made our reservation for this hotel months in advance. One month before our flight we got a message that they were fully booked while we were already sending messages with them for organising an airport transfer. After that we didn't even get an answer or explanation for this. Very unacceptable and not professional.

Don't use their Airport Shuttle. 110 usd ripoff! Bar was closed, but they offered to "buy beer" for us, it was a 10 usd ripoff. Hotel itself is good. Other services are questionable.

This is one of the best few places we've been to in a while. The staff, the service and the Food were amazing here. Such good mannered staff and delicious food. They had a set menu. The only negative point was that their portions were so small. (😫😞). Nice pool but you need to beware of the monkeys. Great atmosphere. Ohhh one thing I shouldn't miss, their welcome drink - Tamarind Juice was absolutely yummy. ( it's anyways one of my personal favourites) The rooms were great and they had some local made, lovely shampoo, conditioner and body lotions. Everyone should try this place out. Kudos to all the good work.

Nice place and friendly staff but not happy with the meal that they serve except breakfast.I had been telling them that I’m a vegetarian but they mistakenly served non veg meal ☹️ for dinner. They don’t even have a panadol ( no first aid ).overall okay 👍🏼

It was a great experience for full board. The staff was very helpful. food were excellent. Nice and calm environment. able to stay more than 20 people. Followed covid-19 protocols. Rooms were large and clean. service fine. Good for photo shoots. Its better if there any lights working near the pool at the night.

An exceptionally lovely spot in an old Dutch architectural style. The rooms are big and come with a small private patio. The staff are helpful and the Sri Lankan food is excellent. Not too convenient for a beach but the pool and gardens are quiet and beautiful.

This hotel falls under small boutique luxury hotels and this one is a 5 star. Loved the ambiance and the food. We stayed at the Admiral suite which was very spacious and had a great time staying there. We will definitely go back. Highly recommended.

We had such a great time here at Tamarind Hill. The staff here went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The food was amazing, the set menu dinner and breakfast was very well curated. We stayed at the Admiral Suite, their best room, and it was massive. the fact that a governor used to reside here was evident. Being a 250 year old villa, the rooms are pretty old, and rustic, as one would expect. But we loved the whole colonial architecture. That being said, the property needs a little more up keep. They could also tweak the experience by giving a tour of the villa and sharing stories of the past.

We got the Admiral suite and that room is the largest we've ever been up to now! Staff is really friendly and the manager, tried to give the best experience for us! Even arranged a small union for our friends😍 Must visit place! The place is Wonder and no words to describe the greateness!
