Best national park in Nuwara Eliya area. Seems like a wet land. There is an entrance counter that you should buy tickets. It's cheap. They also give you an instruction sheet you to follow. There are rules and conditions. Because you enter a highly sensitive area. It was 180/= for both of us. Really good and very cheap. The eco system is amazing. More like a bird Park. Very beautiful scenery inside the forests. We could see some amazing birds and species inside the forests. So many mosquitoes there. Beware. Inside the forest that was a great place place to capture pictures if you are a wildlife lover. Paradise of wildlife photographers. I could capture some few shots. If you own a DSLR, damn you are Luckey. We could only see A moving deer. unlucky there. The best time to visit there is morning. Cause no rush the forest is fresh and so many advantages. We didn't see trash thanks to the people. A beautiful place to spend sometime to leave your stress. Very quite & calm area. I only heard the sounds of a forest. ❤ Parking is available for several vehicles. Actually plenty of space there. The people there are also friendly and realiable. 💯💯💯🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰

It's a totally hidden national park from tourists. When our visit here at the peak season for the nuwara eliya area (wasantha udanaya), literally no one here. This park is maintained by the Department of Wildlife Conservation. The staff of this park is very friendly and helpful 😀 Tickets will be issued at a small fee . About the national park 🏞 This park is famous for birds watching. A lot of endemic birds can be seen here . Best time to be here in the morning 🌄 . Forest is very peaceful and calming. Birds 🐦 singing everywhere. It's truly an amazing experience. Park needs a bit more maintenance, and otherwise, it's a must visit place for true nature lovers. But I have to say that this park isn't for everyone. Some people think this is a waste of time . So if you are a person who expects little leg work and more results 😉 with no patience, this might be unworthy for you. This is just a reminder 😌

Galways Land is a small National Park close to the hill resort of Nuwara Elliya. It's a bit difficult to find your way if you drive on your own. Use Google maps or similar to get their easily. The best times to visit are the morning and evening. There's no facility to park a large number of vehicles inside the gate. Hoy,roadside parking is possible. There are two trails to take which together add up to 2 km. It's mostly a gentle gradient with the exception of several steps in a few locations. One should take both trails. It is a pleasure to walk inside the forest that has some very tall trees. Several species of animals native to Sri Lanka are found here. These include bird species and Rhino horned lizard. Barking deer is also found. However, don't expect to see many animals here as it's difficult to spot them. . It was a delight to this beautiful and rare species.

If you love to walk, not only walking but walking in the rain, this is the place. May be it is seasonal but 1850m track is exceptional.

Nothing much to say if you don't go there at the correct time. We went there at 02.00pm. We were not able to see many birds or animals. We were lucky to see the An Katussa. But the 2km trail was very pleasant. You can't say you are 2kms away from a city. If you are a bird watcher better to be there around 06.00am. We heard the sounds But didn't see the birds. If you are in Nuwaraeliya it's worth to go there at least once

This national park is located within the city limits and there are a number of birds , butterflies and we were lucky enough to come across some deers as well. It has two trails and will take about 1 - 2 hrs for the whole journey. Its an easy path for anybody to walk through and very relaxing.

This is one of the best Wilderness I have being. It is located within the city limits of Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka, approximately 2 km (1 mi) east of the city centre. It was formally declared as a wildlife sanctuary on 27 May 1938. The Galway's Land was elevated to national park status on 18 May 2006. The park was declared to conserve.  Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka considers that Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya and Galway's Land are two of the most significant birding sites in Sri Lanka.Galway's Land harbours about 20 rare migrant bird species and 30 native species. Apart from the avifauna, the park has valuable floral species of both native and foreign origin. Galway Forest Lodge is located close to the park.

Such a nice and calm place. Best for birds and insects watching. Trail is about 2 km. But it has breathtaking view when it’s fully covered with mist. 🥺🕸

It's a national park situated within the city limits of Nuwraeliya. Famous park specially among the bird photographers to photograph some uncommon birds. But for me haven’t seen much other than the jungle fowl. Ticket price is like Rs 370 per head. It's a 2Km walk around the park & you don't see many people coming to the park. Good for a early morning walk.

Gallwaysland has been declared as a National Park in 2006 and has pathways which accounts for around 2-2.5 km. It is being administered by Department of Wildlife Conservation. You can see different species of endemic birds, butterflies, mammals etc. It is a nice getaway for family, where the whole distance could be covered in an hour. But to feel the essence of tall trees and tranquility in this forest, you have to walk slowly, while observing the surrounding. Not recommended to visit on rainy days, as the walking paths could become muddy & slippery. There is a small entrance fee of Rs. 43.20 (in January 2021).

