(Translated by Google) It is located in a hidden corner of Lecce but easily accessible from Piazzetta Santa Chiara. Nestled among ancient buildings, it was discovered by chance in 1929 and only partially brought to light. The structure dates back to the Augustan era and testifies to the importance reached by the city.

Amazing amphitheater shockingly hidden from modernity until 1929.

(Translated by Google) An enchanted corner to visit and discover, hidden by a thousand alleys, sheltered from one of the hot spots of Lecce's life yet close. The theater has been re-evaluated for a few years and is often animated by pleasant and suggestive shows (Original) Un angolo incantato da visitare e scoprire, nascosto dai mille vicoletti, al riparo da uno dei punti caldi della vita leccese eppure vicino.

The square behind it is full of live- people, shops, restaurants, good food and live musicians. We even saw people dancing to the music of the street performers. The theater is not that impressing actually. I prefer the small street around the city with it ist architecture and hidden jems like the street on the third photo.

(Translated by Google) This beautiful theater, which cannot be compared as many do with the amphitheater, is preserved quite well to have been built around the S.I, in this Roman settlement known as Lupiae. It is believed that it would have capacity for about five thousand spectators. It was discovered in 1929, also by chance, during the works of the Arpe and Roman Palaces - today the headquarters of the theater museum. It can be visited for free at any time of the day. Day, afternoon and night; Well, like the amphitheater, it is not covered, but any pedestrian can stop to contemplate it. Although I advise doing it in daylight. In addition, behind this, is the museum, which retains remains of the theater.

This place is such a hidden gem in the city. Imagine you need to get through several alleyways to find this amphitheater. By the way, just a useless fact, there is a public bathroom near in alley where you can get a view of the theatre ^-^

It is nice that the theater is visible for the public. Unfortunately I could not find some info boads that help me to understand the history of this theater. There are some tours with reservations but we were here on Sunday so that we were not able to book. Btw, good to see it. It is not so far from other attractive places.

Do not pay to get to the "museum". There is absolutely nothing inside and you can see the theatre in the street. There are no mask inside, so the photo is deceitfull.

A bit disappointing to be honest, only €3 entry but really not sure it's even worth that. I thought the museum would give lots of information about the theatre itself but most of the museum seems dedicated to information about the Via Appia. These is a small room with more information dedicated to the theatre but most of the information is only in Italian. Also it is not possible to enter the theatre itself. There is a small street around the corner from the entrance to the theatre, where you can get good views of the theatre through the railings in the fence, so maybe save your €3 for coffee and pasticcioti! 😊

Beautifully preserved amphitheater with breathtaking views. The hotel next to it was reserved for Trump and crew while attending G-7 summit and lots of construction was going on.

Totally tourist trap! Small unorganized museum, with barely unreadable posters. Sales visit to the theater but you cannot go to the there, actually you can view the theater with more detail from the outside.

(Translated by Google) In the heart of the historic center of Lecce, in an alley a bit out of the way, there is the entrance to the museum of the Roman theater, the full ticket costs 3 euros and inside there are memorabilia found here, by accessing the basements you get to rooms that were once part of the structure of the theater so you finally go outside, right in the middle of the theater itself. Not to be missed!!
