In Galway City by the sea, A charcoal grill calls to me. On the streets of High and Quay, The scent of kebabs leads the way. At my command, the men do toil, Flipping meats on hot coals. They call me boss, I wear the crown, As we serve the best kebabs in town. On Mainguard and Dominick too, Our grill draws in quite a crew. The aroma of spices and smoke, Lures in the hungry city folk. The sizzle and pop of cooking meat, A symphony of flavors, hard to beat. I revel in the hustle and bustle, As the men cook with passion and muscle. In Galway City, the charcoal grill, Is where my love for kebabs is fulfilled. With the men who call me boss, We serve up deliciousness, at no loss. So come and taste the magic we make, On Shop and William, we'll be your steak. For Galway City's charcoal grill, Is where the best kebabs are served with skill.

Came here after spending the afternoon driving from Dublin to Galway. Wandered around for a while on Shop Street before getting out of the crowds and coming onto this place. Staff was friendly downstairs, asked if I wanted take away or to sit down. I told them I'd like to sit down and they pointed me to go upstairs to have a seat. Was able to order pretty quickly and it didn't take long for the food to arrive. The portions were large on the lamb donner meal and the price was good. I'd recommend it to others.

I was looking forward to visiting this place as I had heard great things. I was eating in and in fairness the waitress was great and looked after me straight away and was pleasant enough. I had the lamb donner which was a plate of very dry sliced lamb with rice, salad and a few chips. I suspect usually they drown the dry meat in sauce so you can't taste it, but I like my sauce on the side. The bread (I opted for naan) was only two small pieces and simply not enough for the meat. I paid €15 and they couldn't even provide me with a full naan or pitta. There were less then a handful of fries god knows where that rice came from but it was tasteless plate filler. Also, if you are looking for atmosphere, forget it. The clientele here are exactly the kind of people who will keep this place in business and I suspect wouldn't know a decent kebab if they tasted one. I overheard one guy explaining rather loudly to his poor girlfriend about why he doesn't like her parents, because they judge him, why Kenny is a white haired looser, and why he won't be turning up for work tomorrow because he wants the day off at the behest of his poor girlfriend who exclaimed that she was so happy that he had recently got a job and didn't want him to lose it. So yeah no atmosphere, or maybe great atmosphere if you like a live version of Jerry Springer while you eat.

10,90 € for the chicken doner is way to expensive according to the size of the portion, which is actually very small! Also it really was the opposite of delicious!!! The meat seemed not to be fresh from the grill. Overall my personal expectations of a "Döner" are quite different. A original one at a typical snack bar is served as bread filled with meat etc. so you can eat it out of your hands, not a box, in which bread is topped with stuff. But maybe this is because I am comparing it to german/turkish standards.

After watching some sports in the pub next door I felt like eating a kebab. The menu showed a picture of nice tasty Döner Kebab, in a proper bread bun (my favourite) but they didn’t have it. So I ordered number 1 ( lamb doner) + chilli/garlic sauce, the closest thing to a German style kebab. The bread and the rice I didn’t touch. But the rest was super nice! It tasted like a döner kebab ( but without the pistolet-like bun). Good flavours! I can highly recommend.

First class. Donar meat is one of the best I have tried in the country, and I've tried loads! Will be back tomorrow again and the next day until I leave Galway.

A good place to have lunch or dinner for a company of 2-5 friends. Better to take a big plate and share as the portions are really big.

The food is very good, but you pay for the meal but do not receive all the side dishes. This has already happened with 2 different Delivery companies. When calling to complain they pay no attention. Really disappointed in the service. I do not recommend.

Ordered what is expected to be served with sauce on the side and full salad and was delivered a complete mess with sauce mixed in missing half of the salad. On the phone was told that's the way it is and that they are too busy. Expected a call from the manager that never came. Complete waste of money. Poor service. Disrespectful. Appalling service.

This is a great place. We were on vacation and got tired of eating in fancy places. I know that sounds weird but that's the truth. We just went coasteeing and hiking and we needed something good, not very expensive, filling and just satisfying. We found the Charcoal Grill. It was awesome, the lamb kafta was phenomenal, the lamb chunks were great, the chicken was awesome too. Everything we ate was spot on.

