I had my 1st experience from this surfe school. Very familiar coaches and each person can get each coaches. He had very clear instructions, patient with us and he ensured we were doing it safely. I highly recommend this place to have you unforgettable surfing experience. I will definitely be back for more.

I recently had the pleasure of learning to surf at Dewata surf School, and I have to say, it was an amazing experience. As someone who had never surfed before, I was a bit nervous going into it, but our teacher Poo quickly put me at ease. Poo was an excellent teacher, patient and encouraging throughout the lesson. He was very knowledgeable about the ocean and surfing techniques, and gave us clear and concise instructions on how to catch and ride the waves. The location of Dewata surf School is also fantastic - the waves were perfect for beginners like myself, and the scenery was breathtaking. We spent a great day there, and I can't wait to come back and try my newly learned skills. Overall, I highly recommend Dewata surf School, and specifically Poo as a teacher. If you're looking for a fun and rewarding surfing experience, this is the place to go!

Very nice and friendly staff. The boards are good for beginners. The beach is perfect for beginners and to learn and also too have fun as a bit more advanced one.

I did lessons from Raja and will continue to go to this place as much as I can. He is super talented, professional, friendly and well knowledged about all the aspects of surfing. The other guys at the surf shop are very friendly and helpful. I saw people from different levels, novice to advanced, are learning from this place. Highly recommended 🏄

This was our first time surfing and we are very happy to have picked up Dewata surf school. Raja was helpful, he started with some basic tips and techniques before we started surfing in the water, which we found very helpful. He was very patient with us amateurs and spend us a lot of his time to help us learn. It was soo good, we went back for a level 2 lesson. We took our first surf lesson with Faees, and what a pleasure to discover this new activity. The teacher is very professional and takes the time to explain the positioning and what allows us to catch our first waves easily. The price is right and the atmosphere is pleasant, you can have a little drink at the end of the lesson. We loved it so much that we went back the next day. I recommend !

Great surf school. Friendly and professional instructors. I had a lot of fun, even though the sea was rough today. They have sun beds and a bar, so you can relax a bit after your session. I recommend taking lessons here!

Excellent surfing school and teachers! We took two lessons in Mirissa before and compared to what we experienced there, we got really great service here: - The teacher was nice, patient, spoke good English and was thus able to explain much more than just the basics - He was focused and always ready to tell what we did wrong and what to do differently and better next time - He was proactive, meaning that he gave us good advice even though we didn’t specifically ask for it - He created a pleasant atmosphere, so you had fun, even if you often failed :) We would totally recommend taking surf lesson here! P.S.: The price is apparently negotiable :).

It’s a very good place to start your surfing experience! Nice price, so friendly team and very cozy place. My coach Jun did everything to find the right approach. He listened to my wishes and now I can surf on the hardboard by myself. If you don’t like to surf you can chill in a very cozy shack cafe. But I highly recommend you to take a lesson in this school. This team is everything!

Dewata beach is the perfect spot for beginner surfers. Pu and his team took myself and my 5 year old out each morning for an hour surf lesson. Each day he pushed me to level up, starting on a huge soft board to a smaller one, switching to a hard board then a thinner smaller one. His confidence in me and enthusiasm made all the difference! My 5 year old was in great hands, with a friendly instructor who made sure she felt comfortable, safe in the bigger waves but mostly have fun. The huge grin on her face catching in waves and jumping to switch the front leg around for a bit of fun, said it all. It was reassuring they had someone knee-deep near to the beach to make sure she was ok once she fell off the board too. Highly recommend for kids and beginners!

I highly recommend this Surf school! I had lots of fun and laughs here. Kutty the instructor was very knowledgeable and explained things so simply to me. It was my first time surfing and he had me riding waves in only a few minutes. I look forward to visiting again!

Highly recommend this school. They have very professional teachers, especially Raja. Me and my daughter(7 years)had 5 lessons, and learned a lot. The most amazing part is that when you surf you experience so much satisfaction and fun and want to surf more and more. Raja is a good teacher, who provide technique and support as well. Thank you!

Nice surf school. Owner and coaches are not trying to cheat with prices and giving a good surf tips and discounts when U come day by day. All boards in good condition. Can relax in sofas, take shower and have excellent meal in Cafe. Highly recommend!!!

Our three kids (20, 19 and 16yrs old) took a first surf lesson at The Derwata Surf School, and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The two guides explained it on the beach and then joined them in the water. All three were standing up within 30 minutes. All that in a wonderful setting. Afterwards we had a drink in the relaxed bar, it was awesome! Thanks Dewata team!

We had a great experience with Dewata Surf School! They were very communicative for booking, and our lesson was fantastic. This was my first time surfing, but I learned a lot and felt very comfortable and relaxed the entire time.

We booked a surf lesson for my partner for one hour. The price for 1 hr was 25$ which is quite a lot in comparison to other surf schools at this beach! And the quality of the session didn’t fit to the high price. The teacher was a real good surfer - no question but his English was really hard to understand and as a client it didn’t felt that he was given the right hints due to the fact that we are already a step further then complete new beginners. The shack cafe itself is really nice and recommendable.

I surfed and had my first lesson here as well with the best and chilliest teacher, I am really glad that I met such nice and funny people. I continue to come until I have to go home and rent boards. A board is 500 lkr per hour and lesson is 3000. Thank you for making my experience in Sri Lanka so much nicer. ❤️ Sunset from the beach.

The guys at the surf school are really nice. They make you feel confident since the first minute. You can really learn how to surf there. They can teach beginners and also improve the skills of those who already know a bit. They tell you your mistakes so you can correct them everytime. Perfect classes for the perfect price, very cheap. The place is also very nice, not a lot of tourist in Dewata so perfect for surfing. Definetly, my favorite place in my favorite beach.

It's a good time for locals to get the maximum benefits now. Since no any foreigners we can get good surfing lesson at reasonable price.

Great Experience....

Although I am 60 and this was my first attempt, I was able to surf gentle waves during my first lesson under Roger's tuition. But you will probably need another lesson as there is much learn - all good fun and Roger knows his stuff and will show you how to improve your technique. The Shack Cafe has reasonably priced quality food and drinks. Well worth a visit.

It's was a quite an experience 😍 Instructors were really good and experienced. I could balance on the board within 30 minutes of practice.

Just had one hour and half lesson from Fiyas at Dewata surf school and I can already stand and balance on my own! Absolutely amazing customer service and friendliness. Going to come here until I get to the pro board for sure. Would hundred percent recommend them for beginners as they are not looking purely for money but the passion to train new people♥️

I took several surf lessons with the super instructor Poo, I really looked forward to each surf session and I liked that I changed several levels of surfboards. Nice friendly people work at the school, they have a facility with sunbeds, a shower, and after surfing you can have a drink or an excellent meal right next door at the beach bar.
