We rent boards here, it’s a great place, the guys who work there are very nice. You can also take a clean rashguard for free to avoid getting burned in the sun. I also decided to take a lesson to get to a higher level, they helped me find mistakes and correct them.

Ahikawa is the best surf school on Dewata! They check the boards and lishes before renting them out. They always take care of the sports equipment. I've been training with Mali, he's a great trainer. He explains everything in great detail, how to hold the balance, how to turn, how to calculate the direction of the turn. After 7 lessons - half a year of surfing on my own on the whole south coast.

I took three surf lessons at this surf school when I stayed in Unawatuna. Both the waves at this beach as the instructors are very good for beginners. The very friendly and professional instructor, Malle, could assess my level very well at the beginning, and with his help, I improved on the surfboard with each lesson. In the last session, I stepped away from the beginner foam board, and surfed on a hard board for the first time! This wouldn't have been possible without his good observations and clear tips after each wave. Thank you very much, Malle, and I hope to come back again or surf in Arugam Bay!

We rented boards here for about 2 weeks - friendly staff and service. There was a small conflict, but the owner settled it. There are both soft and hard drives of different sizes. In most cases, the boards are good, but just in case, check their condition carefully before renting.

Myself, a colleague and 13 students (school trip) paid these guys a visit for a one off surfing lesson on our visit to Sri Lanka. I would 100% recommend them! The boys were all so friendly and great English speakers. They supported our students who had never surfed before and built on the skills of our already able surfers. Cannot rate the Ahikava surf school more highly. Malle and crew took my retreat guests for a surf lesson and made them to feel so excited and confident with their surfing. We decided to go back every day of our retreat and we’re always greeted with a big smile and a great attitude. Best surf school I’ve tried in Sri Lanka (and I have been to many!)

We had a really time with the instructors and would have gone back the next day to do more lessons. However, we both got really bad sunburn as they gave us suncream only for the face and a short T-Shirt to wear. Although we have put suncream everywhere ourselves. The impact from the surfing lesson has washed away the suncream. It would be better if they provide longer wetsuit or for hire so we do not get such bad sunburn that we could not do more lessons.

My first surfing experience was memorable thanks to the friendly staff. I enjoyed every bit. It was afforable too. I paid LKR 2000 for an hour's surf session including the instructor charges. The beach here is ideal for first timers and the more experienced alike. Would recommend.

The teachers are a bunch of chilled out guys that are both very friendly and helpful in the water. Food here is also pretty good! They make their own fresh aioli that goes perfectly some fish and salad. Their manager is easily contactable on WhatsApp.

Amazing location and beach for surfing. My 13yr and 11 yr old children have just spent 2 hours catching waves under excellent guidance from the school. Now enjoying really good smoothies. A new restaurant has also opened up with really tasty (and healthy) sandwiches ideal after surfing.

Amazing teachers! So patient and thorough and kind. Took great care of all three of us newbies in the water and really taught us ALL the important basics of surfing while guiding us through each wave. Highly recommend them. They also picked us up from the Jetwing Lighthouse hotel free of charge. A nice touch.

My most sincere recommendations for Malle. I stood on the board for the first time and went on the third try. Malle conveys information well and if you have questions about why it’s not working, he explains to you. Then you try and everything works out. Before this I was afraid that it wouldn’t work out, but everything worked out and I was very happy. If I were to be in Sri Lanka again, I would definitely go to Malle without hesitation.
