Stayed here for New Years, disaster from the moment we arrived. Wasn’t able to check in until 5pm. There was 2 wedding groups who were messy, took over the bar and meant you had to wait 1 hour to get a drink from the bar. Decided to order from the table but again after 45 minutes we went to the bar as there was no sign of the drinks. This is definitely not a 5 star hotel and for the prices I would avoid at all costs. No one can be contacted from the room phone as no answers, however when we called the landline number from a mobile it was answered swiftly. Room service, don’t even go there. It doesn’t exist! We ended up leaving the bar at 11 on New Year’s Eve as with the wedding party it was starting to get a bit rough, said we would get room service instead . Waited 70 minutes and eventually got through to reception to be informed our order had been cancelled and we should have received a call informing us of this but of course we didn’t. Receptionist was apologetic about poor service citing the fact that they had two wedding parties as the reason why. This may well have been the case but is not an excuse for the abysmal service which the “regular” guests received despite paying premium prices to stay in the hotel over the new year. The receptionist’s solution was a drink on the house which again was almost laughable given the fact that the night ended up being a disaster. This is not a five star hotel and the service was extremely disappointing and left a lot to be desired.

Not really sure what to make of this place. Overall I think this place would make a great staycation rather than a vacation, and I would want a place like this near where I live but I wouldn’t come to this place again if I come back to Galway. There seems to be a steep learning curve to understand the hotel. As we were on our honeymoon and had literally just got married the week beforehand, we hadn’t had the time to remember much about the hotel (we did a road trip around Ireland and this was our last 2 nights). We arrived tired, and the check in process was confusing, the man didn’t give us much information about the hotel and services, he just kept asking if we wanted to eat brunch whilst we were waiting for our room to be ready - even though we said we weren’t hungry. The way it was presented was like it was free, but I’m guessing it wasn’t. We also were not told that Valet parking costs- it wasn’t a problem but it could have been nice to be told. The doorman was super helpful with our luggage. The rooms were ok, but tired. Wardrobe was annoying. The breakfast was really nice and the staff were friendly there. Overall the staff were friendly but it seemed disjointed in the overall service. As weren’t told much when checking in we didn’t know we needed to book to use the spa, and that it costs. I’ll review the spa on their google page though. In the hotel they had someone playing peaceful music on the piano. We appreciated this. The interior in bar and restaurant is lovely. The drinks were fine but service was very slow - I think they had one waitress serving 4 rooms alone. The location is bizarre, a busy road surrounds the place and I wouldn’t say it is particularly scenic or convenient to access the town. However the this didn’t bother us too much and at one point I woke up in the night to see sparkling lights across the lake which looked much better like that! The large windows looked great when there was heavy rain running down them. Overall a relaxing but confusing stay and locals would probably enjoy it a lot more than tourists.

My wife and I stayed here 2 nights during our driving trip around Ireland and Northern Ireland. The hotel is fantastic and we will definitely stay here again when we come back to Galway. Everything is very modern and incredibly relaxing, and the staff are friendly and go out of their way to may your stay as enjoyable as possible. The staff are actually why I wish I could leave a higher review than 5/5. I stupidly left a hanging garment bag full of clothes in our room and to compound the issue I didn’t realize the mistake till 3 days after checking out. But Blanca, Jose and the rest of the staff went out of their way to not only assure us the clothes were still there but also mailed them back to us in the US. We could not be more appreciative of everything they did for us.

100% not a 5 star hotel. It's in an industrial estate on the outskirts of Galway. The staff were very friendly and professional. The massage and thermal suite were very good. Comparable to many other hotels. Food was pretty good but service was less than I expected. Overall ok but not worth the price.

Amazing staff service. The food was delicious but I would have liked a little more table service. Bedrooms very elegant, spacious and warm. One very disappointing element was the downstairs heating was non existent. We had to wear our outdoor coats at dinner and tho we would have liked to stay on in the lounge for a few cocktails, we retreated to the heat of our rooms!

Stayed for one night and was made very welcome from start to finish. The staff were very warm and welcome and very competent. Had dinner in restaurant and would highly recommend. This was one of my best and most enjoyable stays in a hotel in a very long time. The only negative observation I would have is, the bathroom in the room needs a bit of TLC Will call again!