We went to the national park with family, it’s very different to spot birds or wildlife inside but you can hear only some sounds of birds and frogs. It’s a good walking/hiking site of 1 hour through the jungle and has some nice views. Better go on a dry weather day and carry with you water and a stick through the way just in case. Do go with expectations of seeing birds or animals. I recommend for a stroll/hike within a jungle or the waste your last day of the holiday (1 hour) it’s a good experience.

We went around 7:30 am on a weekday and there was no other visitors. There are two trails but it was not clear where to turn for the shorter trail 1 so we did the full trail which was over 2 kms and at one point we were wondering if we were lost... We did not see any birds though we heard them. I guess real nature lovers / bird watches will have the patience to stay behind and spot them. However it was a very pleasant walk.. for us we have not hiked in such an environment so we liked it. Nice friendly staff. There are no real difficult areas to walk unless you are very old. We were cautious about leeches but non bit us (and we kept to the concrete paved path).

Outstanding experience. One of the easiest park to travel through the forest. Full of wild life and had a awesome forest hiking experience. Ticket prices are LKR.60 + VAT for adults and LKR.30 + VAT for kids (Both prices are for locals and prices for foreign tourists may vary).

A must visit place in Nuwara Eliya if you are a nature lover and need some fresh air in NE. Nice walk through under a thick forest. The trail is only 1850m. a lot of bio diversity can be experienced in the forest.

Horton Plains-like atmosphere can be found here. However, you hardly ever see butterflies or other animals. Just a little path through the park.

This is a hidden location in Nuwaraeliya. Located at Nuwaraeliya town, just 10 min drive. At the entrance, there is a office you can buy tickets and get instruction. The walking track is 1.8km where we can walk max 01hour. Birds are there. Very beautiful location.

This is the wildlife conservation park which situated nearest to a town, Nuwara Eliya. If you love nature and love bird watching you should visit this amazing place. Here you can easily find Sri Lanka yellow eared bulbul, Sri Lanka dull blue flycatcher. The trail is about 2 km long and better to come early morning if you want to observe birds. But sanitary facilities should be improved.

It's a great place to go for a quick trail near by Nuwaraeliya Town. Trail 1 is 850m, Trail 2 is 1000m. Total walk is around 2km. Lot of varieties of trees, plants, very rare to see animals but I was lucky to see 2 junglefowls.

It's a very beautiful small national park where you can spot some birds, wild chickens, and chipmunks. It's quiet and peaceful. There is not a lot of information, and a lot of signs while you are in the park, but if you just follow path you will make it out 😉 4 stars because for foreigners it's a bit expensive, 10usd+vat

Small national park located close to Nuwara Eliya town. Not much to explore. Just a walk thru park which is almost about 1.8Km in total. Calm environment with good habitat for birds. But haven't observed any special birds there. If you have any extra time in Nuwara Eliya, and have nothing to do at all, then you might visit the place.

You can watch birds and other animals while enjoying the woods when trekking the forest in the morning. it's  bit difficult to find your way here from nuwara eliya town if you drive on your own. Use Google maps or similar kind of map service to find the way easily. I think the  best time to visit here is in the morning or evening. There's no facility to park a large number of vehicles inside the vehicle park but roadside parking is possible. There are two trails to take which together add up to 3 km. there are no water sources inside the park , so grab something to drink before entering the forest.

Tried to come here for a short walk as it was near our hotel. They claimed the price for foreigners was 3000 rupees per person (for a 2 km walk!). I had to triple check as I could not quite believe they'd be so greedy, but the gentleman at the ticket office even showed me a printed piece of paper with the foreigner prices listed as that - claimed it was "government prices". As we started walking away, the price dropped to 2500 and then 2000, not sure where the government prices had gone. Save yourself the trip - some just want to take advantage of tourists.

Great place to visit when in nuwaraeliya for a green escape. It has a paved walking path and is an easy walk for anyone. It is known to be home to a number of indigenous bird species and migratory birds during Nov - March.

This park is a joke. Literally sarcasm while walking cz of the names of the birds made over the path but we saw nothing but a lizard.. it says it has natural water ponds near the trails but they are man made using cement. But to do a good walk around this is good.

A short distance walking path created within this beautiful National Park that gives joy to travellers. No words to express the love for nature. I visited this place with my friends, and it is a lifetime experience. Walking inside a green forest with tall trees, chilling climate, and a free and secure pathway.
