The fort’s only accessible beach a stone’s throw away from the light house teems with people on any given day but totally worth the inch of space for its views and historical context.

Galle Fort Beach is a great place to relax yourself. You can see the sunset from one side. It's very calm and serene in weekdays and busy during weekends. It's a great place to spend 0 and get the best out of it. It's safe for kids to have a Seabath around the dedicated area.

Not a good beach for swimming. Water it's too shallow, max 80 cm here. Also the ground is full of stones once you get into the water. May be ok for children playing on the beach. The place is not maintained, so there is thrash in the sand

Galle Fort Beach is situated bordering the Galle Fort. It is a popular beach where a lot of people come to bathe and to relax and have fun. It is an iconic beach having a historic background surrounding it. A set of stone steps built in the rampart leads to the Galle Fort Beach. The beach can also be viewed from top of the ramparts. It is an ideal location to take photographs with the beautiful ocean glistening in the background. The Galle Fort Beach is less crowded than the more prominent Unawatuna Beach. So it can be a great choice for a quiet swim all by yourself or with family and friends.