Very disappointed with customer service at the G Hotel. I booked a stay in advance (prepaid), for a room at The G Hotel and Spa. The day of my reservation, around 3PM, I received a call that something was wrong with my room, and I needed to be moved to another hotel. I was moved to a lower quality hotel, and there upon check out I was presented a bill for a total of 100 Euros cheaper. However, the hotel refused to pay the difference in the room rates. I understand that things happen, and sometimes someone may need to be moved. But it's completely unacceptable not to refund the difference, when I had the inconvenience of being moved to a completely different hotel. Had I known this hotel was managed this poorly, I would have not at stayed at either of this property, and requested a entire refund. Will not be returning to any of properties by this management group, completely unacceptable level of service.

Wonderful hotel! Amy at the front desk made us feel welcome immediately. The courtesy car drove us into town and it seemed like the concierge were excited to drive it. A MUST STAY. Such a great price, very central, beautiful views, rooms are clean. I burnt my hand and asked for burn cream. They had it within 10 minutes. Throughout the day they called just to make sure I was okay. Great attention to detail. I would fly the 10 hours to Galway to stay here again.

Had an excellent stay here. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, plenty of soaps towels etc. Restaurant and bar were top notch. I don’t remember everyone’s name who helped me but Gustavo was a great bartender and server the following morning at breakfast. Highly recommend.

Really funky hotel. Beds are comfy and the rooms are spacious. Nice breakfast. The noise was a problem as we could hear every single person passing the room at night which kept waking us. Other than the noise it is a lovely spot.

Luxurious hotel about a 20 minute walk from downtown Galway. Extremely attentive staff and very nice rooms. Breakfast is delicious and the bar has a variety of cocktails. The water pressure in the shower was amazing! Would stay again!

Where to start. We are from the USA and have traveled to over 35 countries and stayed at hundreds of hotels and eaten at over 1000 plus restaurants. We had high hopes for this hotel. Checkin went OK, once to our room we ordered more pillows and towels, that did arrive promptly. The hotel claims to have HVAC, but the room controls are out of the 1970s. You can only control fan speed and "temp" on the dial but have no idea what the temp is or what you want, so lots of guesswork. This is a modern hotel, I was shocked that they don't have a modern climate control system. Also, it got warm inside the room at times, I'm betting the temp could not go below 70f. We ate dinner at the restaurant, very slow service and unorganized. The food was decent but not worth the money you pay. I would give 3 stars for restaurant rating, diffenlty, not michelin star. I brought up this experience to the front desk they blew off our comments and said that's too bad and just stood there looking at us. There were some cosmetic issues in our room with the glass, ceiling, and walls with water damage. The room was nice, big room, huge bathroom, loved the showers. There was plenty of hot water, and the bed was comfortable. However, there was only a heavy down comforters/blanket with no sheet to deal with, made sleeping hard when when waking up hot all the time. In the summer, you should have a thinner option and provide a bed sheet. Again, I am surprised at the lack of details for this level of hotel for comfort. The lighting controls take some getting used to. Hallways are very dark. I almost I need a flashlight to see. Valet was always good and Johnny on the spot so no issues there. Ate breakfast at the restaurant, took forever to get food then our waiter disappeared for over 20min, ran out of syrup and juice. Pointed out again and there wasn't much response, deer in the headlights. Housekeeping did come up to sort out the room while we were gone, so there were no real issues there. We did go to the spa, which was pretty good for us other than my wife didnt get her hot stones that was ordered and booked. We ate supper at a differant location based on our experience, lower end hotel, but better service. we went back upon checkout morning for breakfast and it was a worse experience than the other morning. Took 30min to even get our food and about 15min to get drinks and place order. Upon checkout they charged us for the room we already paid for, we got that sorted out but the attention to details here are lacking. I don't blame the employees as much as i do management because it is there responsibility and should reflect badly on their leadership skills. We asked to talk to manager, knowing it wont do any good but he was in a meeting so we left to our next destination. He did call us but we was in the mountains and lost call several times but got the theme here of excuses and employees make mistakes, i get that but we have stayed at planty of places costing 500 to 1000 per night and dont have these issues. Not worth the money, I would stay elsewhere.

The hotel is good. However service is appalling. We waited 10 minutes to be seated at breakfast whilst staff walked past us and ignored us. Service once we were seated was very slow. They made thing of telling us about their three seating areas but one was roped off so couldn't be used by guests as they save it for afternoon tea. The other two had nobody operating the bar. We waited circa 10-15 minutes for our order to be taken and then another 10 minutes to get our drinks, 25 minutes for a pint and a glass of wine!! There was only one bar working and only one member of staff preparing drinks for all the guests in a 5 star hotel on a Friday night at around 6pm. It feels like the staff are not being managed properly or that the hotel are being cheap and not employing enough staff. Far from a 5 star experience.

