We went to Amor villa on 1 night stay with 16 people group. We brought “marinated” chicken items from our end to ease the process to the chef. Later when we delivered the marinated chicken, the manager told that they can only operate bbq drill for steamed chicken. And also they told that’s the only to prepare the chicken. He said that the chef is an “expert” and not to argue. When we argue he said that he wanted 10K to perform the extra work. We had to agree, as we had no other options to consider at that moment with 6Kgs of raw chicken 🥲 After this argument we clearly stated that we are “dissatisfied” with this decision. The manager ( His name is Shamaka) then told that “whatever” that our situation is, he doesn’t care (he really said that 😅). So that’s the customer experience that we went through. The irony of the story is that, The “expert” chef of Shamaka prepared the worst BBQ experience we have ever had. I have attached “some” of the burnt food they’ve prepared. We had to arrange everything from bread to sausages. The only plus point is the staff and the owner. They are kind and helpful. And, yes. The manager is not the owner as we understood. You cannot play cricket in here though there’s a big fat garden. We will never recommend this place to anyone based on the Manager (Shamaka) s greed for money with terrible customer service.

Absolutely loved the location! The dutch styled villa is absolutely beautiful. All but one staff member were immensely courteous. Loved ease of access to the beach, pool side and Unawatuna town. Breakfast options are limited but quite satisfied with lunch variety.

Beautiful Villa with lots of history. Ravi was very kind and an excellent host during our stay. If you get a chance, ask the head chef to prepare you a meal and you will not be disappointed. Best Sri Lankan food I had during my entire stay! Will def come back again! 🏝️🇱🇰

A beautiful calming experience with family. Very old building, maintained in a beautiful way. Food was okay, home made style, wasn't anything unique. Pool is good and well maintained. Beach side is beautiful with rocks. Morning the waves are calm, evenings the waves are rough. The coordinators were very helpful and calm and answering our queries and also helped us do a mini birthday celebration. Overall a wonderful place for family get togethers.

The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms, and high quality service. When we walked into the hotel we were immediately given a warm welcome which was particularly nice after travelling so far. Our room was very comfortable, sanitised and spotless. The place was superb and the staff could not do enough for us. Food was very good and the choice was amazing. Special thanks to the Operations Manager: Shamaka Nuwan who assisted us in scheduling and organizing the stay and our party. We were able to relax and enjoy our tour thanks to his advice.

We had the best time ever! I found the hotel by walking by on the beach. I loved the palm garden with the pool straight away. We got the best room of the hotel which is No. 108 in our eyes. First we planed to stay 1 night...in the end we stayed 5. The view from room 108 is stunning. Having Tee or Coffee outside on the balcony with this paradise view and the sound of the ocean is priceless. If you spend time at Amor Villa don’t miss the food. We highly recommend the traditional SriLanka Curry. The whole staff is really lovely. The manager of the hotel looked after us like a brother und arranged many things for us. We can’t say Thank you enough. But again thank you so much for the great time we had at your house! We hope we can come back as soon as possible. Miri & Anne

Absolutely beautiful location, the restaurant was closed due to no chef. The room that was assigned to us had an issue with the AC we complained about it, come night time ac was not working, they gave us a new room which we were too intoxicated to move to. Should have been done in the first place, breakfast was good but delayed by 45 mins. They are running with minimum staff which is understandable, but for the price you pay we expect value.

You go there for the location. Absolutely stunning! The hotel is right on the beach and the swimming pool even overlooks it. It's gorgeous. The hotel itself is a little old and could do with some TLC. We had small problems in the room - like the hot water not being turned on straight away and the lightbulbs needing changing. They fixed it straight away but it would have been better if done in the first place. The real problem with the room was that the door didn't close from isnde which felt a bit unsafe considering anyone can access the hotel from the beach (no barrier). Staff is friendly. Maybe too friendly? The owner kept wanting to talk to use when we were relaxing by the pool. Breakfast average. Overall an alright stay but for the price we expected more.

Very impressed with this place. To start, the grandeur of the old Dutch build, beautifully maintained to preserve history. The room... you sleep / wake up to the sounds of the ocean you see from the large glass doors. Just gorgeous. Then there's the staff. Very very courteous and went out of their way to take care of us. Finally, the food. The chef made us perhaps the best Sri Lankan meal we had during our trip. Highly recommend this place.

😠 I visited the hotel 3 times. One is a family is trip. Other two are company trips. What I noticed during the trips was staff is not well--trained according to 5 star standards. Specially in co-operate events we could see less number of staff members to handle restaurant chaos. Not kid friendly. For...