Lamb kebabs are a flavorful delight! The tenderness of lamb combined with the spices and herbs used in marination creates a savory and aromatic dish. The meat’s richness pairs wonderfully with a variety of seasonings, allowing for diverse flavor profiles. Whether it’s cumin, paprika, garlic, or a blend of various spices, they all contribute to the unique and satisfying taste of lamb kebabs

2.10 am 28/1/24 Terrible late night rude service from the Horrible Old Seagull Man that works there or owns it? I DO NOT DRINK my wife does, she waited in the car while I went in for food. The old SEAGULL man said they were closing in 5 mins when I ordered 2 large lamb shish and started chatting rubbish n complaining to the younger lads in turkish. The other younger men were sound and polite and went to work straight away no problem. And told me they are open for another 45 minutes yet!! I have to say The young fellas were great.... but then the old man went out with some food in a box smoking a cig , checked out my wife and threw the food next to my rented car so the seagulls flocked down and poop all over it. I went out straight away and stood by the car and my wife to protect her from this jealous old man smoking his cigarette and his flock of seaguls. I came back in and the old man tried to Overcharge the man in front of me who had had a few, 28 euro for a kebab. The man said thats too much I will give you 18 and told the rest in the shop watch this fella he would rob the eye out of your head... which made me chime in saying....Yes he probably would and I started to accost him for his behaviour saying how rude and disrespectful he is. He started to poop himself pretty quick. I paid took my food and left. Food was OK. Shish was OK. Chips were not. Only getting a bad review because of this HORRIBLE OLD SEAGULL MAN.

Horrific food. Chips that have been fried so many time you can see through them. I could only describe the chicken in my Kebab as OLD and a HARD. The Kebab was also hilariously small. Charcoal grill used to be great now it’s just filthy dog food.

People who call this the best kebab in Galway never had a decent kebab. The doner meat is grizzly fatty and chewy. The chips are the most basic frozen bland chips you'll ever taste. Most takeaways should have fresh cuts chips no excuse.. It shows how low quality the food is. As for the prices it's robbery.. The staff are rude. Don't know how there is so many charcoals in Galway. They need some competition. 5 euro for a regular burger and 7.50 for a quarter pound.. Thieves.

Great food, very tasty, but the customer service it’s just the worst. I’ve been waiting for 15 minutes to order once, and the second time I’ve been waiting for 10 minutes, the lady came and got the order from another persons that just came in. When I asked her why is she treating us so disrespectful she said, you don’t have to come anymore and made me rude for telling her. I don’t recomand.

Food's always great. They've never closed through Covid. Dined in once for a falafel meal (brill). I always go for a vegetarian burger or a chipper. Yea i know, no point for a vegetarian reviewing but gotta say, the chips taste great, like fried in fresh oil and they're not skimpy on the chili salsa or the mayo. Loyal chip off the block here:)

Great Googly Moogly that was the best kebab I have ever had. With it being my first kebab I wasn’t expecting much but as you can see from my mush I was beyond thrilled. Only one word for it.. orga$m1c. Or as my friend who left used Johnny’s under his mattress calls it.. MorganSmic. The atmosphere in there was like the Quays!!! Electric (not the nightclurb) !!!!! Like shoes in a mosque, it was going off in there !! Thanks Pat and Seamus for the authentic kebab I will be back soon.

Usually I'd get a shish kebab when I get dinner here with my father which has been a specialty of charcoal for years, and I would recommend it to everyone. Today I had a regular doner kebab which was also lovely. The service upstairs by the women working today was superb as per usual, and when I finished and was paying the service did not degrade as the man working the till, called Antony (if I'm not mistaken) was also a pleasure to interact with.

I was overcharged by 10 euro or so. I didn't go in myself for the food so only noticed the following this morning when checking my back account. Rang them as soon as they opened to be told "I don't know" and he just kept stating the price my order should have been. I asked a few times could you charge my card back or offer something else to cover the overcharge and he said again I don't know. He said he would ring me back definitely before 3pm but he didn't know what time his manager was coming in and then immediately hung up before i could say anything else. 7.30pm in the evening now and still no word 🤷 I will try ringing again but I don't have much hope.