First the good: front desk staff was helpful and friendly. There's a Lidl and Boots in the shopping center the hotel is located in. The breakfast included in the rate is very good. The Luxury room we had is large and has a nice bathroom. The bad: probably the worst located room I've ever had and I travel over 100 nights a year. We're paying $275/night for a room over a loading dock. The trucks are so close you can hear every little sound. They picked up garbage between 0600-0700 every morning. Every room that isn't a "view" room overlooks this parking lot. If you want to guarantee a view and quiet you'll need to pay for it. Food is expensive and there's not many other options close by. I don't recommend.

I’ve been at the G hotel for 3 days mid week. The hotel itself and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff are gracious and welcoming. Breakfast is served at the table and contains a large variety of dishes. I’ve given the hotel 4 stars for location because it is a bit of a walk from twin center (the hotel does offer complimentary car services ti take guests one way to town). Having said that - the views from the hotel are great and there’s a nice running routes along the shore.

The room with the lake view was amazing. Had the Swedish massage in the spa, it was really relaxing. Worth the money! Tried a mocktail and it was good... The breakfast options were good, there is vegan option available.

Close to the city center but perhaps further outside than some might be able to handle. It’s along a major road and has a shopping center behind it so noise can get a bit loud. Not bad for a city but loud enough to notice. Room was large and nicely furnished with a large bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. Food we had while onsite was prepared nicely and staff was very friendly.

Went for afternoon tea. Nobody was in the room for service so we could not get tea topped up. Our tray was missing desserts that we could see on other peoples trays in the room. My friend is vegetarian and we told them in advance so she could be accommodated for. When the server brought out the sandwiches she told my friend which sandwiches were vegetarian, when my friend bit into one of the sandwiches it had smoked herring caviar in it. Which is not vegetarian. We could not even complain to the server as once again they had disappeared from the room and were not to be seen again until it was time to pay. So disappointed, afternoon tea at The Hardiman was much cheaper and provided a much better experience.

We had an amazing weekend here, we spent 2 nights here. The staff are excellent, the woman on reception who checked us in was very helpful, offered us a glass of Prosecco and showed us around the beautiful ground floor of the hotel, we also got a complementary room upgrade, we were upgraded to a deluxe lake view room, there were robes and slippers in our room along with a bottle of Prosecco waiting to celebrate my birthday. The rooms are large and clean with a huge comfortable bed and a nice bathroom with separate shower and bath. Breakfast was delicious, you order from a menu as opposed to a buffet breakfast, the bring you a selection of bread, pastries and fruit along with tea/coffee and your ordered breakfast. The wait staff are extremely professional and very nice, always checking in to see if they can get you anything else. On the sunday we went for a spa day, there is a wonderful thermal spa room, with sauna, steam room, thermal pool/ jacuzzi, and heated tile beds, and also a relaxation room upstairs with comfortable beds to relax before or after your spa treatment, and we were told to spend as long as we like in either room. The staff in the spa were also lovely and we both got an hour massage, they begin the massage with a sensory test to see which oils your body needs, I loved this little touch, it made the treatment seem much more personal I can't comment on dinner as we went into the city for food both evenings.

Did the 'G' hit the spot? I'm not so sure! I heard alot of people going on about this place so my expectations were high, I have to say, It did not live up to its reputation. On arriving into the lobby, all I could think about was how the colour scheme, Black, could affect the mental health of the staff members on reception, who, I have to mention, are incredibly nice and welcoming. The black though, it's too much! The rooms are very average, spotless clean though, fanciest thing about them is the oversized handles on the bathroom doors! The corridors, again, really dark, so again I feel for the staff on cleaning duties! The bar and common rooms are comfortable, not a great atmosphere and the cocktails are overpriced by about 25%. Range from 18 to 20 yoyo's, probably priced that way to pay for the bathroom door handles! Food in the restaurant, it was nice and the staff are brilliant, breakfast was good too. Overall I wouldn't be too pushed to stay again, overpriced all round, I will emphasise though, the staff are excellent.

