Really disappointed. IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC THERE WAS NO SOCIAL DISTANCE AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED BY STAFF, NOT ONLY A BEHAVIOR AGAINST THE LAW BUT AGAINST THE COSTUMER HEALTH TOO. Attached a photo of all the staff without any personal protective equipment. We made a reservation with sea view but there was no table prepared and we ended in the opposite side of the terrace. The service was really terrible and bad mannered, the rosé we ordered was warm. Worst thing was the smell, I don't know why but all the people I was with agreed about the origin of the smell and I prefer to avoid to say it. As an Italian visiting his country I'm really ashamed by this place. The fish was ok.

Il Bastione restaurant is a romantic spot located in the old town of Gallipoli. To reach it is a bit complex as you must walk (or pay for the ZTL zone). The place is clean and quite, it faces the sea so at sunset it must be amazing. The staff is kind, but not everyone is prepared and careful to the clients need (for example, we asked to pour some more wine and the waiter walked away, or they proposed spirits that they didn’t have). The service is very slow, between the courses it passes more or less one hour 😂 but it’s typical of the south of Italy, you just need to enjoy the time chatting and looking at the landscape. The food is good, the tastes were intense and the fish was fresh. The menu is not vast, it is mostly based on fish and seafood, even though there is an option that is vegetarian. Concerning the price, it is a little high considering also the fact that the portions are not so big. I just have to add that the typical Spumone leccese was an ice cream with nocciola and cacao flavor, with some almonds; I tried better ones :) But the overall experience was quite good!

Terrible service, they kept rushing us so they could have the table back. When we asked for the wine list the waiter just told us the prices without even the names. Another waiter brought us the wine list after we had our wine on the table. They kept bringing our mains out before we’d finished our starters even though there was literally no room on the table. When we were ready for our mains it was clear they’d just microwaved them and brought them out (the plate was hot). The food was mediocre, the only saving grace were the views.

Really bad experience unfortunately. 1 damaged wine glass on the table 2 super slow service and sometimes unfriendly too, they keep forgetting what you ordered, even the bill - they did it for like 15 minutes 3 not the best food to be honest, really tasteless pasta with vongole, below average fish and fritto misto 4 not a single “sorry” from the staff Overall the place looks nice from the outside but not a pleasant experience at all, there are much better places in Gallipoli

During our four weeks in Puglia this summer we enjoyed a lot of high-quality fresh seafood. Il Bastione was a high point. The crudo we had for a starter was probably the freshest we have ever had. The catch of the day was also superb. The location is of course perfect, and we also appreciated the friendly and professional service. Well worth the price.

Came there for a glass of champagne or some similar drink, had only Prosecco, at first brought apperto then after few minutes took it away, though later included 9 euro for it in the bill. After I asked about this, they reduced the apperto price to 6 euro🤷🏼‍♀️ nice view, did not try much food, but the waiters were almost running around and trying to look so busy so that not to talk to anyone for more than few secs and this apperto thing was very confusing.

Great view. Bad food. Terrible service. The tuna was frozen and they got mad we complained about it. And then tried to charge us for it. Don’t go.

Beautiful location, amazing atmosphere and good food but the service was extremely disorganised. We have been served by 5 different waiters. It seemed they did not communicate to each other. We were asked 5 times if we wanted to drink or to pick something from the menu. We asked for the wine list and the waiter just gave us a choice of three wines based on price. Once we made our choice he came back with a Japanese wine! In Puglia!!!!We had to ask for the wine list. Throughout the dinner we have been rushed to eat and leave. I will definitively not be going back - there’s plenty of other restaurants with an amazing view in Gallipoli.

Had dinner since we stayed at the hotel across the street: > Food is average and not fresh, had seafood pasta and ended up with food poisoning. > place indoor is boring, outdoor seems to be nice (but too cold the day we went) > service, did the job but haven’t left any outstanding impression > overpriced, around 30% more expensive than comparable/better places around the corner.

A lovely setting and view but unfortunately that was as good as it got. Guests have to walk past a table containing the dirty plates off cleared tables to be seated. All of our food arrived at different times. Two of our group ordered fish and chips and were served small pieces of battered fish and potato crisps on a sheet of paper. The breeze immediately started blowing the crisps off the table... They really cannot justify serving this as restaurant food and what's more the crisps were stale! The staff as individuals seemed very nice but service was chaotic and tense with waiters getting angry with each other. Our most expensive meal in Gallipoli but unfortunately the worst.

The food was tasty and we had a good time. The staff speaks English very well and the communication was easy.

View from terrace is good. Food is good. Inside the restaurant dark (not as bright as expected from a place onlooking to and by the sea). Service is slow.

We dined here for a special occasion. If the weather is good enough to eat outside you can't beat the ambience, right on the water. The food is great and service exceptionally fast but prices are on the higher end.

The scenery and the place of the restaurant is stunning. The food was fine, it was good, but the prices were a little steep, and they lacked something special. Overall i can recommend if you are looking for a beautiful view, and adequate food, but if you are looking for good prices or top tier food, you can do better.

Wow wow we stopped for a night in Gallipoli and while we were walking we saw this Resturant and it looked that it serves good food and it was romantic we had raw fish that it was really great , pasta with frutti di mare and then we had king prawns and calamari to die for , and the home made dessert was perfect everything was excellent and the waiter that he helped us to choose was very kind , if I will return again to Gallipoli for sure I will visit again

The setting was beautiful, the food was average but the staff were very rushed and rude, no acknowledgement or thanks, just slammed the card on the table and walked away. Seems to be at least one waitperson per table but could never get help when needed without going up to the bar. They also put back used cutlery into the clean section and any bread not eaten was put into a new basket, without thought or hygiene concerns, ours had lots of flies on so we didn’t eat any and now very glad we didn’t. Very poor and odd to do that right in front of customers for such a luxury place

This Place Is in the old Town of Gallipoli where they serve you with lot of various fresh fish items. It Is One of the very good spot for dinner or lunch with your near and dear ones. If you want to impress your girlfriend/ finace/ wife or vice versa , you Will definitely impress them at 100%. It Is quite expensive ( roughly 90€ for dinner in two without dessert) but in terms of High quality, beautiful panoramic view of the Ocean of Gallipoli, you pay reasonable price i must say !
