One of the beautiful beach. Really we enjoyed with the kids. Best place for family. No deep beach side. Very clean. There is many parking place before you enter check the exact natural pool available in which parking. We paid 2000 rupees for bus parking and including 23 people for taking shower after Sea bath. You can negotiate with the person who's in charge about the charges.

One of the best short trips you can make in Galle. Apart from the man made rectangular shaped pools (limestone mining) there's a lovely beach with an awesome view. There are at least 30 holes on the coral reef in various sizes. There's a safe, shallow swimming water pocket nearby. Beware of sea urchins. Make sure that when you go outside those holes and stepping on them. Their stings can be quite painful and hard to remove. It's usually a busy place. My advice is to avoid the weekends which can be quite crowded. There's no entry fee to this place for both locals and foreigners. But they charge an absurd amount of LKR 300 for parking (for a car) and also LKR 100 for a freshwater bath. There are few tire swings nearby and they charge like LKR 100 for that thing.

A clean and serene spot with unique features like stilt fishery and rock pools. Stilt fishing poles offer great photo opportunities, and the rock pools, crafted from corals 50 years ago, provide a unique bathing experience. These pools have a fascinating history, having been used to soak coconut husks for separating coconut coir. Best visited in the early morning from March to April, the pools may be filled with sand at other times. The area supports small-scale fishery (including octopus fishing) and there's a stunning algal bed with diverse species. Convenient parking is available.

An awesome place to relax in a natural pool. Cloth changing, showering, and parking facilities are available for a charge. You can even give your backpacks for safekeeping to them.

Such a beautiful place. There are pools with full of variety of fish and clear water. Evening pool bath with a beer will be a such a good experience. There is a vehicle park as well. Beware of ikiri fish. There are too many of that kind of fish in the holes. If you are visiting Thalpe bring your swimming suit.

Fun and lively beach. Can get busy during weekends. There are natural pools to dive in. Safe place to bath when the tides are not very strong. Be careful when the tides are strong. You many get cuts from the rocks or may slip on the rocks. Care must be taken. Parking and fresh water showers available in multiple spots along the beach. The place we parked charged Rs 300 for a van and Rs 100 per person for a shower.

Thalpe beach is unique, harnessing naturally formed bathing pools. You may see several colorful small fish and tiny πŸ¦€β€™s as well within each pool which I find interesting. Caution.. you may experience slight cuts on your feet 🦢

Beautiful beach a short walk from the bus station down a narrow pathway. It is very local but everyone seemed very welcoming. The stilts where the fishermen sit where there but the fishermen were not. We don’t know what time of day/week they are usually there but the beach was still gorgeous! Water felt perfect. Highly recommend.

My visit to Thalpe Beach left me in awe of its natural pools. However, do be aware that there's an entry fee, so it's a good idea to check the prices before you go. On weekends and holidays, it can get quite crowded, so plan accordingly for a serene experience.

An amazing place to spend the day with your loved ones. This location is a few kilometers away from the famous Thalpe beach. Make sure not to pollute the place with your waste. Already saw plastic and face masks on the beach.

Thalpe Beach is truly a gem and a popular tourism attraction. What sets it apart is the naturally formed bathing pools that offer a unique and captivating experience. These pools reveal colorful small fish and tiny crabs, making it fascinating for visitors (no dangers involved, just watch your step). While it can get a bit crowded on weekends, the best time to enjoy the calm waves and serene environment is in the early morning. The slight cuts on your feet are a minor concern compared to the beauty and tranquility of Thalpe Beach. πŸ–οΈπŸŒŠπŸŒž

Just another scam to fool the tourists! The place doesn't looks like the pictures used for its advertising and promotion. It is not a seashore, just a small area constructed with a high porch for parking near the shoreline, where you have to pay 200LKR just to see some local people catching crabs and small fish inside those holes. Also the holes are not like small pools at all. The inside is not safe to sit and might hurt when the water comes with force. It is pretty risky. Not at all worth visiting. Plz save your 200 bucks and the effort of going there.

One of the beautiful beach situated in matara. Its very safety to all to bathe. But the waves makes much difficulties, be aware of the waves while in the holes. Parking fees will be like 50 rs for bike and for normal water washing is there, its like 50 rs and for dressing there is a room.

Natural pools and a swing to enjoy the day at Thalpe beach. Many areas to park any type of vehicle. Good security for parked vehicles as well. Many places to shower with fresh water.

Bit sandy due to current tide waves . Safe area for your packages and vehicles. There are water facilities for shower after salt bath. You can come from train and get down from thalpe station. 1 km to walk. Safe to children .

Thalpe Beach is an exciting place where we can have a sea bath safely. I think it is better if someone can visit it early in the morning. There are 2 car parks which provide changing rooms and water shower facilities too. But those are expensive and those rooms are not clean.

This is really a beautiful place with a clean and clear sea water but be wary of sharp stones and ikiriyo (Sea Urchins) when do sea bathing. Be aware of severe tides as well. There are two parking lots with tap water and changing rooms, however I don't think charging fees are reasonable and the changing places are not clean at all.

An amazing beach with natural pool with bluish water. It is ideal place for sea bathing. No risk at all. Need to park at our own risk and if we park in private land it will cost too much.

Well, the beach was pretty crowded when we went on a Monday. There are β€œboxes” which are little pools made naturally inside a rocky landscape few meteres in front of the beach. You could cave into it and relax. I recommend negotiating for parking the first thing, since we parked for around 30mins and they asked 400LKR, even thought we didn’t get into water. Overall, nice place to sit back and relax , if it ain’t much crowded:) .

Beach with the natural pool, had a different experience in thalpe beach.. be more vigilant with the black sea urchins (spicky) very dangerous will be sitting on each edge. It's a no Drone zone area, restricted to fly cuz of the koggala airport which is situated in a close proximity. Be safe and enjoy the beach.

Must visit if u visit down south sri lanka. Very unique place. But avoid sea urchins. Dont try to swim beyond the reef. There are death reported due to currents. Pools are full of fish. Avoid visiting this place in april to september due to high tide. And specially evenings of those months.

Wanted to share these heavenly looking photos of the Thalpe beach (05.12.2023). Can say one of the safest places for a sea bath. We expected a rainy day but were lucky enough for a perfect sunny day. Bathing and parking facilities are available with reasonable prices as per these days but request to be mindful.