Girls trip away for 40th birthday: Pros: hotel decor is lovely and glam, food was tasty and good portions. Wine was nice . Staff were friendly but not enough of them- see below . Breakfast service and food was really good. Bathroom in room was fab with strong rain shower and lots of toiletries. Cons: Service for afternoon tea and dinner wasn’t great . Too little staff and seemed no one was over seeing operations so staff appeared a little chaotic trying to manage all the tables . Had booked afternoon tea well in advance with twice via telephone calls confirming coeliac options would be available. Our reservation was at 2pm but the two coeliacs didn’t get any food till after 3pm after the staff twice bringing out gluten options that had to be returned . At dinner , not enough staff and while the server was friendly she was also seating people so no one checking if we needed anything and took a long time to get basics like butter and water etc after asking multiple times . Hairdryer in room was faulty and the room lights weren’t all working. All in all: nice stay but for the high price of accommodation and food would have expected more staff and more attentive to details.

Easy to book with over the phone, parking is perfect, nice and relaxed at check in. Room I was assigned had an issue, once I reported I was swiftly moved to a different room with no fuss whatsoever, had dinner in the restaurant the food was superb from the easy of ordering to the food presentation it could not have been better. The room I stayed in was a "lake view room" looking across to a bus stop, car park and commercial buildings. The road outside was heavy with traffic and when you're not used to hearing traffic from your own bed, it can be unsettling. The water from the shower leaked out onto the bathroom floor, which at the price paid for an overnight stay shouldn't happen. Breakfast was perfect with a nice menu and wonderful service. Check out was like check in, relaxed and friendly.

A group of friends and I went for afternoon tea here. We didn't have a great experience. We ordered cocktails to start but one of my friends waited almost a hour for her cocktail to arrive despite letting two servers know she was still waiting on it. The sweet treats and sandwiches were served way before the tea and coffee came and we all felt we were waiting too long for the hot drinks. The savory plate had only one small white sandwich slice and when we asked for a couple more sandwiches the serves stated it would cost an extra 15 euro. There was a lot of times when no server was in the room at all. Overall it was very over priced and not enough savory options in comparison to the sweet options.

An okay hotel & restaurant (located right beside a busy road and part of a shopping complex & cinema) never understood what is so 5 stars about this place to be honest. But it isn’t terrible! I just don’t think is worth all the hype. I have been there multiple times ( mostly because of my friends 😂) never because I was dying to go there.

The lobbies , bars and restaurants are really nice. Somehow, they created a brand for themselves. Personally, we made a mistake booking here as being new to Galway. we didn't realise the hotel is 20 minutes walk from the main square where all night life is. Unfortunately the room was freezing, and it seemed the heating was not working so we got a small heater to help with that. The SPA pool and steam rooms are not included in the price, which we thought was a bit of a downer. The treatments are great. Expensive also. If u need to use the facilities you have to book well ahead. Additionally when we were checking out. The price of the room was more expensive that what we had originally booked for. So that had to be corrected and they also kindly gave us a 10% discount because of the heating not working. If you are looking for a place to relax and u are not interested in walking out to bar and restaurant then this is your place.

I just wanted to share our experience of visiting for lunch last week. Myself and my husband popped in on the off chance there would be an availability for lunch at 12.30 approximately. We were greeted by a very abrupt, I'm assuming restaurant manager who proceeded to question us. "Have you a reservation, are you residents, we are very busy ......" to which I responded" it's fine we jus...." , when I was interrupted rudely with a response "I'm not finished! " I was quite taken aback. I had been there the week previously with my mother, and I had lovely service from other employees. Saying that the food was lovely, the waitress and barman were lovely, I think this lady needs a little training in people skills. I have worked in the service industry and I would never have spoken to a customer with the attitude I received from her.

We have just checked out if the G Hotel after a lovely relaxing weekend. It was our first visit and we were absolutely delighted with everything. Despite some of the soft furnishings being a bit tired all the important things for us were first class I e. The staff ,the service, the food and our room. Especially the staff. Thank you so much . Looking forward to our next visit Niamh and Fergus Roche

It's a nice hotel, we had booked a luxury room which was on the 1st floor at the back of the hotel, it overlooked shops and we were right above the back door of the hotel where there were deliveries going on. A bit disappointed with our view. The bed was very comfy and the pillows were like a bag of bubbles. Both breakfast and dinner were good. We had booked b and b, when we added the cost of dinner the total bill came to €454 for one night.

Looking to escape to a place where your every need is looked after by a plethora of amazing staff? Then this is the place, I've never felt more welcomed in hotel then I did with my two night stay at the G. Everything I needed was brought without fuss or question, with a smile and with speed. I'd like to firmly thank a specific young man who made my stay the full 5 stars. His name was Ben and he offered us delightful tidbits about the city, all while recommending us things that we "just need to do when you're you're here!". He was kind and courteous, opening the main door for me everytime with a smile (behind the mask )he truly made this experience 5 stars! So thank you again Ben and all the lovely hotel staff at the G. I can't wait to come back!

