Friendly fast service. Accepted minor modifications of our orders with grace. We ate a LOT of green chili peppers in our time in NM, Jerry's was no exception. Check out more about Gallup in our next post. Nomadic-serenity.com

This is our first time in New Mexico. Driving through to Tucson Arizona we decided to stay for two nights and Jerry’s was highly recommended. We went there at 630 pm on a Wednesday night and had a slight wait - we were glad to see it so full with so many places struggling these days! We were a family of 4 and had to wait about 15 minutes. If you were a couple you got in faster as there appeared to be more tables for 2 than 4. We did not mind the wait as we were able to talk to a few people who were waiting for their take out food. They all raved about the food and are there very often. They always say the best place to eat is where the locals do and they were right. After hearing from a few patrons how great the food was, what to order and some history on the Gallup area we were seated We had the following dishes; chicken enchiladas, chicken sandwich, Jerry’s stuffed Sopaipilla and chicken taquitos. The service was very fast once we were seated and it seemed like the food just kept coming out. Many staff members checked on us to ensure we did not need anything. Very friendly staff. We would highly recommend eating here even if there is a wait!

Flat enchiladas were available with an egg. Red and green sauces were both excellent. First chili relleno I've had for a long time where I could taste the egg. Sopaipilla was an added treat to finish off the meal. Excellent!

Yummy and authentic Mexican food with very friendly service! I didn’t dine in, but the hostess and waiter were very kind and informative. I had the beef taco and cheese enchilada and they were both very good. The restaurant is very casual and a great place to eat as you explore Gallup, New Mexico and Route 66!

The food was delicious, prices were very reasonable, the service was swift and courageous, the restaurant was very clean (even the restroom was spotless). I would recommend this place to friends and family. Next time we’re passing through, this is where we will eat.

I was treated to breakfast here. Located in historic downtown, Gallup. It's a small restaurant with limited seating. We were lucky to get a table without a wait. I was told sometimes there is a crowd lined up to get in. The menu is simple with a good selection of breakfast items to choose from. I asked the waitress for recommendations. She happily suggested a few. I decided to go with the stuffed sopapilla. Basically, fried bread filled with scramble eggs, hashbrowns, choice of meat topped with red or green sauce. I choose bacon and red sauce. This was a meal in itself. A hearty portion with just the right amount of filling. The red sauce was flavorful. One bite and I couldn't stop eating. The food was hot and once our order was placed we were served quickly. The service was excellent. Our waitress was polite, friendly and efficient. She checked on us several times. The bus boy person was a busy worker. Cleaning tables, getting/refilling water, constantly moving. Overall, this is a great breakfast place, wish I discovered it sooner. Definitely recommend giving Jerry's a try.

We were on a road trip and found Jerry’s randomly. I’m glad we did! Starting with the chips and salsa it was really good and fresh tasting. Our meals were all excellent and the portions are massive. If you leave hungry it’s your fault. I had Miguel’s delight and the enchiladas were great. Everyone at our table was completely happy Service from the waitress was great. The wait to get seated was long and the hostess seemed to have forgotten about us for a bit but the food was worth the wait.

Just a short wait, but well worth the friendly service and large flavorful food! I love their green chile! Best salsa anywhere!

If you want authentic NEW MEXICAN cuisine with the friendliest staff and the most quaint restaurant; look no further than Jerry's Cafe. I can't begin to explain the sheer joy I had when I first stepped in and could smell the chili peppers in the air. The chips were fresh and the salsa was the perfect balance of heat and flavor. Please do yourself a favor and get your butt down to Jerry's; whether you're a local or just traveling along historic route 66. Jerry's will keep you full and happy and I promise it won't disappoint.

Good food, spicy salsa, friendly staff. The spot has limited seating but is worth the wait! Had the beef enchiladas Christmas-style and loved both salsas.

Delicious!!! Passing through Gallup for a night and we found a review online for Jerry’s Cafe. Since the reviews were good we decided to give it a try instead of going to a chain restaurant. We are so glad we did. Everything we had was really good.

This restaurant it’s just wonderful, they had a line outside when we got there, a mix of locals and tourist, the place itself is small but pretty well organized I was impressed of how my people this little place can seat. The service was so nice they were helpful and attentive. The food; oh my the food! so good, the soup delicious, the steak perfect and the sopaipillas were marvelous, I can eat that all day long. If you are in Gallup it’s a must go place.

I was looking for a diner in a small town during my travels. This diner was everything I expected. I got the combination plate w/ mixed sauce and 2 eggs “sunny”.

A classic spot in downtown Gallup. This little place is always busy. It's usually too busy for me when I'm traveling through. But this time the wait list was short and I stayed. Service was excellent. Vanessa was my server and she kept my coffee cup full. Not only did she serve endless coffee, the entire wait staff did too. This is a fast paced environment. People in and out. A small place but if your willing to wait then it is the place to have a nice meal.

Don’t let parking stop you from visiting this gem! There is a parking lot designated for Jerry’s parking across the road. Diner vibe feels with rodeo photos and portraits on the wall. The staff are very friendly and prompt! The fresh sopaipilla’s with honey hit the spot. Our table had the create your own plate with chicken&cheese enchiladas with red sauce, served with beans and rice. This plate was very good! They could not stop talking about how juicy and flavorful the chicken tasted but wished the rice had more flavor. The next item was Cherelle’s Choice and you better be hungry! This monster is a flaky sopaipilla stuffed with quac, pork carnitas, and smothered with Chile and cheese. We chose red Chile, which has some heat, but next time I would have red and green on the side to enjoy both! This was the best meal! Very generous portions.

Truly Wowed us. Possibly the best Mexican food I've ever eaten. Janelle's service was outstanding. I recommend Combo Plate with Christmas Sauce. (1/2 Green and 1/2 Red Chili sauce.

They open at 8:00. We got there at 8:02 and people were already eating. The staff was very friendly. The food was excellent, and if you walk away hungry, that's on you! I had a stuffed sopaipilla, and was it ever stuffed! Husband had the Wake Up Breakfast. It filled the plate. The bacon was done perfectly. Coffee was excellent, too! Didn't have to wait for refills. The place was very clean!

There isn't much to the physical location...pretty much defines hole in the wall. However, the giant portions of delicious food served up with smiles and great service make this a must stop in Gallup. Skip the fast food and interstate neon, head to Jerry's and get some home cooking with a taste of New Mexico!

A Gallup NM hotel employee highly recommended Jerry's Cafe for dinner and we loved it! Delicious Mexican American food, including the best freshly made sopapillas I've ever had, and fantastic service by every server and the manager. When we travel through Gallup again, we will happily be coming back to Jerry's Cafe for more fabulous meals!

I searched for places to eat as we drove from AZ to Albuquerque, NM. Jerry's Cafe was top rated. We stopped in for an early dinner. I liked the family owned style & ordered Miguel's Delight. My husband got the grilled Chicken sandwich and our little guy ordered the corn dog with fries. His meal came with a drink and a pudding cup. We all thought the meal was pretty good but not good enough to write home about. The price of our meal was great compared to Northern AZ prices. The bathroom is little and so is the restaurant. We were sat within minutes and the wait staff came over to our table immediately to get us drinks. The staff was superb. There is additional parking directly across the front door of Jerry's. If you haven't eaten here it's a place that you need to try.
