Stayed here for several nights and enjoyed my stay. The hosts and staff were very determined to help and provide answers when asked - this was made easy thanks to the level of English they spoke.

Its a very nice place near the beach. the rooms are clean and cosy. Host Sumi is very friendly. Enjoyed every spended minute there.

Good Place for taken Breakfast ,Lunch and Dinner

Everything was great! Good price/quality ratio. Right on the beach with sunbeds you can use for free. There is also surf school right in front of the hotel. Great food for fair prices. Friendly service.

Stayed here for 7 nights and the location was brilliant, it's literally right on the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable with mosquito net, 2 fans, a bar fridge and a big balcony but that's it no kettle etc., all very basic and during our stay the cleaning crew came by only once. I.would be hesitant to stay with children in the upper rooms as the balcony rails weren't high enough for safety. The food was decent but for vegetarians/vegans the options were super limited. Overall a really nice budget stay and we will go back.

Fantastic service and friendly staff. Good food and free sun beds

The best place we stayed on our 3 weeks long backpacktrip. Food was delicious (big portions!), staff friendly and the beach right in front is perfect for swimming and surffing. We had a standard double room and it was huge with its big balcony. Bed was comfy and bedlinen smelled good (something you really shouldn't take for granted). There is also 4 rooms which have terraces literally on the beach. How noisy it is in those? We don't know. The owner of the place is very nice. If you need something, he will fix it for you. For excample, we wanted to rent a scooter just for a one day and none of the rentalplaces wanted to rent us it only for a day. When we asked the owner, he got it for us in a 30 minutes. There is also a tiny fake pool which is made of sea water in front of the Hotel where children can play. Allthoug the place is good mid prised in the area, we enjoyed it a lot

Very nice place to visit and stay

I'm shocked how this hostel got 4.6 stars in reviews. First off, it gets affected by the general power cut 4 hours a day. Second, the manager barely gave us a room with AC and MAKE SURE YOU NEGOTIATE IF YOU STILL ARE DETERMINED TO BOOK. Third they don't accept card and charge everything with you even a cup of coffee. There are many good places in Hikkaduwa and you are not compelled to book this one.

Location is surely the hostel’s greatest advantage, lies just on the beach and you can use sun beds for free. However, the floor in the room was dirty. The staff were very nice though. For the price you pay, it’s a good deal

This hotel is good located for people who want to try surfing. There are a lot surfing schools nearby. Unfortunately this place was a little bit dirty. The bathrom was smell and there was nothing magical about breakfast.

we pleasantly stayed at the Universal in Narigama/Hikkaduwa, clean rooms, excellent food and always smiling staff, and very nice and helpful owners. highly recommended.
