On our way to Nuwara Eliya, we took a pit stop at the view point of Ramboda Falls. My word, the falls seem to look like a pearl and emit a beam of light amidst the dazzling weather. Spectacular view even though we were quite far away from the actual waterfall rippling through the mountains. Nature and its magic personified.

One of the best Waterfall which you should not miss on the way to Hill country. You gotta climb up around 20 minutes to see the real fall which is breathtaking. There are proper concrete steps with side rails to hold on. Plan your trip with spending at least 2 hours for Ramboda waterfall. Park at your own risk on the road.

At this very moment I am thinking of booking Shri Lanka for our holiday. This place was on our list to visit. Until I did a little research. apparently the name of this place and what happens is misleading. It is run as a tourist trap under the guise of conservation, but the poor elephants pay the price for this, a lifetime of servitude and torment. apparently no elephant would willingly do the things they are made to do and they all go through a disgusting practice of being "broken" some elephants here are chained for months on end they are prodded with spikes to force them to do what they are instructed. Even the bathing session I have learned that they are chained in the river for that photo shoot everyone wants. Its a disgusting spectacle. None of these animals are ever released and some are sold off to temples for people to ride them. If you have any humanity or love in your heart for these magnificent noble creatures do not continue the misery for them by helping this place to continue to treat elephants this way.

One of the most attractive waterfalls in the hill country. Need entry ticket to enter the spot. Entry ticket - Rs.20.00 (Srilankan citizens) Have to got to the top of mountain along the steps. While climbing through those steps you have to take care about slipping. This hiking experience is also very interesting. You can take bath within safe limits.

The falls were beautiful and we thoroughly the amazing mist around the falls as we were approaching it. The access is through a hotel and the lift is chargeable although it is only a 15min walk to the falls. On the day of our visit the place was swarming with wedding photo shoots and was suoer lively with a lot of water probably due to the heavy rainfall earlier that day. Definitely visit when you are in the vicinity.

We had a really wonderful walk up to Ramboda Falls. We passed through Ramboda Tunnel and eventually finished up the viewing point where we could see at least five waterfalls off in the distance. If you are going to the Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden and this is a must stop place especially for the views from the platform.

To access the pathway leading down a steep hill and staircase, you'll need to purchase a ticket at the hotel counter, priced at 100 LKR per adult. Please be aware that this route is not suitable for elderly individuals with knee problems or those using wheelchairs. The hotel takes good care of maintaining the pathway, and if you wish, you can enjoy a meal or drinks at the picturesque open restaurant during your visit.

It's a waterfall in the middle of the road. One can easily see it from the main road or go to ramboda resort pay 200 bucks for using their elevator and go to the basement from where you can walk upto the falls. There is a view point just next to the falls which offers a stunning view. Be careful of as the track is slippery and you also get wet because of heavy winds. But the view is surely worth the effort.☺️🤗

Situated in the Ramboda area of Nuwara Eliya district, Ramboda falls is another popular waterfall in Sri Lanka. Though it is not a well-known fact, Ramboda falls consists of 3 parts called Ihala Ramboda Oya Ella (Upper Ramboda Oya Fall), Ramboda Oya Meda Ella (Middle Fall), and Pahala Ramboda Oya Ella ( Lower Ramboda Oya Falls) Ramboda oya, which flows majestically through Ramboda valley creates this beautiful trilogy of waterfalls within the perimeter of a few kilometers, closer to Colombo – Kandy – Nuwara Eliya main road. The first and the most famous one, the Upper Ramboda Oya Fall is situated about 1.5kms away from the main road and if you stop at Tea Bush Hotel in Ramboda (where you can also get a good view of Puna Oya Ella Falls), you can get a glimpse of the upper part of this fall. To reach this waterfall, you need to take the footpath starting near the Middle fall, which is just next to the main road. The uphill climb to see this 12m tall beauty is an enjoyable hike and steps are in place in the path until you reach there.

There's a small hike to reach the falls and they charge LKR 200 per person (rate as of Nov 2023) which is worth it. The view point above the flight of stairs that leads to the falls but no one goes to is also recommended to see the beauty of the falls. The pic I have posted is of a section of the trail that leads to the falls. Was busy clicking pics on my digital camera that I forgot to click any on my phone.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ramboda Falls in Sri Lanka, and I must say, it was an experience that left me in awe. The journey began with a pleasant surprise - no waiting at the entrance, thanks to choosing a weekday for my visit. As I approached the falls, the sound of rushing water grew louder, building up the excitement. What struck me immediately was the sheer beauty of the surroundings. The cascading water, framed by lush greenery, created a mesmerizing scene that felt straight out of a postcard. The falls were not lacking in visitors, even on a weekday, yet the atmosphere remained vibrant and lively. Must visit waterfall in Sri Lanka. The path was not so much hard to walk through.

