This hostel is situated in perfect spot if you are visiting Galway on a budget The staff are incredibly friendly and the rooms are clean. They provide breakfast and towels. Key deposit is €2 so make sure you have change.

It was a good experience to live here. Perfect location at the heart of the city. Only few minutes walk from Galway coach station and next to train station. They can help to book tours to cliffs of moher and Connemara (€35-50 adult). Lot of french, Canadian, Spanish, American, etc. teenagers. They organize cheap dinner, costing €5. There is a kitchen area for hanging out, dine in and coffee. Indoor board games available. Cooking not available. Free delicious and healthy breakfast included in the price. Toilets are in good condition. Don't forget to bring your own toiletries. Negative sides are: the rooms are packed with 10 people on bunker beds. Sometime it's annoying to live with different people cause a fly in the bucket of milk can spoil everything. Sometime roommate snoring, drinking to much and forget how to behave. There is a bar at the ground floor which playing loud music and people screams, can easily penetrate through the window and destroy a sound night sleep. I never recommend this place to couples. Good luck 🤞

We booked out the entire hostel for a weekend in August as part of a stag. Hostel is ideally located on Eyre Square and easily accessible by public transport or car. If arriving by car the best place to park is in the public car park behind the Hardiman Hotel (€6.50 for 24 hours). The hostel is incredibly well run and Brian is usually onsite to answer any questions. There are rooms on 3 levels with a mix of dorms and smaller private rooms. Beds are comfortable and well spaced out. Each bed its own storage and charging point too. Continental breakfast was provided each morning with coco pops, corn flakes, crunchy nut and fruit & fibre to choose from. All branded too which was even better. If you are looking for a group activity the hostel suggested Connemara Pub tours which was really enjoyable and ideal for a stag/hen. Overall this is an incredibly hostel. It is often voted the best hostel in Ireland and I can see why. Spotlessly clean, spacious, comfortable, great location and of course a great staff.

Lovely clean hostel with some very friendly staff. We were in the top room with a nice view ish over eyre square. Due to stay for 3 nights and very excited to explore the city. Pub right below that has live music towards the end of the week and a good pint of the black stuff!

Staff was very friendly and place was clean. However, it is right above a pub that BLASTS live music late into the night. The floor was vibrating under my bed. The sleeping rooms also had an awful smell. Free cold breakfast was nice, but I was not able to fall asleep (with ear plugs) until very late both nights I stayed there. Would’ve paid to go to an actual hotel if there were any vacancies (as I came on a very busy weekend).

Overall ok. Met some friendly folks. Generally clean but hair in all showers on the night I arrived. Wouldn’t recommend the tours (they are organized by an external company and don’t have the right vibe for backpackers)

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Galway City Hostel. I cannot recommend a better place to stay. The staff are welcoming, helpful, and attentive to everything you could need, as well as friendly and lovely to get to know! Breakfast is delicious, and the kitchen is fully equipped. The rooms are clean, with space to lock up your things safely. We met many amazing people during our short 4-day stay. The hostel even organizes events like bar crawls to encourage socializing!! Finally, the location is smack in the center of Galway which makes visiting the city incredibly easy.

Probably one of the cleanest hostels I’ve stayed at in Europe despite staying in a 16 bed dorm. The Canadian lady at the reception was super nice. Great location.

This was my first female solo traveling experience and it really could not have been any better. The staff were incredibly friendly especially Sarah at the front desk and Conor who led an amazing pub crawl through the city. I was also so lucky to have met the best group of people during my stay. The rooms and bathroom were clean and efficient and I can’t recommend this place enough!

I spent 2 nights in a 4-bed bedroom, and it was a really good time! The staff there was really friendly and helpful, the room was nice with good beds, lockers under the bed, curtains for privacy, and a towel was given when checking in. The location is very central, in front of the train station and Eye square, which was very nice, and also very close to pubs and restaurants, and supermarkets

Excellent place to stay. Very clean, literally right beside the train station, and friendly staff. 10/10. Galway is a 'young artsy' kind of city...by that I mean lots of ppl staying out and going to bars, playing loud music, etc. If that's not your thing be warned, but that has nothing to do with the hostel itself.

One of the best hostels I've ever been. Friendly staff, and very clean place (really important especially in these pandemic times). Close to the bus station, so if you are traveling by bus, I recommend it. Even if you're not traveling by bus, because I've really enjoyed my stay in this hostel.

Best Hostel I ever stayed in. Really helpful and friendly staff who can give you great advice on things to do in Galway. The rooms have cozy beds with curtains for privacy and the washrooms are always really clean and nice looking. I can more than highly recommed this hostel.

Such an awesome spot - staff are fantastic, super friendly and easy to get on with. Sociable common areas that are really pleasantly designed too. Pub crawl was great, met lots of people and stayed on into the late night. My head hurts today but I’ve had an amazing stay.

