The castle is located in the Old port of Gallipoli. It's in an amazing position just into the sea. The old town of Gallipoli is simply amazing. If you like you can visit it inside and have an immersion in ancient centuries. I definitely recommend a visit. Mid September / beginning of October it's the best period of the year. Blue sky, blue amazing sea and no more than 25 degrees and you can fully enjoy astonishing landscapes!

A lot of history and interesting facts. It has been beaitufully set up as museum. Alsonit offers incredible views of Gallipoli, especially at sunset. Well worth the visit for 1-2 hrs. Entry is 7euro.

I have no idea how they got this high rating (probably bought it). It's definitely the shortest museum I have ever been to! All thing takes about 25 minutes plus two short movies might be 35, but they charge 5€, no reduced options on the tickets. If you don't speak Italian expect bad translations, one of the texts is literally Google translate copy-paste that makes no sense. Many English texts are 1/5 of what is written in Italian. Best thing is that they have warning signs, some of them say steep stairs other "step stairs", so they can't even be consistently bad. Place is a total cash grab, hope they improve but highly doubt it.

Guardian of the port in ancient times, the castle is on an island connecting the historic old town with modern Gallipoli. The restored castle today is full of retail shops and social gathering places, although a self tour allows insight into its historic function. Fishing boats that work the Gulf of Tarento tie up to the marina below the castle, where fishermen can be seen repairing their nets. Outdoor restaurants nearby serve great seafood, and the island's historic homes, churches and narrow streets make this town a charming destination.

Very nice castle to visit in Gallipoli. The bigger internal towers are incredible. You have full view on the cost and you can learn more about the history of the place and also his relevance in the oil commerce. You can get an Audioguide, but you can also only listen to the audio panel installed in some rooms.

The city took me by surprise. The vastly entry ticket was realistic 5 EUR, the sandy beach with wall and see views great. The best experience was seeing everyone from 7 to 77 to enjoy the evening from 8.00 PM to midnight. Everyone was dining and vining. Restaurants played variety of music. Something for everyone. So warm, happy and lovely nation. I will be back. Trust me, for sure.

The Gallipoli Castle stands just aside the bridge to the old town. It's a 17 c structure built to control the harbor entrance. Castle is in a good shape and can be seen entirely walking the mainland side and from the bridge

Must visit castle! One of if not the best and informational castles we visited. Super affordable at 5€ and optional 3€ self guided tour. Not overly crowded with tourists and really cool underground areas.

Great activity to do with kids and learn about the history. On how the trade in europe was happening, seeing how people before were crafty to make candles/light.

Nice tour with artwork on display, and a history of Gallipoli and the castle. Relatively cheap tickets given what other castle entry tickets in Puglia cost.

Everything was good except for: not much attractions and tickets price. 5€ for one person it's too expensive for 1h trip, in my opinion perfect price would be 3.50€/4€

Really enjoyed the lamp exhibition that was on giving the history of the local olive oil to power lamps. The castle was also good to explore and gives wonderful views of the harbour and surrounding area.

Nice place to visit. Can have a walk into old town, located on an island. Mainly walk is arround it, there are cafes and restourants. Old buildings, nice beach available at the one place. Not much traffic on road, but must watch out of it. Places where to buy suvenirs. Must go in late afternoon better because of local siesta time...

👍👍 The fountain stands near the bridge adjacent to the castle, in the part that connects the old town with the new part of town. This fountain is famous, because for a long time it was thought to constitute the oldest fountain in Italy. Originally, it was thought that the fountain dated back to the thi...

👍👍 Management is simply great! Staff goes above and beyond to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable day on the beach. Cafeteria has gluten free options, local food, pre dinner drinks. You can order from the beach via their app and book a table in the shade for the hottest hours. From an Italian in London ;)