Take the main road route it's more scenic and amazing it gives you ghat section feels. The access is through a hotel and the lift is chargeable although it is only a 15min walk to the falls. Monsoon period is the best time to visit be safe and don't throw trash everywhere .I'd definitely recommend for a small hike be careful while hiking use shoes and beware of the insects. Totally nice place.

Pinnawala has the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. All are good, better you can come at the elephants bath time ^^, the only thing is the ticket for foreigner is quite expensive 3000 R.s. almost 16 USD

Nicest waterfall we saw in Sri Lanka! Don't stick to the view from the road, pay the 100 rupees fee and hike up to the top (20 minute hike). The view from up here is wonderful. Some people were swimming in the lower pool too.

The uphill climb to see this 12m tall beauty is an enjoyable hike and steps are in place in the path until you reach there. The second part, the Middle fall is situated right after the Ramboda tunnel and is 6m in height. This is a popular bathing spot for travelers. You can see the topmost part of the upper fall from the bridge if you look well. The last one, Lower Ramboda Oya Falls is situated around 500m below the middle fall and is not visible to the main road. The water body crosses the main road and goes further downhill to create this 15m beautiful waterfall. The best place to observe this beauty is from Ramboda Falls Hotel. The restaurant of the hotel offers the best view and you can zip a hot cup of tea watching this magnificent site. There is also a footpath to reach the base of the fall from the hotel. Ramboda is a beautiful destination with many waterfalls and a beautiful view extending towards Kotmale valley, having Kotmale Reservoir and Mahaweli Maha Seya in the backdrop. On your next travel, make a stop at Ramboda, and don’t forget to visit all three of these waterfalls, adding them to your checklist.

Ramboda water fall is a beautiful water fall located in side of Nuwara Eliya - Kandy main road. Unfortunately, to see this natural treasure you have to enter in to the private property of Ramboda Falls Hotel with their consent. There is no close view of this beautiful water fall without entering to the hotel. The hotel located in right after ther Ramboda tunnel from nuwara eliya side.

Visited here in September where there was heavy rains, the fall was amazing to look at at the top of the mini hike, you have to pay about rs.20 to enter the fall. And there was a staircase built to reach the top of the fall. Water is falling from left and right and the view was amazing. Worth the mini hike. We didn’t bath here cause the level water was higher than usual cause of rain.

Rivers, as they flow over uneven ground or down mountains, often split into tributaries or form waterfalls. Sometimes two tributaries of the same river may form twin waterfalls very close to each other as the water spills down cliffs and rocks. However, it is quite uncommon for the tributaries to combine after forming the waterfalls making a Y shape. This unique and beautiful sight can be seen at the Pussellawa area of Nuwara Eliya, at the Ramboda Pass. The Ramboda Falls in Sri Lanka or Ramboda Ella or Puna Ella as these falls are called is created from Puna Oya, a tributary of Kothmale Oya. It makes a twin with Dunsinane Falls which is created by Pundalu Oya, also a tributary of Kothmale River, and combines at the base to form a Y shape. Ramboda Falls is 109 m (358 ft) high and 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 729th highest waterfall in the world. It is situated in Pussellawa area, on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass. It formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya. Altitude of the falls is 945 m (3,100 ft) above sea level.

I was initially worried about going to this place. A lot of reports talk about the elephants being chained up which seriously could prevent any form of enjoyment. We did not actually go into the actual orphanage but merely paid (the full admission price) and watched them crossing the road and bathing at the bottom. Yes, the bull elephants were chained I guess for their and my safety. These were big animals that you would not wish to charge you. The younger and better behaved marched down the road and seemed well looked after and showed no discomfort that I could see. Ok far better that they are free totally in the wild and this would really be the way I would like to see them. They seemed to enjoy their trip and bathe and we did not see any rough handling by any of the Mahoots . All in all a wonderful morning.

Peradeniya Gardens is a spacious 147 acre of natural extravaganza consisting of more than 4000 species of plants, and 10,000 varied kinds of trees, incidentally serves as the largest garden in Sri Lanka and is one of the best places to visit in Sri Lanka. The unique and rarest collection in these gardens is the Giant Bamboo of Burma which grows 12 inches each day to a height of 40 meters. Apart from this other amazing collections include Javan fig tree, Cannonball tree, Double Coconut Palm and about 200 other varieties of palm trees and versatile collection of flora. Highlight: One can pack some food to enjoy an open-air picnic here or can relish the cafeteria inside serving local and western cuisine. The Peradeniya Botanical Garden is one prime tourist attraction of hill country and remains quite flooded with tourists every weekend. Timings: Opened daily from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM

We took a tuktuk from the main road, for 2500 rupees with return. The road there was very bad, mostly stones, tuktuk wasn't the best choice to do so, but after arriving the driver showed us secret spot on the top of the waterfalls with natural pool, where we were all alone! We decided not to take the return way with tuktuk, but instead hiked down to the village of Ramboda. It is possible via stairs visible from the top of the waterfalls and also from the observation deck.