Such a great place! The dorms, kitchen and bathroom are always clean and in good condition. The hostel is located close to the centre of Galway. I was planning to spend 2 weeks in the hostel but prolonged my stay for 2 more weeks. The staff is super lovely and made me feel like home from the first day, especially Tom who has been incredibly nice and welcoming towards everyone in the hostel. He has made travelling alone for the first time a lot easier for me. The hostel has a very cozy common room where everyone can spend time and come together. To sum up, I would absolutely recommend this hostel and would definitely come back here when returning to Galway!

I had never stayed at a hostel before and, frankly, for €19 per night, I wasn't expecting it to be good at all. I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised though! The staff were extremely friendly, the hostel was very clean and very well kept. You couldn't get a better location as its right next to the bus and train station with great places to eat and visit within a few minutes walk from its location. I highly recommend this hostel. I was very impressed.

One of the best hospitality experiences of my life. Clean, cozy, beautifully decorated and excellently managed with lux showers, comfy beds, and the kindest staff. Cheers Tom, you’re the guardian angel of Galway 😇

Our experience was great! The rooms were a little cramped and there’s not a lot of space overall. The staff were fantastic though — shoutout Tom! — and there are great amenities like breakfast and free towels. Location was awesome and you can book tours easily at reception. Very social vibe, but is not overwhelming.

One of the finest establishments I've ever stayed in - be it hostel, b and b or hotel. Endlessly helpful and friendly staff, wonderful beds, prime location. Free tea, coffee and hot chocolate, included breakfast, pristine toilet and shower facilities, anything and everything here was near perfect. An extra mention to staff member Tom, whose amicability and attentiveness really made it feel like a second home within the mere week I stayed. If you're fortunate enough to be going to Galway, this is THE place to stay - particularly if you're travelling alone.

Amazing experience at Galway city hostel. The crew at this hostel are so kind and helpful. The staff recommendations was a genius idea to be put it. We picked up a few restaurants from their recommendation list and they were the best! The hostel bedrooms were so nice, clean and fresh. I would highly recommend you to pick Galway city hostel also beacuse of their location (right in the city).

By far the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed at. The staff were cleaning frequently and it showed. The hostel and rooms are all nice. The kitchen is large and fully equipped with coffee, tea, and breakfast. The rooms have bunks with a light, outlet, USB, and caged lockers. A towel is provided. The bathrooms are co-ed with private stalls. The stalls have a bench and a hook with space to change. Shower is nice and hot with good water pressure. Location is on point with the bars and shops all within walking distance. A paid parking area across the street and around the corner are available. The building is secure with card entry into the buildings and individual rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, fantastic experience.

I stayed 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Tom and the other staff are so warm friendly and will help with anything. The common room is a great space to relax and hangout. Beds have privacy curtains, locking storage cages, and charging ports. I felt right at home and will stay here again next time I’m in Galway.

We stayed in this hostel for two nights, and our stay was just wonderful! The atmosphere is really welcoming and the staff was always super nice with us! The beds are really comfortable and the showers are really wide and clean. The location is just unbeatable, located in the middle of the city is close to the Pub's and the bus and train station. Definitely a must in your stay in Galway!

The hostel was very nice. However, when I came back after a day out I found all my things gone from my locker. They thought I was supposed to be moved out but when I came back and told them that wasn’t true it took less than a minute to check the computer to see I was still in the room for another day. I understand these mistakes happen, but I think if it was that easy to see then more care should be taken when breaking someone’s lock and throwing their things into bags. There was no care taken for my things either as my cosmetic bag was thrown in without being zipped up and everything was everywhere. I think a large part of confusion comes from not assigning beds to guests. I think this would sort a lot out and could have made it easier to contact me and ask why my things were still there before throwing it in bags. The staff member who fixed everything was very kind and helped me a lot. Apart from this everything was really great.

The service is great and clean but they miss the most important thing, sleep. Drunk people making mess, high volume music and missing of rules from the staff. Stayed 3 nights always mess.

Pro’s: Great location! Right next to downtown Galway and steps away from all the shops, food and entertainment. They had free breakfast (although slim pickings). Very cheap price. Rooms were clean. Con’s: Rooms were on the smaller side and felt hard to move around with so many people. It was really hot as well and windows were stuck shut. It is right above a bar so comes with trade off of good location, it is very loud and noisy.

The location is great! Right in the city center and right over a bar/restaurant in case you don't want to explore the area at night. The beds are clean, comfy, and have individual outlets. The curtains provide nice privacy, and all bathrooms and showers are private rooms.

It was my first stay here but certainly not my last! The people at the reception are really friendly. It has a small but good kitchen with a lot of supplies one might need for cooking. I got sick a day before I checked out and the receptionist who worked there that day was so lovely. She gave me a cooling sachet and asked if I needed any other help. Felt really good and safe here.