Stayed in the superior suite here and wow, it did not disappoint. From the minute you walk into this beautiful hotel you are greeted by lovely and extremely helpful staff. The room itself was gorgeous, huge bed, huge bathroom with a free standing bath and double showers. The food in the hotel was delicious, with breakfast being delivered to the room on both mornings. iPad in the room makes ordering food and drinks easy. Visited the spa on site too. Swimming pool was beautiful and very relaxing.

Didn’t kick off to a great start when we arrived. Check in was 3pm but we didn’t get checked in till 4:30pm which messed up our plans for the afternoon.I am heavily pregnant had a long journey and just wanted to get into the room ASAP. The guy on the front desks answer for everything was “I don’t know” “I’m unsure” he wasn’t very helpful at all told us he’d come get us in a half hour and our room would be ready, after not hearing anything after an hour we went up to query for the second time to which he replied “I was just coming to give you your keys” as he stood at the desk. I didn’t catch his name but wish I had. The dinner was lovely but breakfast was cold (eggs benedict) I have to mention Francisco our waiter for the evening meal and he was fantastic, great service! Overall we had a lovely stay but was a shame it had to start off that way.

We visited the G hotel in Galway on the 31st. of October 2021. After a long drive from Wexford via Dublin we were immediately met at the steps and our bags were brought to our rooms and we had our car parked for us which was brilliant because we were tired. We had a wonderful dinner and i can not fault the very friendly an professional service we received on our stay in the G Hotel...I would recommend the the hotel to anybody that wants a relaxing and hassle free break. In fact the name of the g hotel should be changed to "The Gem Hotel" because that is what it is A Gem.

My partner and I stayed here last week. I had mentioned in the booking that it was my birthday. Since the moment we walked through the doors to leaving the next day the service was amazing! Everyone of the staff was so friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you. When we got to our room there was a balloon , a little cake and a letter to wish me a happy birthday. I was so happy! Thank you so much! We had a great time , the cocktails were fab in the bar , the breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. Would definitely come back again 😃

Stayed here recently with wife and two kids. Travelled up from Kerry, was well worth the journey. Room was very comfortable, the food in the restaurant was excellent, staff were very nice to deal with and great with the kids. Duty manager by the name of Claudia, if i can recall her name correctly deserves special mention. General Manager Pat a nice guy to deal with, and very down to earth. Would recommend highly.

Don't go here for the food. The beds are so comfortable and the rooms clean and pleasant. Everyone who works here is lovely....but it is badly let down by the food. We have stayed here two years in a row and unfortunately had two bad experiences with the restaurant. This time we sat waiting for an hour for our starters to arrive....we then asked were they coming...and they eventually arrived vbout 10 minutes later. When they did arrive my killary fjord muscles were tasty...but the portion was absolutely tiny, literally miniscule. My husbands lamb terrine had a 'blob' for lack of a better word, of chocolate ganache on the plate...it was terrible and had no place there with lamb. My main was mosaic...a combination of cod and salmon. The salmon was the only thing I ate on the plate. The small bowl of 'sharing potatoes' were cubes and tasted very strongly of smoked paprika and would have been more appropriate at a bbq. The tenderstem broccoli looked like it had gone to seed, parmesan sprinkled over couldn't conceal this. We left before dessert and to be honest I was starving. We didn't even bother going to breakfast we were so annoyed. Disappointing, it ruined the special occasion we went to celebrate. The hotel took off the charge for dinner, but when you're going for a special occasion and paying a lot to stay...the food should be much, much better....and you shouldn't have to complain about this kind of thing in a 5 star hotel. Unfortunately won't be back and it's a shame because it's a beautiful hotel.

My wife and I and another couple traveled throughout Ireland on a ten day tour . This hotel was fantastic. It was the best place we stayed at. From beginning to end. Plenty of parking under the hotel. The water pressure in the shower was amazing it was like a fire hose. The bed was great. I would definitely stay here again

Very good hotel and all amenities were there. The price point was excellent. I just found there was a lack of engagement and although staff were pleasant and helpful, I didn’t get the welcome and warmth that’s present in other 5* hotels. Perhaps staff were new to roles and they were quite young, and perhaps they were told what to say. However Victoria in housekeeping was excellent… should she be front of house?.