You can see the water from the road, but you have to climb up to see the Waterfall. Only 50 rupee tickets for locals You can see the beauty of the waterfall while you are climbing the stairs. You can either climb up to the top or stop a few more steps below the top and climb down the other side to see the bottom view. When we visited, the water flow was very good and it's a treat for your heart and soul!😍😇

I travelled with my husband and family many times whenever we travel to Nuwara Eliya during our vacation. Ramboda is a beautiful destination with many waterfalls and a beautiful view extending towards Kotmale valley, having Kotmale Reservoir and Mahaweli Maha Seya. Ramboda Falls is situated in Pussellawa in the Nuwara Eliya district. It is 109 meters high and is the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and is definitely worth seeing. For those who love nature and wouldn’t mind a trek, there’s a 2 km trail uphill that leads to this amazing site. If you are a bird watcher, making your way to the waterfall offers so many opportunities to spot a few rare birds in the trees chirping away at their merry song. If you are ready for some adventure, put on your hiking shoes and set off on an awe-inspiring journey.

An entry fee of LKR 500 is required, which is acceptable, after all there must be a staircase over 120 meters high. In any case, at the fork that tempts you to turn right towards the water, go up to the end of the stairs - it takes less than 5 minutes - there is a viewing platform with a perfect view of the waterfall.

Ramboda ella falls is an amazing waterfall located in the Pussallawa area. There are two access paths to the waterfall, one is located to the upper side of the waterfall. There is a wooden attic near the waterfall. You have to climb down to the view point through the tea state. The road is not good and can't get closer look at the waterfall. The second path is located on the Nuwara Eliya - Gampola road near the Ramboda tunnel. Need to get a ticket and there's a small hike to the waterfall. Can get much better and closer look than the upper view point. Anyway people say that the water level can get higher instantly. So bathing is a little bit risky. But there are many tourists near the waterfall every time. If you are going Nuwara Eliya to Gampola through the Kothmale Ramboda Ella falls is an amazing waterfall situated close to the road. Take your time and enjoy. Stay safe.

Ramboda oya, which flows majestically through Ramboda valley creates this beautiful three waterfalls within few kilometers. The fall is 109 meters high and is the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. To reach this waterfall, you need to take the foot path starting near the Middle fall, which is just next to the main road. The waters of the stream finally enter into Kotmale Oya in the Mahaweli catchment area. Only 20 rupees for a local adult. A cool, mind relaxing place.

The center, certainly useful for the community (these beasts would otherwise be dangerous for the rural villages and probably also for themselves), has good spaces for the animals even if the impression is that they are prisoners rather than guests. Nice to see and photograph the bath in the river in a pack ... but this too seems a bit forced for the sole purpose of entertaining visitors. You’ll see elephants everywhere you go in Sri Lanka: working on a tea plantation, running wild in national parks, and leading the Esala Perahera parade in Kandy in all their bejewelled and sequined glory. Udawalawe National Park offers you one of your best chances of seeing elephants roaming free. Created to protect the watershed of the enormous Udawalawe Reservoir, this park is home to around 400 pachyderms and has extensive stretches of grassland as well as scrub jungle and riverine forest. It is one of the best places to go birdwatching in Sri Lanka too. Gal Oya National Park receives fewer visitors than many of the other parks and also offers a unique experience. Here, the elephants commonly swim across Senanayake Samudra lake - Sri Lanka's largest body of water - and you can take a boat safari to see them. And to see the world's largest congregation of Asian elephants visit Kadulla or Minneriya NP in the dry season (June/July to September) when what is known as "the Gathering" takes place as hundreds of the pachyderms cluster around water.

Huge water fall 150 m above, there is entrance ticket and you need to walk a 800m from road . It will test your legs. Children below 10 can't walk it is too tough for them. On the way to falls you need to climb steep steps and rocks. It was difficult but can do. After reaching the falls all the stress and sweat will go away. Water falls are awesome.

It's a bit of a walk, a few hundred steps in total, which kind of wind towards the top, but there is plenty of shade on the route to stop and take breaks. But when you get to the top, it is well worth the slog, so persevere. It's 200LKR for foreigners FYI.
